would you pay a subscription for ED?

Couldn't do a poll as I'm on my phone, but there's the question, I personally would if meant to secure longevity of the game, ensuring bigger better updates, allowing the game to expand into what could be the game we want it to be, ensures costs for server maintenance etc, I would quiet happily pay a fiver a month for this, what do you reckon?

Not in a million years. I hate subscription model games it's debatable if it really would increase revenue as a lot of casual players may be put off from buying. We already have sustainable revenue streams in the form of future DLC and of course the game store.

What are you referring to? There seem to be a lot more than 32 players zipping around at anyone one time.

No...... The hard limit on players (ie human CMDRs) is 32. I actually wonder if it is not actually less at the moment TBH. most I have seen in 1 instance is maybe 20.

I would happily pay a 5er per month once the game is more complete and they add more life to the universe. But I think its gonna take at least another year of development before the game is in a state where I would want to support a montly subscription model.

Yes (if I could have at least three different characters on one account).

I pay £5.99 a month for Netflix (which several members of my family can then use simultaneously). Personally I get around 5-6hrs a week of entertainment value from this.

Currently I get around 9hrs a week of entertainment value from Elite. If other members of my family could also play Elite (doesn't even need to be simultaneous - we've only got one computer) without having to buy (and install) their own copies then Yes, easily worth £5.99 a month.

As it is I worry that once everyone that's likely to play Elite has bought the game, FD's income is going to dry up. I'd really rather that didn't happen.

I'd pay £5 per month - in fact I've discussed this very topic with friends. People that are dead set against subs must realise that this can give games a limited life, especially online. Running servers costs money, and the price of a game doesn't cover this for very long...

FD should introduce an option for a £5 per month subscription, entirely optional (due to previous promises), but with incentives such as reduced insurance (at Alpha level), unlimited access to skins (while subscription active), and other such niceties. I'd sign up immediately.

No, I would not pay for a subscription.
I love the game (and would buy it again any day and will certainly buy the next content release) but I don't like 'cocaine effect'-type deals. They tend to add up and you end up losing control of your spending habits (monthly credit card fees, monthly cell phone fees, monthly gym subsriptions, etc., etc. ).

Pay once up-front is the best model for anything (from buying a car to buying a house to buying a video game). Anything else puts you on a leash.

Not a chance, in it's current form. In fact, I'd be walking away with the bitter taste of "Had I known I never would have shelled $70 to start with".

There are too many very big things that would have to change, to justify recurring charges.

Nope, I don't play enough to make a subscription economically justifiable. Plus I paid 150 euros for kickstarter (up to regular beta and free updates level) and premium beta, so I've already paid enough for three copies of the game and don't feel like getting bilked on a monthly basis as well.
