worst/funniest docking experience ever, lol

So, yesterday was a rough day. Work sucked, car wouldnt start, walked home and almost got hit by a car. But im home, i have elite, i have dinner and im not sober anymore. Im at a station, i pick up some weapons for trade and head off to make some money. Well on my way i get update to go to another system, its on the way. Ok ill stop there first(its a station that you enter). Well i go to dock and i forgot to request docking, trespassing, thats fine 1. I forgot i had goods that are illegal in that system, thats fine 2. i freak out and try to flip around, smash into the side. I finally wiggle free and get out. So i think im far away enough to abandon cargo. Luckily i only had 2 weapons. I abandoned cargo to close to the station. Thats fine 3 and 4. I turn around and go back. I request docking. I get in and cant find my dock(it was hidden in the front line under the door).I get stuck in the side, fine for loitering, fine 5. I find my dock finally and go to dock. I went to the pad over on accident and get blocking a pad, fine 6. And i move over and finally get inside. Ive never gotten one fine for breaking rules at a station and i managed 6(thats if i didnt forget any). Racked up a 3600 fine. No thats not alot but when each fine is like 350... Lol. It was ridiculous. I couldnt believe how much of a fail that was. Thought it was a funny story and had to share.

Thanks for listening commandes.
May the stars be with you.

Nice to see that this is not a rage quit post.

I often play, after a sip or two; however, it is not advised.

6 fines and the station did not kill you; things must have improved. Or the local faction, is one of those flower power hippy types.

I like stories like this. Glad to see you're not taking your own self too seriously to enter the Pretend Spaceman Failympics. :D I think we've all been there.

Lol yea, i was worried about being attacked as soon as i trespassed. Thats why i panicked trying to leave and crashed into the side. Yea, i didnt rage quit cause i can dock just fine.... Normaly lmao. I kept goin tho. Just concentrated harder on my next couple docks. They were rough but no fines, lol.

Elyk, watch your directional indicator on the top left of your scanner. As soon as you traverse the stations atmosphere curtain, it will immediately stop pointing at the station and start pointing at your designated bay. You can also use this to work out where the obscured landing pads are on outpost style stations or even to land blind vertically (it flips to hollow when its behind you, so if you are moving slow and you see it change you know the pad is directly beneath you).

Did you get a fine for abandoning your mission? That would be fine 7 :D
.
You didn't accidentally fire your guns, ram a NPC ship, or block the mailslot, so that's three fines you didn't manage.

Try hitting that drop cargo button inside a corolis. I did that once with my Clipper 240t of Paladium down the drain and a nice spam of 240 fine messages I had to pay in excess of the paladium loss. And of course it was leaving the station so I had to redock, pay the fine and rebuy the cargo. I actually managed to scoop 10 before the timer made me leave ;) Scooping inside a corolis is by the way not that easy ;)

Since than I disabled that damn cargo drop key ;)

I flew out to Maia and picked up some Meta-Alloys. Grabbed all the ones I could buy and figured I'd give some to a friend. He forgot this limpets for his collector so after I dropped the first one I went to scoop it back up. Hit the eject cargo button instead... I managed to scoop 8-9 of them, but when I checked my hold only one was inside. Seems there's no stolen state for Meta-Alloys, if they get dumped in any way other than discarded, they are gonners.

I was sad, but my friend was sadder. He had to fly all the way to Maia for his Meta-Alloys! At least I got to keep 1!

I had the most wonderful docking experience in quite awhile.....NOT !!!

Took my Mining FDS to a pristine ring. Spent over 2 hours mining very selectively. After a little over 2 hours, I had a hold of 75 Painite, and 21 Platinum. HOLY COW !!! this was the motherlode for me. So, I leave the ring, and jump to the nearest station, 39LY away. Got interdicted 3 times by the same Elite Anaconda. I submit, boost, and RUN LIKE HELL !!! All 3 times. Finally, I get to the station, it gives me the safe to drop indicator, I hit the key to drop out of supercruise, and .....pause.....pause.....pause....suddenly, INTERDICTION !!     ?? How am I being interdicted after I already chose to drop. Sigh.

I boost like crazy, get into the no fire zone, followed in, and now the cops respond. I spin around, and leave the no fire zone, lock on to the Elite Anaconda with my seeker missiles, and (checked to see that he had almost a 220K bounty), I fire. His shields are down, hull is at 15%, and.... my missiles hit a security ship. OMG !!!! This cannot suck any worse. Now the cops message me that lethal force is authorized. I run for the slot, and before I make it even close, the station opens fire one me and.... bye bye !

So, I lost the entire mother lode, 2.2 Mil in rebuy cost, 2 hours plus of my time and nothing to show for it. Sheesh !!

What ya gonna do. I knew it was too good a score. Seems like mother nature gives and then just when you think.. yay !! I'm in the clear and what a haul... BAM !!! The       slap.

So, that is my wonderful docking experience. Think I'll go make some chicken nuggets and go mining tomorrow. Tonight, I'm watching shark week on the discovery channel.

Later !

I was coming in to land on an Engineer base (IIRC it was Elvira Martuk).

The gravity was a bit high, I came in a bitfast, yanked the stick a bit hard, lowered the landing gears a bit soon and literally dropped into a ravine just short of the landing pad.

Luckily the shields held and my ship hovered out the hole for a slow gentle landing. Luckily no real life CMDRs around to witness that feat of airmanship

You got lucky. I made a new crater there a couple of weeks ago coming in way too hot in my AspX. Yeah, the gravity is a bit stronger there, lol.

Not sure if he has the higher gravity, but Lei Cheung's base is quite tricky to land on too. He also sited 3 landing pads inside a ravine for extra challenge. Talk about creating a demand for his own services.

My SOP for landing on planetary bases now is 4 pips to shields

Handing off to my docking computer and walking off to make a coffee. Forgot I'd turned it off at the last station due to the landing bug. Came back to find my anaconda in a ditch with one ring of shield left.

I don't have a docking story, because I love my docking computer. Even with the current flaw. But....

The other day I wasn't paying attention when I was leaving the station. Fiddling around with my buttons, and about to pull up my landing gear. Instead of pulling up...... I hit boost. BLAM!!! Right into the wall under the mail slot! Lost shields, and was down to like 50% hull. Yeah. Not a graceful exit.....

I laughed. I can imagine the "no's" that must have come out... "No, no no" .... then "Nooo, no no!!" And then some "Arrrhgs" probarbly followed by a few more "No's" :)

4 pips to shields sounds good, I will remember that one. +1

Last night I was getting a Sidewinder outfitted and ready to run from Sol to Sag A* and long story short version, I have no shields on this ship, I need the slot for a tank, so I do my normal "carrier type landing" a bit late on the pull up [woah] and one re-buy later  then I only did 3% damage to the hull that time. (Sidewinders are really easy to break, well for me ;)) To be fair this is the first time I have ever docked a ship with no shield by my choice!

I thought it was just me and my Asp had somehow gained the mass of a small sun! I have smacked into that damn canyon too many times to relate and still keep my pilots card.
