Hi all
This is my first thread.
First things first: I wish to thank the developers, from the bottom of my heart, for their attention to astronomical detail. I really appreciate what you have done!
I'm an Oculus user and this "game" is probably the most immersive VR experience I've had so far. I'm also an amateur astronomer, and being able to fly up "close" to a neutron star has been on my bucket list for many years.
Also getting to old for fighting, I love the way the ED Universe works and that you can choose to be exactly what you like, while still having to face the consequences of your choices. That makes this sandbox very "close to reel life", in combination with the politics, background stories, laws, culture, etc. I started out (a couple of weeks ago) by hauling passengers in a Dolphin and then switched to longer adventure trips because they paid better, and I was greedy to get my hands on a better ship. Ended up with a max'ed out ASPX, still having even more fancy toys on my wish list. The adventure trips triggered my hunger for exploration, and I decided to go on a long trip into nowhere, but got the space noia half way towards my goal, and had to go back to good old safe Sol. The soundscape in ED is as good as the visuals, and the soundtrack makes you feel that you're in a movie.
Yesterday I bought a small DBX and set it up getting a max jump range over 41ly. Then I set out towards NGC 7822. I will not spoil anything, but just say that anyone should make that trip at least once during their lifetime. It's so BEAUTIFUL!
The DBX is an excellent little explorer, and like the ASPX I love the cockpit view, which is perfect for VR. I'm still longing for the looks of a Mamba, but that will probably end up parked in a hangar somewhere, and only be used for the occasional Sunday strolling around. You do not need the fancy ships to have fun in ED.
The depth of ED is mindblowing. Once you start feeling slightly bored about something a new experience makes your jaw hit the floor. There are so many things I haven't tried yet...
Once again, thanks for an awesome job, and an awesome experience!
Stay safe out there
