Your 2023 Game Watch List

I am curiose to see what kind of games you are looking forward to in 2023.

My most anticipated game in 2023 is from Owlcats: Warhammer 40k: Rogue Trader.

While i am really new to 40k Universe, i really enjoyed Owlcats Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteos game. This was the best RPG i played since Neverwinter Nights, many years ago. So i am looking forward to see on what kind of adventure Owlcat will take me in the 40k Universe.
Release date: December 7th 2023.

Among others are:
Starfield - Release date: September 6th 2023.

Warhammer 40k: Space Marines 2

Baldur's Gate 3
- Release date: August 3rd 2023

With emphasis on "watch" list, Starfield is #1 for me by a huge margin.

Second is update 6.0 for X4 Foundations and the accompanying DLC - Kingdom's End.

Third is the next big update for Space Engineers that introduces new AI blocks and survival & exploration content.

While two of those aren't technically new games, both updates promise to make them feel like new games.

I have mixed feelings about Homeworld 3. I was originally interested in it, but I was a bit underwhelmed by the trailer. I was hoping for a revolutionary leap in graphics and gameplay, but it kinda feels like Homeworld 2.5 to me.

This year my entertainment space was more collecting lego than video games. Had much fun buying up discontinued Star Wars sequel sets from aftermarket (they haven’t appreciated much if at all so it was reasonable). 2023 looks insanely good for lego, with a large lotr set, an Indiana Jones wave, and og Jurassic park wave as well. There’s also leaked there will be another adult space set, a large technic tractor for farming simulator brain, a sonic wave. And I’ve officially run out of space. Building the avatar wave I got for Christmas as well which isn’t as bad as it looks.

Games wise for 23 the only ones for me are d4 and star field. Though how I can take blizzard seriously after the sex scandals.. quite woeful.

Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom I might check out but given that my experience with Breath of the Wild was not that great I'll probably wait a while.

Starfield would interest me if I liked Bethesda games, unfortunately I don't.

Those are the two games I know of releasing next year.

Starfield is the one I am looking forward to.

I downloaded and installed Star Citizen last year, but my current laptop couldn't play it without significant frame-rate drop. Will be getting a new machine with an RTX 3080 Ti so will try SC again.

I'd really love an open-ended fantasy style game like LoTR or something similar, with base building etc. and a MASSIVE open world map, however I might need to keep that one as a dream. Or get out the old pen and paper RPGs I have!

Actually, im looking forward to this as well.

It might be a pretty game that isn't just a poorly disguised white feminism narrartive (horizon forbidden west. well either that or it was so badly done their real world messaging was the only thing that stands out).

Fingers crossed? Though avatar itself is so thick with its own political messaging...

And they probably won't deviate from ubisoft map mess..

Well i liked the trailer anyway.

Aww didn't knew this game even existed, but it's so cute that they made it look like bow and arrows can take down machineguns and choppers.
If i can ride thouse Mechas, i will definately pick it up, when ever it comes.

Love how they did the famous " coming out of the hangar scene " in the trailer.

Yeah.. i've been getting into the original avatar a bit inspired by the recent lego. The story is borderline dumb / spelt out for you, but its made up for it by everything being considered in some way. All the supporting lore makes sense. Its worth viewing the full extended edition, the connecting filler (ie the story) is in that, really feels better in full.

In horizon, arrows just beat machines because, but in avatar they try to explain why the forest people are op.

The stereotypes are so cringy though. If you want to get into the story, it helps to relate to both sides instead of just liking and hating who the movie tells you to. Because the lore is well done there are no holes there.

Havent seen the new one.. i did chase down spoilers, and its basically an anti whaling message.. which is great as i feel quite strongly about that, but i think i'll wait until the home release so skip the parts that aren't pleasant to watch.

Only one problem for myself: it's by Frontier and has a "Pre-order" section on the main site. I don't think I'll ever pre-order an FD game, let along KS one again.

However, thanks for bringing it to my attention as I'd not heard of it before (don't really delve much into games unless someone tells me about it, which is where I get most my information from).

It does look good - mentions Unreal Engine so I guess they are skipping the Cobra engine for this one. Can't imagine why. Will wait for the reviews before deciding but I am optimistically hopeful (ever the optimist...)

Frontier is the publisher not the developer.
I liked the first one (https://www.gog.com/en/game/deliver_us_the_moon) unfortunately the second one is not listed on GOG.
