"working on something secret for PC and Mac"

So if FD didn't raise the extra cash what then? They would have stiffed us?
It's a bit dishonest to do a kickstarter for a game with a funding goal that if met still isn't enough to develop the game.
I think someone expected the same level of funding as that other space game, risky bet.

Actually I remember Michael saying that the codebase would be released to the public domain if it was no longer commercially viable for FD.

After that, as a community based project who knows what would be possible..

Don't forget the continuous crowdfunding that carried on up till "release".

When will that happen? In 10 years? David left the "ten year plan" bit out, accidentally I suppose?

No, a few months,

Some of us have waited decades for this game, just wait for a few more months!!

Can't get excited any more, the last three 'big' updates were somewhat lacklustre after all.

Sadly I have to agree. I´m much more looking forward to some serious POLISHING of the game (or game framework) as it is. There is still a LOT of things which need some serious love, polishing and tweaking. The orrery view of the system map imho would falll in the category polishing.

Plenty...

I am trying to think of a question to ask, which you can answer and give us interesting stuff without getting yourself in trouble with FD or giving us any specifics...... So here goes!......

In your opinion (which we cant hold you to) with what you have seen so far behind closed doors do you think 12 months from now many of the early backers who just wanted a new elite and are worried now will look back at these panic threads and smile knowing it mostly turned out ok in the end despite a rocky month or so?

Why do people use this as a defense? This game was kickstarted, they asked for the amount needed to complete the game that was detailed on the kickstarter. If FD can't provide what they promised with the money they had from the kickstarter then that was their mistake. If they wanted to keep moving the goalposts during development, then they should never have used Kickstarter.

That's exactly how I think.

I already think that. Just take a look at the threads from 6 months ago and you can see that ;)

hehe .. nice try Commander .. though I have a feeling even this carefully worded question, would be more than Kerrash's next ED ambassador gig would be worth, to answer ;)

Personally I think it's pretty nuts to think FD would aim to squander quality in ED, for a few quick releases now that completely ignore both the meta of what people, everybody, wants to see in ED in the long term, plus polishes, plus bug fixes .. which a relatively small studio has been pushing out at a rate of knots up until now. Why people on forums can't see that's FD doing the job both as quickly as possible AND to a high standard as possible, is a little bit beyond me.

We know there are planned (hoped for) paid expansions, FPS and planet landings but I can imagine several more that, if all goes well, we could see in the future. And FD, believe me, WILL be thinking of the long term. It's just too far out there to think they'd be hiring people, on the express intention of laying them all off again just as soon as they can. If income over expenditure was all FD cared about they'd never have employed them in the first place. Non?

OK Kerrash, I have a question for you that you can answer ...

Yes or no, have you signed an NDA from Frontier Developments?

For some reason I thought you 2 were friends in the meat space.... in which case maybe it would be safer to ask that one in person ;)

No, the best way would be an epic pubathon, after ten pints of premium ale we would know everything!
