Winter 2023 DLC Speculation

Yeah the thing with the rhea is that it is pretty much essential for me for true rep of my local fauna. They are so common in mixed exhibits and they are even found in farms. And i've seen them in the wild in a lot of different places in my country. So they are pretty much a necessity for me.
Similar to the mara. Haven't seen them in the wild but they are very common in zoos here.
Yeah i get that the rhea is an important animal regarding representation of southern south america and due to its abundance in zoos, to me its just such a meh animal because we already got the ostrich, emu and cassowary.
When it comes to SA habitat birds there are just so many more interessting options imo, muscovy duck, southern screamer and spoonbill to name just a few
I have been wondering, some people have so much opinion on golden monkeys, is it just not like? Or are they worried that he's taken up the so-called "baboon slot"?
The anual primate slot is more accurate i think
With nearly 500 pages (woo!) on this discussion alone, I'm sure it's been brought up... but how would you all feel if our next dlc was an East Asia Animal Pack instead of all the leading concepts? I've got like nothing indicating that that's what we're getting, it's just a little thought I had earlier this morning, and I realised it'd fit a winter theming.
Here's what I've come up with:
1. Raccoon Dog - Flagship animal. Either species works, there's not too much distinction off the top of my head. One of the most unique canines still missing from the roster and a shoe-in as a cute filler animal.
2. Takin - The big one for us here on the forum. Don't think I need to really explain this one.
3. Golden Pheasant - Bird. Pretty bird. Shame the peafowl is still our only galliform.
4. Japanese Serow - ZT1 veteran that everyone forgets about. Lil fluffy goat with neat conservational history. Smaller ungulates are always neat.
5. Golden Snub-Nosed Monkey - I know we're currently in the midst of a war with this monkey specifically, but if it's added here it at least isn't competing with a baboon. I still think it's interesting and worth including, so here's an option that should hopefully annoy less people.
6. Saiga Antelope or Pere David's Deer - Larger, heavily endangered ungulate options. One has very little captive presence, whilst one is only found in captivity.
7. Chinese Alligator - Easy "clone" species that has been gaining in captive representation as of late thanks to it's small size and critical status.
E. Chinese Giant Salamander - Kinda obvious. They're the most interesting exhibit option here imo.

It’s taking the spot of a monkey that would do such more to the games roster as far as variety goes (this would be the baboon obviously)
I actually thought about this when I got up this morning lol. But I shot it down cause we already have the SouthEast Asia Animal Pack. I like most of these picks, but overall I wouldn’t really be interested in a full Asian roster. I just want them to go back to global animal packs like grasslands or wetlands, the true GOATS of animal packs imo.
I’d prefer scenery but disagree that what we’ve seen so far suggests a scenery pack. Far more likely (IMO) that we get a shop and a few bits of scenery in the free update (it’d be weird to get the shop for free but the props not).
The only things that I'm like actively against is something like a Thomson's gazelle, wait darn we already have that! Or like an African leopard lol. I just don't want anything that's kinda indistinguishable from animals we already have. If it's at least a bit different I don't mind it.I don't understand how some people can be against the fact that a species would enter the game. I mean I have my favorite species too but I have never been against one I don't particularly like. At best I can be disappointed but I'm going to buy all the DLCs anyway. Or maybe I don't get a joke here
Would kinda prefer something like a central Asia pack. Could have a few popular picks like an Indian monkey, markor, wild boar and such. Would probably work better as a scenery pack though.
tinamous arent even true ratites but yeah rheas are the only major group of ratites left and would make a great south america addition better than the tinamou anyways.
People are under the impression we will get one monkey a year so they dont want it to be that
I can see them doing an Asia animal pack different enough from south east asia and can focus on both central and east asia it would also cover a large majority of what people want in highlands
I just cant see them making enough scenery to make the gift shops worth while and have 8 animals so either the animal will be worse to compensate or we will get a total of like 10 gift shop items that we have seen and thats it.
So, I haven't been a huge fan of the idea of a Tundra Pack or especially a Tundra Animal Pack (I still think Alpine is more likely), but here's one that I would thoroughly enjoy. It's a scenery pack, because I honestly don't think we need an animal pack. I would love if the scenery was inspired by the ingenious populations of the arctic. Maybe fulfill the theory of getting a NA scenery set.

I know a 4th penguin is not likely, especially since we just got ome, but I want another! I would love another to make a penguin complex with two cold weather penguins, instead of mixing the king with the warm weather ones. Aldo it would be nice to have a crested species too.

And the exhibit species is not the most lucrative, but I can't think of anything for the walkthrough and any lucrative lizards or snakes are not found in the tundra, so wood frog it is! Decent captive presence in the NA, don't know about the rest of the world

With all the general talk of the gelada I feel most people choose this animal over the Hamadryas baboon simply because the gelada is more associated with mountains. Not everyone but the meta wishlist shows who the true king of baboons is and by quite a wide margin. I will enjoy either one and make use of whichever one we receive. In a perfect world we’d get both plus either the Olive or Guinea baboon which have grown on me. Since zt2 featured the gelada I would definitely like to see the Hamadryas even in a said mountain pack even as a underdog in this particular pack. I can remember zt2 even though I’d use the gelada quite often eventually a very popular user made pack came out called Arabian nights for all the longtime zt2 community members would recognize and it featured a Hamadryas baboon which was amazing as to my knowledge till then never had a presence in a zoo sim. So with possibly one baboon coming to PZ I hope frontier carves their own path and chooses this guy.
I agree! Like, seriously, it seems almost hypocritical when people say an animal shouldn't be in game. EVERYONE wishes for clones of some sort...I don't understand how some people can be against the fact that a species would enter the game. From a casual perspective--people who don't have a strong favorite canine or feline or antelope--there are only so many unique mammals that can headline a pack. The wolverine, a baboon, a walrus, maybe the markhor for just how unique its appearance is. If we assume that aviary birds and fully-aquatics are off the table, what's really left other than habitat birds? Is a blackbuck or a coyote really going to turn more heads than a swan or pelican?
This is definitely the most perfect DLC for me,And Chinese alligators can use caves
Congratulations everyone we are now one day closer to news, I’m honestly surprised I haven’t gone mentally insane yet, but baboons really got me distracted lol. Just hoping tomorrow breezes by so we can get to Monday and Tuesday for the reveal
