would you pay a subscription for ED?

No! I wouldn't pay a subscription!

And please don't give the developer the idea, or they may well implement it.

The price we paid was a fair price. End of story.
If there are any other bright ideas, that would cost us money, that you might want to tempt the developer with..... DONT!

Sorry but you ARE out then!. :(

right from kickstarter planetary landings and other major content like that was always going to be extra paid for DLC, so unless you got the season pass, which for 60 euros you did not, you are out of luck.

Thank you for letting me know, Mad Mike! :)

Well, if they ask for more than 5 € for planet landing and that stuff then I will gladly go back and play Frontier from 1993 (Amiga). Cancelling the offline mode made me angry enough already. I won't pay over 70 € for a game! That is just ridiculous and in all honesty it would be greedy.

I suppose it depends on how you look at, and approach, games.

I've got every single WoW expansion, from new.

Release date retail prices:

World of Warcraft: $49.99
The Burning Crusade: $39.99
Wrath of the Lich King: $39.99
Cataclysm: $39.99
Mists of Pandaria: $39.99
Warlords of Draenor: $49.99

Game + expansions total: $259.94

And that's without the sub.

Worth it? Yes.
Will ED be worth it to me? Yes. :)

If you aren't prepared to spend money on more content, that's fine - you just don't get that content. It's not greedy. You're paying for their hard work, and no - 70 euro's is no where near enough for years upon years of content releases; how do you expect them to get any money? They need to turn a profit, otherwise: No money. No developers. No servers. No game.

No, this game does not work like that. I will get the expansions if they are worth it but will defiantly not pay a monthly fee.

I would happily pay a subscription if they moved from p2p to proper MMO style hosted servers.
Even if they gave us the option to rent our own servers I would definitely do this, even if it only worked for private groups.

Not this again.
Like I said in all other threads: if you want to pay Frontier money every month then setup your bank to do a standing order to their account. I'm sure they will give you the details.

leave us people who have bills to pay, car to run and a spose in our lives to play without more pay.

You assume wrongly btw way that I don't have these things, I also have a job, family, bills, car....etc, DLC will be paid, so what if you paid £5 per month and got all future updates free for the life of the game, Mmo's have these, Wow, has both, online pew pew games COD, AC etc all have DLC paid, I think your being shortsighted Imo. It was mearly a question, there is much rage from many respondents, shame, nvm, I'll personally enjoy the ride, no matter what, paid dlc, subs, online shop, I'll happily pay the cost of a packet of s or two beers for a great game and great content, have fun commanders no matter what you do.

No, would not pay a subscription. I joined during PB1 and received a lifetime of free updates and I expect this to cover all future development and day to day maintenance and updates. It's the primary reason I joined at that time.

I would happily pay a 5er per month once the game is more complete and they add more life to the universe. But I think its gonna take at least another year of development before the game is in a state where I would want to support a montly subscription model.

This. I go with this option as well. Thanks,

Can you show me where it states this, I also joined during beta, but where does it state that and I quote, that you'll receive a lifetime of free updates, maintenance and everything else? I may have missed this!! Having said that, it was just a question! I would, Some others would, you and others wouldn't, Games terms and conditions change, bank account terms and conditions change, insurance t&c's change, If FD asked me pay them the cost of a packet of cigarettes to keep this game going and not close down due to drop in player base and or sales, I would, no problem.

I joined in Premium Beta 1, not beta. Big difference.

When I started a few weeks ago, I would have said yes. There is a big galaxy to explore out there. I was looking forward to trying the various "careers" over time. But the reality at the moment, it is a lot of grind to get a different set of triangles and textures. The game play does not really change at all..........And recent "improvemnts" and suggested "improvements" that are maybe in the pipeline, have me wondering if I will be playing next week......
..
The only thing I am doing is RES hunting at the moment, tried mining, trade, grind grind grind......and did you see the stat on Exploring? 1000s and 1000s of systems explored, amounting to some 0.00000002% of all systems......The grind to end all grinds.....lol..............but I am having fun, with my limited time, at RES...........if they nerf that, so that I have to travel light years to find new sites, to do the same things.....then they have not improved the game play, just put more road blocks in front of the fun stuff....................I, and many others don't have time to grind...........so as I say, if they just make it too hard, long winded, or even MORE grindy, before you can do the fun stuff.........I am not sure about playing next week, never mind long term subscription.

If they do not introduce a subscription, then I will support them by buying vanity items like skins etc.
If they do introduce a subscription, then I will just simply abandon the game and they will see no more of my money.

Ok! and?..... so where does it state that you get these? I'm not looking for an argument, I'm just asking a question, Where does it state this?

As I said t&c's change, things change, save the game and pay a fiver monthly or not save the game and let it sink, be shortsighted and sorry when it's gone!!

Just saying, imho, those that wouldn't and say no no no,, should perhaps have a think about it, games disappear, servers close, developers cut funding, what if? I really hope it never comes to that, and we get everything free, but!! what if?
