They have 300 developers. Sadly only 100 is dedicated to ED, so you're right.Yes, but it would require 101 developers. We dont have that many.

Relax folks.
It's just a vote for which system this ferry with use, and we get to decide it.
The actual in game stuff probably isn't ready to launch yet, so they're probably just trying to tick things over on here for the time being.

On the other hand, a ingame voting system reaches all players. A forum based system reaches what? 1% of the players? 10%? 20%? Surely not 100%.A voting mechanism in game would mean you have to built, test and distribute it to (potentially) 2 mil game installations, while a central voting mech on the forums is updated in erm... minutes? (sry Brett).
Anywho, I can understand, for something as new as this and to see how thing fair, that they do it the way they do. I can also imagine, that if this is indeed the way forward, that it will be replaced with a ingame version.
Either way, are external tools a bad thing?

For me, the guardian thing wasn't too far at all. In fact going out there was most of the fun. I've been out there two or three times and still haven't gone through the steps required to unlock anything. There's just too much arcade level gameplay going on there and I just couldn't bring myself to do it. That little sister Planet there so has some pretty cool materials on it.As you've probably seen the firsf Interstellar Initiative is upon us and the goal is to VOTE VIA THE FLITE DANGEROUS FORUM!
Even FDev is now resorting to external tools to make the game playable.
The vote itself is almost completely inconsequential as it will determine which of several systems that are close together will host a station for a ferry to Guardian sites.
It is also unclear why such a ferry would be necessary as the distance isn't that far and only serves to highlight that access to certain ingame items have been locked behind auch a grindwall amd convoluted gameplay that they had to create a bypass so new players could access Guardian content.
Of course my cynical side thinks that this is just FDev putting the cart before the horse and the guardian stuff is about to feature prominently in upcoming content....like grinding guardian materials to synthesize reloads for new guardian weapons....establishing a new time-sink currency.
If you're going to do an ingame ferry, why not Colonia?
....but most importantly if you're going to add a replacement for CGs into the game, why not....ya know....put it IN THE GAME?
is Elite turning into a "choose your own adventure" book where everyone votes on the forum and then reads about it in Galnet?
Like i said in the other thread, i'll reserve judgement until i see how it all unfolds, but the start isn't promising in my eyes.
I hope they also use this opportunity to give PvPers something special to do as well, since they are crying out for content which allows them to utilize their skills. For example, one week could have the results decided by PvP kills within a certain system. 1 kill = 1 vote. Have the result have some sort of significant outcome.
They even managed to break CQC with the last update, and it's no even a part of the update.
complainodrama. Like it, I'm nicking that. Never any shortage of potential uses around here. And where is the negative stuff you promised with the thread's name? Oh, I see, it's just that complainodrama thing again that's going around on the internet...
