X55 Rhino Button Layout with Reference Card

I am using Aussies button layout and profile. It is working good but I want to modify a couple of things? I was afraid I would mess up what I already have working so what are the steps to modify an existing profile without breaking it? I ask because I load a profile in Saitek and a profile in ED. Do I simply go into option on the ED side and find the command and assign there?

Thanks in advance!

Hey mate, I would go into the profile folders and do a copy and paste into the same folder for each of the profile files. Rename the copy to whatever you want and use that to modify till you have it the way you want it.

Should be no limit to the number of profiles (or copies) you can store in the folders. Just rename so you don't loose track of which is which :)

If you happen to mess something up on the one you are playing with, then you will always have the copy to fall back on or re-download off course.

P.S. - I will have an update version to post once the 1.2 update goes live. Some new buttons were added and some rearrangement was needed to squeeze them all in.

That sounds great. One thing I was wanting to do is assign a button to 75% power. I tried it and it simply turned the power and made the slider useless. Not sure what I did wrong. I was wanting to use that to automate the hyper drive autopilot on approach.

I'll see if I can include a 75% thrust option in my next update (somewhere lol). Good idea actually, since that is probably the most commonly used one. Perhaps a 0% could be handy too, but anyways sounds like you might have overridden one of the existing keys. When you set a key in ED, it will advise you with a small popup at the bottom of the screen if you are overriding the key. Problem is you need to be looking for it as it only stays for a few moments.

If you mapped it in Saitek via a key, then maybe have a look at the key timings. Also test out the key in the test profile option to see if the key is registering. If it is not then try applying the profile in Saitek again and save again, and retest.

Important to have -100 also. If you do smuggling, to get into stations undetected. You boost into station at very high speed, and quick reverse inside station, so you don't crash into the wall.

OoooO! Will have to try that!

Currently, I have changed to the full range thrusters on the throttle so going full reverse is easier than using the toggle switch. It does take a lot to get used to though, and I am still learning. I wont get to play for another 2 weeks due to RL getting in the way of things, but hope to try it out soon.

Did you end up having any success on your end with the slider you were trying to configure?

Thank you for this thread. My X55 arrives tomorrow, and I have been excited/overwhelmed with the configuration. I cannot wait to try these setups out!

I have some progress here, but it look like sbk is an on off switch, if it was what you where thinking about? I will let this switch be the one that make the thrusters go backward when switch forward. So I can have full forward thruster all the way on the thrusters, or vice versa if switch is turned off.

About the automatic loop, I will try it out. I did the mouse tweak, and will put the thrusters there. I will do full mode set up. Mode 1 for landing, mode 2 for battle, mode 3 haven't decided yet. But it look like I'm do a lot of work to thinking out the configurations, so I have not yet even played the game. Heard you actually could set it like when you switch to etch mode 1, landing wheel comes out automatic.

It would be nice if automatic landing request could be done in same way. Just turn to mode 1, and this two request is done automatic when turned to mode 1.

---------------------

  • Use Mode 1 or 3 as a landing mode if you want to use something like Landing Gear as a toggle. Mode 2 isn't a good choice as you can enter this mode from either 1 or 3 and can get the landing gear un-synced very quickly. For example here, rename Mode 1 to Landing
  • Click in the cell under the fallback drop down list (which is under the Mode Name) and create an Advanced Command. In each section you should have:
    • Press: Landing Gear & whatever other commands you want on/off upon entering the mode
    • Repeat: have this clear
    • Release: Landing Gear & anything else that needs turning off/on up exiting mode
  • It's important to have Landing gear in both the press and release sections.
  • We also suggest not to split up the up and press parts of the individual key here as having a key pressed down continually can cause possible memory issues.
  • Set Mode 3 to Combat,
    • Press: - you'll want to toggle your hardpoints set up a sensible default power distribution.
    • Repeat: Keep this clear
    • Release: Toggle your hardpoints
  • For mode 2, use this to assign typical engine/hardpoint commands you want to use out of combat or landing
    • Press: Assign the engine/hardpoint/radar etc commands.
    • Repeat: Keep this clear
    • Release: If you want anything turned off that isn't controlled by Mode 1/3 then put them here. Otherwise this can be clear since entering Mode 1/3 will typically override the engine settings.
So entering Landing Mode (Mode 1) will drop the Landing Gear, exiting the Mode will retract the gear. If at any point the Mode is un-synced just press the landing key on your keyboard.
Entering Combat Mode (Mode 3) deploys hardpoints and sets power for combat. Leaving the mode retracts the hardpoints.

AUSSIE... Do you have plans to release an update to your x55 profile? It rocks! Seems after the latest update it messed it up a little. My hard points keep popping up mainly when I use the command to bring up the left panel. Flight assist keeps toggling too...

Yeah buddy really want to get an update sorted. Just difficult timing atm as I have family visiting, renovations and stuff. Damn these RL things getting in the way of my gaming LOL.

Hopefully over this weekend :)

Hey folks,

I created a template for the X-55 which has the default Windows button numbers.
Sorry if it's already been done, but I couldn't find anything like it.

Edit: Unfortunately, I can't post a hyperlink and I'm getting this message:
"Sorry, due to extensive link spamming from new user accounts, the usage of hyperlinks within posts and topics are not allowed for your user group."
Any workaround?

Cheers and happy flights,
Miks

hi Miks,
Yeah, the simplest workaround for this is simply leave the http the ":", the "//" and the www off the start of the link so a link to google would simply be google.co.uk or google.com
that way they don't get seen as hyperlinks.

Thanks for the tip, StarFighter!

Thanks for sharing. This will be very useful.

Not a problem. I also have an X-52 pro but for that stick, Frontier did an excellent job in the game's Control Settings where they added actual icons for each button instead of "button 1", "button 2", "button 3", etc. like they did for the X-55, which is a pain to figure out.

So, enjoy guys. :)

i would like to share my actual X55-Mapping

There are some safety changes to the OP´s layout. I would never place Silent Running beside heavily used controls. One accidental hit and you have no shields.
My throttle is -100 <-> +100. after some time of practice you hit the 0 pretty good and you save some time in combat when you have the need to reverse.

Maybe it gives some additional ideas.

I have made 2 hand rests now. One is about 13mm high, and tapers to nothing for the little finger. The other is about 25mm tall, and also tapers down at a greater angle for the pinky. I use the 25mm one, and my brother prefers the 13mm one on his X55. I've attached mine with some double-sided tape, and it's great.

I'll sort out some photos of them. If you've got some neoprene you could probably build up the layers gradually (superglue them together) to form a nice shape that's comfortable and allows you to reach the pinky buttons.

I may get rid of the raised edge around the little finger, just to increase mobility. But frankley I could print any design, and am happy to do (simple) requests.

Just to let you know I got these. There perfect. Mine is on Blu tac.
