would you pay a subscription for ED?

I don't see the point

I don't see the point in a subscription. Shore it would help with server costs, game maintenance and the like. But fore those willing to pot a little extra money in they already have a system in place. if you want to spend 5£ a month on the game do it on a paint job. Hell set up a system every month spend 5£ in the store. Problem solved. It is fore this reason I don't think the game needs a subscription.

Ok! and?..... so where does it state that you get these? I'm not looking for an argument, I'm just asking a question, Where does it state this?

As I said t&c's change, things change, save the game and pay a fiver monthly or not save the game and let it sink, be shortsighted and sorry when it's gone!!

Just saying, imho, those that wouldn't and say no no no,, should perhaps have a think about it, games disappear, servers close, developers cut funding, what if? I really hope it never comes to that, and we get everything free, but!! what if?

Use the search function if your so interested.

I have gotten my $150 worth of entertainment from this, so if it closes down tomorrow, I could care less.

Couldn't do a poll as I'm on my phone, but there's the question, I personally would if meant to secure longevity of the game, ensuring bigger better updates, allowing the game to expand into what could be the game we want it to be, ensures costs for server maintenance etc, I would quiet happily pay a fiver a month for this, what do you reckon?

In the future perhaps I would to ensure the game kept growing and being worked on etc. for now tho, I joined at beta, bought the game, bought lifetime expansion and most of the ship skins so I'm patiently waiting for all the announced content to be released as I've already paid for it.

Can you show me where it states this, I also joined during beta, but where does it state that and I quote, that you'll receive a lifetime of free updates, maintenance and everything else? I may have missed this!! Having said that, it was just a question! I would, Some others would, you and others wouldn't, Games terms and conditions change, bank account terms and conditions change, insurance t&c's change, If FD asked me pay them the cost of a packet of cigarettes to keep this game going and not close down due to drop in player base and or sales, I would, no problem.

Kickstarter backers if they pledged high enough, original backers app also had the opportunity and then it was offered during Premium Beta:

Beta didn't get it and lower level pledges did not either (unless upgraded) or Merc Edition.

Switching to subscription based system when most of those games which required subs that have now switched to F2P would make the offline issue seem a picnic and would do far more damage than than making it even worthwhile, Frontier know their financials and have much more they can do with their cosmetics side of things or even selling on Steam.

This whole thread imo, is a total waste of bandwidth if not simply bordering on trolling.

ditto this.

I bought at premium beta with the promise of lifetime content updates. They would need to refund me to the release price or offer some other inducement, or they are breaking their commitment.

No, I have already paid as a beta player. And in my present circumstances could afford more. :)

That obviously isn't a problem for FDev, ie eliminating offline play, so I wouldn't expect any compensation if they change their minds again...

This question has been asked a lot of times before, and oddly my position on this particular dead horse remains unchanged.

Absolutely no way.

And if they change to p2p I'll be asking for a full refund for the cost of my 'endless future expansions for life' pack.

But if you insist FDev have more of your money, go visit the store.

My original post said this was irrelevant, but upon correction he is right...

FDEV would likely try to make excuses on why they cannot refund, until a huge storm occurs across gaming media which "forces" their hand.

This is why I am against subs, not from a funding purpose, but rather it would create ill will and cause far more issues for FDEV than they could possibly take in via subs.

No.

Looks like a post needs to have at least eight characters before you can send it, so I'll write it again:

No.

I would put some money down each month if they did, though they are hoping to fund the future of the game via the store. I know I buy the new skins when they come out as I will support a game that I like.

I would pay up to 5€ per month / 60€ per year. Alternatively, put more paintjobs in the shop, and give me an opportunity to admire my ship with an external camera (and do awesome screenshots of my ship in front of great sceneries) I'll probably spend this amount if not more anyways on new skins. Doesn't matter against the hundreds I already invested :)
