You know you’ve lost your player base when.....

I do, but drastically less (I mean 95% less) than I did. I used to run Powerplay Reddits, help lead Powers, I worte Galnet Stories, bits of lore, helped run Reddits to get other people published on Galnet, worked for Sag Eye, made memes, try to provide quality feedback and be an all round good egg.

After the September patch (and this one) I can't even log in and what little enthusiasm dies inside once again as I watch a spinning ship.
Same here. I've gone from playing everyday to playing a total of 15 minutes in the last 2 months, and that was to check out the mission board and transfer some funds to my FC. FC's briefly brought me back but now.....not playing. No narrative? Dead galaxy.

I've been posting here for years and.....I wasn't always like this. I loved and still love the game. But I hate the way its potential has been neglected and there's only so many FDev empty promises, bug-creating patches, and abandoned gameplay features* I can put up with before I search for content and entertainment elsewhere.

*Codex says hi!

This is very sad to read, I can relate in a sense. The first musical discovery I made of my own was The Specials. I adored them. I was 11 years old in 1979 and they just lit me up. Their first album I played until the needle wore through the vinyl. Got all the singles, cut all the bits out of magazines and papers for my scrapbook. The second album came out, I liked it a lot, but it never matched up to the first one. The third album, I felt very let down by. Frankly, I didn't and don't like it. The yearning and loss I felt for the demise of that band crushed me.

I guess I'm just lucky when it come to Elite that my passions for it have not outflanked it's abilities, for me.

I still play that first album to this day.

Well if you are rocking up to a fast food place expecting a good breakfast then you really need to question your personal choices in life before you start loading up your semi-automatic to shoot crap out of the place.

Have you seen the state of the burgers though?

The problem is all personality has been slowly cut away- think back to when we had puzzles in game, UAs pointing to planets, the first hyperdiction.

All went nowhere. Whats the point to a giant galaxy if its stuffed full of identical cardboard cutouts?

Well I accept what you're saying though I believe it is down to perspective. Thing is, I've been playing this game for ages. I log in, I fly some ships, I don't really do mining, I don't do BGS actively, though of course anything I do I suppose I'm interfering with it, I don't Power Play, I barley pay any attention to the thousands of factions other than to see who is offering me the most lucrative contracts. I potter about in SRV's on planets. I may have a 'small world' view in this big universe game, but there is enough to keep me going, keep me occupied and entertained. Other than down time for patches and one prolonged incident once when I couldn't log on (a few days), I have had no issues with the game. Lucky me.

Yeah me too. I was left in a bit of a dead end for things to do with the current state of the sandbox, but even yesterday i found a new thing to try that im super excited about and have been having a blast testing it out.. happily it checks all the boxes (when i thought it was all over) and im itching to get in with a huge list of things to do. How i've adapted is to change the frame of comparison. Following along the marketing and white knight community just doesn't work.. there's an image that's put up that gets destroyed every time you log into the game and run into the issues every time. Just doesn't work. However, for me, looking at elite as a sibling of the other simulator games, truck simulator and farming simulator, works great, because when you only expect it to do that, elite shows up fine and even above average. So that's what i've been doing because it doesn't make sense to hate something and play it almost every other day. But yeah its rough when people propose elite is what is isn't.

Its unfortunate to have to but its probably possible to understand what's going on.. as you hint at, its only specific areas and more "end game" that the issues are numerous and visible. Frontier have probably done some level of consideration and are only shooting for keeping whole the content that a majority of players experience before they quit and move on. I think may even be a common thing to do for developers. So it makes sense but doesn't help the situation if you find yourself over the hill with the game and only have the end game things to do.

C'mon Brentford! ;)

I came back from a match once, Fulham had won (a rare day) and we plotted up in this pub. A bunch of Brentford fans came in and were clearly looking for a punch up, really aggressive. I asked one of them if they had lost and he told me they and won 4-0 (A rarer day), I was baffled by it.

Saying that, I ended up working with a bloke who was a Brentford fan, possibly the funniest man I have ever met. Had me laughing all day.

Us humans are an odd bunch. :D

I'd love to see Brentford in the Premier League (simply because they've never been there before), but Fulham wouldn't be a bad addition either.....better than Norwich for sure (sorry, Norwich fans).

If ED was a EPL team, it would be Everton. You know they should be doing better.

As soon as MSFS comes to the Xbox then I foresee a drastic decrease in my playing time in ED.
I'm gonna buy the Xbox Series X especially for MSFS.

Just as others though, if, and that's a big IF, there's something good coming to ED then I will definitely check that out though.
At the moment I'm still having fun in ED, purely due to the player event regarding the Dark Wheel, I hope this remains that way, it's definitely not due to FDevs effort in keeping ED interesting though.

There comes a point where for some where you play a game in spite of what obstacles the developers put in the way.

ED used to be my number one game but I play games to have fun, when the fun is gone then there are literally thousands of other games to choose from.
Am I gutted to what's happening to ED? Definitely, but I'm not just gonna sit there being gutted, my time's to valuable for that.

You old romantic, you

No need to give Mrs Maec the wrong idea about why they were going that way.... after all, you don't get extra "husband points" for proposing twice...!

On the other hand, could have just been avoiding certain districts, with particular coloured lights.

I'm speculating though, we would require input from the big chap himself @Bigmaec - anything to declare mate? ;)

Nothing romantic about it, we really like to drive to France to go camping, fantastic country for that.
But the traffic in Paris is the pure horror for a poor country boy like me.
Especially with a caravan, I get nightmares only thinking about driving to Paris with it

I was going to reference Yamiks doing top 5 / worst 5 videos as a sign that Elite is really going stale.

If the crazy latvian can't finding something to make fun of or rant about...we're really screwed.

You don't play Elite anymore?
