Winter 2023 DLC Speculation

I'll try to be even more fair, I'll make an honest pros and cons list:

Golden Snub Nosed Monkey
Pros:
  • Colourful & Attractive to a general audience.
  • People who want more Asia rep are satisfied.
Cons:
  • Outside of China it is very rare in captivity.
  • Similar to the Proboscis Monkey in terms of importance to the roster (which to be clear is not that important)
  • Wouldn't add too many new behaviors than what we already have for things like the proboscis monkey.
  • Would add yet another asian primate onto the pile of asian primates we have gotten from packs all the way back to SEA pack.
Gelada
Pros:
  • Unique to the roster, we don't have any "Baboons" in the game (I know its not a true baboon but it would fill the gap).
  • Colourful, maybe not be as colourful as Hamadryas but is still colourful.
  • Big one I didn't think of until now, Baboons spend most of their time grazing around on the ground, since we know frontier challenges themselves with the climbing mechanics, would it not be a better decision to go with a monkey that spends most of its time on the ground?
  • Would be the first African primate we get since the B&W ruffed lemur (which was low effort being an anniversary animal).
  • Would use the chorus behavior (Video below).

  • Has a variety of other species it can be combined with for interspecies bonus (if we get them in the future such as barbary sheep, hyrax, etc).
  • Can introduce several unique animations like shaking fluff in the wind, their upper lip thing (idk how to describe it).
  • Common in captivity.
Cons:
  • May not be the most appealing to a general audience, however this can be worked around by keeping it out of the key art.
  • Would require a bit of work for new animations however with the rest of the roster being mainly clones (bear, pallas cat, markhor, takin, etc) I think enough time would be provided to add detail to this animal and its behaviors.
OMG THEIR BUTTS. THEY’RE SQUARES!

Well we need to add a few to that Pros list:
  • It's endangered so there is a conservation purpose to raise awareness and breed them in zoos
  • They are from a different region (China) to the other Asian primates, a country that doesn't have primate rep yet. Asia is big yo.
  • We have been informed in this thread that it is iconic to zoos in China, in fact it sets the standard, the Gold Standard, if you will, to qualify a zoo as having a good collection
  • It could have lovely colour morphs
  • The babies are ZOMFG cute af
  • It looks entirely nothing like the proboscis, who is an ugly boi, this one is a pretty girl/boy and has the opposite nose, innie v outy

I wouldn’t mind a golden snub-nosed monkey. I’d have to build an East Asian, probably Japanese zoo though.

I get why people would find it frustrating though, in terms of monkeys which I think should be prioritised it would be way down the list.

A South American mountain combo not discussed nearly enough is the Andean flamingo and viscacha!! They’re not in my list necessarily, but I would not be mad at either being included and they could be a fun exhibit pairing
I would trade the Viscacha for a Chinchilla, but that’s just me 😅

Viscachas are great, I love the way they permanently look like they're just about to nod off

No ones in denial or against another scenery pack, its just extremely unlikely, I listed the reasons here:
We have completely opposite views and im going to leave it at that.
Y'all are proving my point with if you moan more about GSNM more people will talk about wanting it. Might as well just not bring it up at all if you don't want it. It'd be nice if we could talk about other mountain animals other than markhor, takin, gelada, pallas cat and andean bear 💀
Its basically the saying any publicity is good publicity the more we talk about it the more people discover or are converted to liking it. personally im neutral to the whole debate.
also please no more pallas cat talk that thing already gets enough discussion same with the takin and markhor.

Ngl if we manage to get a bird in the mountain pack and its another flamingo im gonna faint
It is the most likely scenario. I hope they go the pheasant path though, but a flamingo is easier (cheaper) since it would pretty much be a reskin with some model tweaks.

Edit: and that is why i don't understand how more flamingos are so high priority in a lot of people wishlists, specially the american one since it is basically a potential malayan tapir situation 2.0.

This is why I don’t want nor think we will get birds this next pack. There’s more interesting mammals imo, pheasants and monal seem unlikely cause we’ve never gotten anything that reuses the peafowl rig yet, and a flamingo is kinda eh compared to a mammal that even though yea it’s a mammal, would still be very unique.

Well if anything that should mean that is time to re use it lol

I think pheasants need more time and resources because of their complex feathers displays. None of the birds we have gotten have any feathers like that. Pretty much all ratites and penguins. Only more complex one (apart from the peafowl) is the crane and barely.

In a different world id like another flamingo, but with the abyssmal amount of birds we get i want every one as unique as possible. It already feels so bad that every single bird, with one exception, we got since release was either a ratite or penguin, both are pretty much the unbirdiest bird groups there are.
And then getting another flamingo instead of golden pheasant or monal would just be a slap in the face for ever bird enjoyer

And here i am agreeing with you but at the same time desperatly wanting a rhea 🥲😅
