[WIP] The Elite Ship One Glance Reference

Asp S the only unloved, purposeless, slow, ship in ED only flown by people that are madder than a box of frogs! ;) (that includes me BTW!)

Viper 4 joint best stock armour/hull (ties with DBE) for a small single seat ship but has more internals for HRP so potentially one of the toughest small ships.

@ Graxxor how about adding a best/funniest/obscure name section to each of the ships? e.g FDS Federal Drift Ship style

Some of my observations:

Type-6
+ Makes a very good budget explorer - low price, good jump range, lots of internal space, good cockpit visibility
+ Fastest boost medium pad ship (tied with FAS)

Cobra Mk4
+ Excellent hardpoint placement (all hardpoints on top side very close together)
- Slowest of all small pad ships

DBX
+ Best jump range for combat fit ship (A rated modules, weapons, maximum shield and armor)
/ Heaviest hull small ship (not really a positive, but it means that jump range and speed change very little with outfitting and cargo load)

Beluga
+ Biggest fuel tank

Imp. Courier
+ Cheap when A-rated thanks to very small internal modules

Type-9
+ Can make 8 full length jumps without refuelling thanks to the combination of fuel tank size and FSD class

Type-10
+ 2nd highest mass lock factor (26) after Imp. Cutter

Ah, single seaters as a defining criteria, subcategorising Small... Nice idea.

Nice Idea.

When i start playing properly this will be really handy, thanks for everyone's input and why is it not a sticky thread or some such. Elite Dangerous is a terrible game at giving the player information, stuff like this is essential to play the game better.

Thanks for the encouragement, Zak.

As it happens, Alec Turner has added it to the "Best of the Forum ⤴️" sticky at the top of the "ship, weapon stat's [sic] and and combat tips" category.

Imp eagle
+cheapest dedicated interceptor
+one medium two small over the three small eagle
-less manoeuvreble then the eagle
\impearal customised Eagle

Thank you... Nice selection... repped and added.

Trying to address a few of the less obvious aspects...

Dropship: +cheapest effective hull tank. (Edit: not entirely true as a competent pilot could quite conceivably make a reasonable hull tank of an AspE)

Federal corvette: +best placed modules for protection of the big 3.

iClipper: -pretty much the most appalling hardpoint convergence of anything combat worthy

DBS/DBX: +Can confirm these as the lords of cool running

FDL: +most popular PvP ship

Will add relevant things as I remember them.

Good page but definitely could do with some reorganisation.

Repped and added....

Reorganisation? Ship order? Stats order?

Didn't finish reading the list, but I don't recall the imperial eagle being first imperial ship in the game, that was the clipper. Perhaps you meant first imperial ship available to low ranked commanders?

Edit: also anytime you list something like "fastest unengineered ship in the game" it might be worth noting if that's with a combat build or a racer. Not sure but pretty sure a combat iEagle is faster than a combat Viper (though of course this depends on your combat build and likely to vary)

Still good initiative.

Directly related to its speed, + Imperial Cutter is fastest ship by a huge margin to support a fighter bay.

+ Federal Corvette - Supports Quad SCB Banking (7+7+6+6) without heat issue.
