Xbox One GPP to full game details - PLEASE READ

Zac doesn't mention Naval Ranks... he says minor faction ranks. I personally want to know that I can buy my Clipper and Courier back and not have to earn the rank again

He does say this:

"Everything else will be copied as it has been for previous GPP updates :-"

Naval ranks have always been copied over to the next build before with all previous GPP build updates, so I am not worried. Just an oversight that he didn't spell it out. I took the above sentence in BOLD to pretty much cover everything. Only assets that will not be maintained as usual are the Cart Data and First Discovery credit.

Pretty Awesome we keep our ships, can store the mining beast in the system it is most used and jump back into the Cobra (or maybe upgrade) to continue my exploration ahead of time!
Shot FD!!

Outstanding information! Thank you Zac and thanks to the entire Frontier Team for all of your hard work!! I have one small question about the upcoming full release - will we have to download the entire game again? If so, what is the approximate file size? I am (unfortunately) using a metered internet service and I need to schedule large downloads for certain times of the day.

Could be an expensive mistake. Lose a 22 million Clipper without a Baron rank and you might not be able to buy it back on insurance.

I do hope people have to buy these ships again...I would feel dirty flying a ship I didn't earn and I can't even imagine all the people who are at this moment traveling to pick them up again....SMH Wish there was a way to see people's navy rank in a scan if the ship is kept but lost if blown up...;)

Cmdr Methane, there would only be a mad dash of uninformed people trying to buy those ships because you can buy them without rank now in the PC/Mac game gallaxy if you know where to go to do it.

Seems like the uninformed would form a vast majority, because I have never heard of such a place, or discussion thereof. Jameson Memorial, while having all ships in stock at all times, requires the rank to purchase them.

I cant believe no one has asked if private groups will be turned on in the official launch!.

To the people saying you have to have rank to get Navy or Imperial ships, why not consider this to be FD way of thanking us, for playing and testing out their awesome game.
But who knows what lies beyond next week, will be very interesting booting up on the 6th.

Thanks for keeping ships, but we do need confirmation on buying a locked ship and if we can use it after 6th!

Maybe the they'll put a wheel clamp on till you rank up!! Stays in your garage just cant use it!

I have a couple of questions:

- Will there be an Xbox Client update as part of this or is this only server side changes?

- Do Xbox pilots get to keep their commander name even if it's the same as a PC commander name? If so, how will you be reporting on news items, CG rankings, or other information regarding Commanders from now on?

Don't smugglers and bounty hunter NPC's use the same ships without rank?

Has anyone pointed out it might not be the best idea to have servers down on release day? Would it not be wiser to that overnight or on the 5th if it can only happen at specific times of the day.

Wow guys, keeping the ships, ranks and modules is the best news I've read all week. Thank you! It would be a chore to hunt down every single module again. It's perfect that we can continue the game unaffected. Awesome!

This is indeed good news. So, this morning I ran around the galaxy to the three starports that I had my ships in storage, and sold everything. Now I have a fully outfitted Asp, ready to go exploring. Plus I've 22M Crs in the bank. I sold off the modules before selling each ship, but I didn't take the time to figure the monetary difference in doing so. I'll just trust that I saved a few Crs that way.

I can finally get on with my business of plotting a few sight seeing trips. Sol is first, then who knows where?

I wasn't looking forward to that either. I already did the treasure hunts for the parts I needed, and I am glad that I will not have to go through that. Or worry about finding any errors with my cash totals and having to submit a ticket over it. :)

I'm also very pleased that we STAY where we are now in the Galaxy. I'm a long way from the entry point where new players start, and I would prefer not to have to make that very long trip back out to where I work now.

As for those worrying/complaining about rank required ships... Pretty sure that if you don't have the rank to fly a ship you have now, that ship will likely just refuse to load for you. Hopefully they pop up a message box informing you that you need to be at Imperial / Federal rank "whatever" to use it. Since they copied all these over in previous GPP builds, unless they are changing the way they do this, you will have all your ships parked where you left them, but access to those specific ones will be restricted.

Hitting those ranks isn't that hard to do, so why doesn't everyone worried about that simply rank up between now and the 6th?

Definitely a client/game update. The console needs to have the final version installed on the console as well as the changes to the servers. That is always the case with this game and a new build. You commander name on the XB1 version is your XBL Gametag, so yes, you will continue to use that, since unless they change the settings, the game automatically uses your XBL GT for your name.

I own the Clipped. Does this mean that if I don't sell it before full release then I'll lose it? I just need to know if I should sell it now or if I can afford to wait.

....unless the current xbox client build is the final release build and is already compatible with the current server galaxy. They seem very certain that Tuesday is the release date, so the new build must already be approved by Microsoft if they are pushing one out.

I would hazard that they have now implemented a process by which all changes are flagged as to whether they require a client or server update to other platforms, so they can manage the builds appropriately to minimize the number of console client pushes.
