would you pay a subscription for ED?

In a year or two of it being fleshed out and if I was happy playing it I probably would.
Right now only if they desperately needed my money or else it would die a death.

If gladly let others pay a monthly subscription as long as I can still play for free.
Not enough content to justify a monthly sub for me yet.

Remember Conan online?

Went free to play pretty darn quick because of poor content......

ED might have done the same if it was subscription.
Probably better that it's not and it never does!

My gaming funds are very limited (I could go into the health and hard luck stories), but I won't, same as I will not/can not pay a monthly sub.

The game looked like it was worth it on day one, but too many things got messed up quite quickly to justify me paying for it even if I was able to.
But, if they sorted all the problems out and added some cool stuff, then it would be worth it. Not for me you understand, but on the value of the game itself.

Because the game is new and all, no...
However, this game does need money to remain operational... Servers and internet connections and staff.
Would we still have a strong community and Elite is running in funding problems, I would pay gladly an monthly fee to keep the game running, for I doubt they will be bringing us the solo off-line mode the initial promised.

No, I would not pay a monthly fee. If it would be a "real" MMO, I would think about it, but only if there would be also a mode without PvP.

A monthly fee?

No. Not a chance. I didn't kickstart a subscription MMO.

Yes I would.

In fact I dont see how ED will survive long term without it.

Probably in exactly the same way other games companies survive without charging monthly fees. By making other games. By releasing expansions or other paid content.

Couldn't do a poll as I'm on my phone, but there's the question, I personally would if meant to secure longevity of the game, ensuring bigger better updates, allowing the game to expand into what could be the game we want it to be, ensures costs for server maintenance etc, I would quiet happily pay a fiver a month for this, what do you reckon?

I'd happily pay. At the moment, I just buy some skins for the ships periodically as a reward for continuing to improve the game.

I wouldn't pay a subscription but I'd happily pay a fiver or so for major updates as DLC adding new real content such as planetary landings

No.
This game delivers some but misses a lot.

As it is released with "more to follow" - surely supporting something that has a good base and needs lots of fleshing out is a good idea? I think they're heading in the right direction, albeit slower than some would like and I'm happy to continue supporting that direction.

Yep, I would.

I don't have sufficient information about the economic state of FD, but I would be surprised if the price of skins/DLC's can cover the maintenance and further development of the game - long term. Obviously I hope I'm dead wrong :)

Going from Buy-to-Play to sub is near impossible, so I don't see it happening.

So for now I'll settle for buying skins for ships I don't fly, hoping it'll fund the game longer :)

No. Not until they sort out process and let us in on development arc with things like road maps and change logs, also a repeatable method of quality feedback in order to decide on what direction the game needs to go in would be standard.

I'd happily take receipt of an offline game, for the money I've already paid though.

Hell no .. not for a game with such poor network code.

Dedicated servers? yes, I might pay a monthly fee if they rebuild ;)

This game still lacks freedom that i need to consider paying monthly fee.
You say i can do whatever i want and go wherever i want?
One word: wageslave.
Especially when you own most expensive ships.

I would pay for subscription if that would greatly improve the content and quality of the game. One of the things I would really want to have is multi-screen support (e.g. like X-Plane).
