Winter DLC Speculation

Secretly wants both Maned Wolf and Raccoon Dog 🤐
That's why I like you so much ❤️
Guys, i need to ask: why is the tanuki so desired? For me is like very very bizarre and strange, my lowest wishlist animal in the game, but im interesed of your opinion and why do you want in the game this animal
Super nice encounters and memories with one in a zoo. That stinker stole my heart and made me a fan.

Honestly, I feel like the tanuki is relatively mundane compared to most of the remaining somewhat-requested canids. More bizarre than the stilt-legged maned wolf, the tiny bush dog, or the tree-climbing gray fox? Take away the the mythological connotations, and you're just left with a fox that looks like a raccoon.

Which is exactly why I like them so much. Or at least, part of it, because my love for them feeds from many sources. But the fact that they're a somewhat dopey, somewhat sly, very charismatic small carnivore does them a lot of favors with me. They're a species that has captivated me since early childhood, as soon as I first discovered that the weird power-up from Super Mario Bros. 3 was actually based on a real animal. Why wasn't this animal in any of my animal picture books, why was it never featured in the kids' animal documentaries I binged? Tanukis were such an enigma, and always stood out to me for this complete absence.. As I grew older and became engrossed in Japanese culture and media, their presence became impossible to ignore. Two of my favorite anime works feature tanuki protagonist families (Studio Ghibli's Pom Poko film, as well as the TV series The Eccentric Family). But it was the surprise of seeing two tanukis at Zoo Atlanta about a decade ago, well before I obsessively kept track of the animal rosters of zoos I've never been to before, that really put them over the top in my heart. Two brothers, Loki and Thor, the most charming creatures in the zoo. My then-fiancée, now-wife and I could just watch those two goofballs for hours, and we probably did on at least one occasion. Tanukis have arguably been my favorite animal ever since. Well, them or red pandas. I say red pandas in casual conversation, at least.

So naturally, tanukis have been my #1 most wanted in this game ever since I first learned of its existence. And my reasons for wanting them are much more robust than some of my past or present second- or third-place picks (binturong, Matschie's tree kangaroo, common genet) where as much as I like them there's no real deeper connection than "I just think they're neat".

Average intelligence has been on the decline since the early to mid 20th century, not just a few years, sadly.

This was proven to be result of leaded gasoline. It's also been linked to increased crime rates through the 60s-80s. The next generation should be unaffected by this, at least, but who knows what being constantly online does to brain development...

But back to animals. Tanukis are super cute and have really interesting mythology ascribed to them. Personally, I can substitute a racoon and pretend it's a tanuki, but I understand why people want them and think that they would be a great pick for an island pack.

How? They look so different. Can't understand how some People can even actually confuse those two Species with each other
I mean, I was substituting red pandas for racoons previously so... but suspension of disbelief varies widely for me. I can't pretend that an ostrich is an emu or an Asian black bear is an American black bear for example. It might be because I've met those animals in person and am more aware of the difference, while with tanukis I've never been lucky enough to see on in person I've been WAY too close for comfort with wild racoons though so, ??

I also think we need a break from the canines now, or maybe a full stop depending on the number of DLCs we got left.
Even the popular maned wolf would be better to save for later I think. It goes by the nickname red fox on stilts after all.
The Maned Wolf as actual number 2 on the wishlist which is only 8 votes behind the Tasmanian Devil should come into a pack hopefully. And I personally really would not mind the Bush Dog, too. It is a so special looking species. But afterwards I would be okay if this would be the end with canines.

Edit: Actual top 5 canines
2 Maned Wolf 248 votes
55 Bush Dog 64 votes
67 Tanuki 46 votes
106 Coyote 25 votes
124 Bat-eared Fox 21 votes

Except the Maned Wolf no further canine species seems to be very popular around our community

I really like canine species and I’d love several more, but if the Maned Wolf ends up being the only other we get, I’ll still be happy.

I just hope everything from the meta list’s current top 10 makes it in. Its a good cutoff point for really popularly requested animals that have put in a strong showing from the lists inception.

I was just checking this earlier. Can't believe the tanuki is currently the third highest voted canid. If support keeps going and they keep up the current rate of DLC dogs (6/11), it may very well end up happening. I can't believe it.

I personally want more canines. Arctic fox to red fox was an entire cycle of dlcs and the 3rd of both fall dlcs.
I could honestly see frontier throwing an oddball such as a jackal or a coyote in the future.
I think we are probably gonna get a break from foxes for the time being, would be nice to have the bat eared but we got 3 foxes.

Yeah but that gap....of course, frontier does not have to be beholden to the meta list. But I think we can all agree that even if it's not officially said, they do take some of their animal choices from it.

I think I've got 4 canines in my top 20., oddly enough not the raccoon dog. I'm constantly surprised by the lack of support for the Bat-Eared Fox, but as with my other post, we're to the point of a lot of our personal favorites to not have as much support as a whole. I think the top dozen or so animals do show up on a lot of lists, which is why they're more visible and more bantered about - constant talk about the Sloth, Maned Wolf, Emu, Porcupine, Tasmanian Devil, Red River Hog and other higher-ranked animals reinforces the more obvious group of animals that may have a greater likelihood of Frontier choosing from. But for me, I'd love the Bat-Eared Fox, maybe it's too close in design to the Fennec Fox to really be wanted much.

Somehow I still don't understand exactly why most of you want the 3rd or 4th representative of a species when there are some species that don't even exist in the game yet... Is it just me thinking like this?
Would you rather take a tanuki than a marten or a hare, for example? (Imagine what Leaf and co could do with a hare rig...)
Of course everyone has their favourites. Since the capybara has been in the game, I've been wanting a walrus (along with tons of birds), but then animals immediately follow where we don't yet have a representative of the species. Eg kinkajous, hares, porcupines, civets, I could go on and on with this list...
And to be honest, I don't think that when we get a tanuki it's going to have fluffy fur, more like the summer fur variety. I mean look at the Dhole or the Red Fox.
That's not to say that I don't like tanukis, but I think there are other species that need more love. Right now the game feels like we're playing Planet Predator 😆

To be honest, there has yet to be a pack with only unique rigs/animals. There always will be some "clones"/similar animals that we already have, so that is where animals that might be similar yet popular really comes handy for. I would like as many unique animals as possible, but at the same time, some of my favourites are similar niches or already represented families. For example I think we really, really need an emu, even if we already have ratites.

And personal wishes...well, cant help those. :D

Its more wishful thinking, but maybe if I say it often enough, it will become true:

A pettingzoo pack. It comes with a free update that allows guest to interact with animals like peafowl and lamas. The interactions are "feeding", "annoy" and "petting"; the animals get the behaviors "chase guests" and "beg". Animals also get assigned a temper, so a mean tempered animal will chase guests more often, while a mild tempered animal will never chase guests unless annoyed. Guests and animals will gain unhappiness/stress from bad interactions. Security guards will kick out guests who annoy animals.

The new animals will be:
some sort of goat
some sort of chicken
a draft horse
shetland ponies
some kind of grasshopper as an exhibit animal.

For the scenery, we will get a "farmland" theme, with rows of pumpkins, tractors, and barns. We will also get some decorational playground items for guests.

Of course, I didn't claim otherwise.
I just wanted to point out that, besides Rhino 3 or Fox 4 or Bear 20, there are other animals that haven't made it into the game yet and about which hardly a word is said. And I just think that's a shame.
And we honestly absolutely need an Emu! I've been waiting extra with my Australia section in the hope that there will be Emus in the autumn DLC. Yeah no bird since Wetlands Pack 🥺

I'd like to see what you post in this Thread then https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threa...nything-we-currently-have-in-the-game.609719/

YEEEES!!!!

Admit it. You want this to see Llamas spit at the Guests😆🦙

a draft horse
At first I wanted to write a Donkey would fit better but every new Equine in the Game will be awesome. I hope if we should get a Breed like that we'll also get a Variantion that looks like the one from the Place I've worked at until I couldn't work and needed to go to the Hospital (really hope if I should be able to get the new Job I'll still be able to help there sometimes on Weekends or Holidays)

And we honestly absolutely need an Emu!
Absolutely think the same. In my Opinion even a whole DLC with australian Birds would be absolutely awesome. So many Species I want to keep in my Zoos

domestic pig
A Mini Pig would be nice or Kune Kune or Vietnamese Pot bellied Pig🐖🐖🐖
