Your favorite in game and sci-fi ship?

In-game I like the look of the Dropship, though I have never flown one. I also really like the looks of the Cobra, Python and DBS/DBE. Looks aside, I enjoy the FDL though don't like its "squashed Hauler" appearance.

Outside of the game I love the look of Slave 1 from Star Wars. I also quite like the look of the more asymmetrical ships from EVE.

From sci-fi (Assault Gunboat from the Star Wars TIE Fighter game):

In-game (and this is from looks alone - not so much useability in combat):

Although I do love the Clipper in game has to be...

From sci-fi honourable mentions to TIE interceptor, White Star and Slave1 but the top place goes to Jerkoff's rocket from Flesh Gordon for making me laugh every time!

I enjoy the FDS, Anaconda, Lakon Type 9, and Lakon Type 7 the most in the cosmetic sense, but as for functionality it's the Cobra all the way, best ship in Elite.

I hate all of the imperial Designs, both Saud Kruger and Gutamaya. It's way too flashy, I'd like to see more iron, gritty, industrial looks in this game, not flashy plastic.
Yes, but .. the Empire is all about style! :)
.
My fav in game: Cobra
in Si-Fi generally: the Liberator from Blakes 7. Nice ship; shame about the programme :D

From Elite - Cobra.
from sf - Invincible rocket from "Invincible" novel by Stanislaw Lem.
Elite: Asp mk II
Elite: Dangerous: Asp Explorer
Scifi: Lighthugger Nostalgia for Infinity from Alastair Reynolds' Revelation Space series (close call with Stanislaw Lem's Invincible)

Some great pics here, buuuuuuut.. some of you need to hand in your geek cards as some of the classics have been overlooked!

Anyhow, favorite in game ship has to be the Cobra, I grew up wanting one. Favorite Sci Fi ships though, well it's hard but this one is one:

And though it isn't technically a spaceship.. it's close enough! TronLegacy_LightJetBig_DanielSimon_001.jpg

Asp is my favourite ingame.
From non game favourites I have this one wasn't cited yet:

That's the starship from the Japanese Live Action 80es series San Ku Kai.

If we're having cartoons, how about album art - Clear Air Turbulence, for instance?

I've always loved that ship! Foss is awesome!

In-game, I'd have to say either the Python or the FDL, though I've yet to fly either of them.

As for general Sci-fi, there are a ton of great candidates, and people have already posted tons of badass-looking vessels already, most of which I've never even heard of. I generally prefer sleek and somewhat extravagant designs; utilitarian designs usually don't appeal to me that much. Aerodynamic designs in particular are nice, even if they're completely useless in space.

That being said, my favourite ship would have to be the Argus/Vardelex from the Owner series. Though there's no artwork (that I'm aware of), I know that the ship itself probably wouldn't look very good, given its spherical shape. However, any ship with Alan Saul and his army of robots (Spidgerguns *drool*) at the helm is a force to be reckoned with.

In game: Cobra, still, after all this time.
In sci-fi: while the Enterprise (Picard era) is pretty, Serenity is where I'd call home.
That said, I also love the idea of the Culture AI ships - especially now Elon Musk is borrowing them for the SpaceX launches. Trying to watch newscasters keep a straight face while talking about the droneship "Of Course I Still Love You" is good fun :)

In-game: Cobra

Sci-Fi: Battlestar Galactica from Blood & Chrome
All that armor and guns, guns, guns!!!

In Sci-Fi I very much like the concept of jump drives that cross great distances instantly (Battlestar Galactica, StarBlazers, Andromeda) and then fighting takes place in normal space.
