Congratulations AkenBosch, a brilliant achievement and, despite your original misgivings, a really excellently written and thoroughly entertaining travelogue! I'll update the OP of the Planetary Circumnavigation Club's thread when I get into the office and add your name to the membership list.

Thank you! That's apparently how I'm hardcoded, can't keep things serious for more than 0.35 seconds on average. Still not sure if that's an instinct to protect my mental sanity from the struggles of life, or if I'm struggling just because of that instinct. :)
Updates came a bit sluggish, but actually I think it took more time to organise screens, video, folders and write up stuff than to actually drive around (and writing in a language that's not mine probably slowed things tenfold), and RL stuff tried its absolute best to keep me constantly away from the hotas. It's just that once I got the hang and the tone of how things were going down there, I couldn't just limit myself to a couple random screenshots and a laconic "Yep I'm here. Hi mum." :D

P.S. have you started feeling the withdrawal symptoms yet? Not long after I was back in-ship after my circumnavigation I started to feel this pull and actually found it quite hard not to just head to another planet and do it all again.

It must be something hardwired in the human brains (or at least a specific part of the brain relevant to our kind) because...yes, totally. I was sure I wouldn't have wanted to set wheels on the ground again for some months at least...and yet...

Promptly, and with pride!

I blow away the fine layer of dust that was starting to settle on the thread to finally post a small video of some excerpts I put together during the holidays. Not really comprehensive of everything I chronicled (I've literally hours of recording, ranging from hundreds km of dull driving, to camera tests, to panorama pannings, to bloopers and countless tumblings...), just a bunch of fancy angles, but since it was a thing I hadn't done for ages and I wanted to try again, I went a bit "artistic".

Great read Cmdr; many thanks for sharing this with the community. Now, get yourself appointed as the official scribe of an exped 'cos your prose is brilliant!

How is it possible that I still have no rep to give you - gah! Terrific video. o7

Made some headlines. :D

I still want to thank anyone who had the patience of going through all my long-winded ramblings and the countless typos and funny errors left around, I didn't expect that a "simple" straight-line traveling through a mostly random-generated scenery could end up to be such a good gaming experience.

Now I'm left wondering if I could/should make a blooper reel out of the several clips of "The Tumbling Initiative" staying true to its name [noob]...

Erm... duuuh! Sure you should! Also, fun fact - I've stumbled upon CMDR Aken 2 years back when starting with Alpha Orbital when he was of great help gathering various stats needed for the ship comparison tools.

Anywho - back on topic! I loved the story and encourage the rest of you to contact me if you want to publish your own adventures as well. I'm sure Elite is full of them, which is the main reason the community is so friendly and supportive.

Fly safe o7

Hey Skip ... you interested in adding old stories to your site? I guess I could convert these for you if you think they're worthy.

How did you convert Aken's forum posts ... is there a particular format you cut and pasted it into?

Well it's the fact he wrote it as a RP story/cmdr log that caught my attention. I really liked that - it's not just random notes about stuff he found. And no... there's no specific template or format. I just copied the text and edited some tiny parts to be more consistent with the "this is a log from a commander with space dementia on crackers" theme.

Send me a PM or contact me via email if you want to talk about AO posts so we don't go too much into OT here.

Good job, that was a nice read the way you laid it out like that!
