Dear gods, why did i never think of this?!
When you have to decide between icecream with your friends, and a cargo mission... Take the icecream!
It's easily overlooked - it only occurred to me the other day when I was thinking about ways to set up my firegroups with two scanners and an interdictor.
if you're going to do combat extensively, turn off the voice script for flight assist on and off, so you don't have to hear it 10,000 times a session.

Enjoy your Sidewinder. It's a very well-rounded ship that can do everything the game has to offer. Don't jump into the next thing, you will come to love that Sidewinder.

Oh man, biggest thing I wish I'd known is that hitting ESC (at least playing Solo) does not actually pause the game in any sense that you're probably used to. If you're SC'ing or, god forbid, in a battle, you're probably going to come back an hour later and find yourself dead. I only hit ESC and Save and Exit when i'm on a landing pad. Plus your mission gets voided.

Although it might seem like a good idea, don't store bread in the fridge; it partially crystallises the complex carbohydrates and, although you were trying to keep it fresh, it actually gives it a kind of stale texture.
