I have a big computer, it's in a black case, it's nice and fast and has a big screen. I like blue lights so it has a couple of them too, not too many though. I'll be playing E: D on it for sure, and I might make it even better for release too!

Lol its only because someone mentioned building and selling for elite (mrs is a partner in a small computer shop chain up here)

and I got to thinking...

No Bikky, sorry!!! I wasn't taking the mickey out of your ideas.

I was just describing my computer in a non-techy way for a laugh!

Mine has blue lights too, they're really nice aren't they. The case on mine is grey though, but the lights are blue. Actually it only has one blue light, but I might get another :D

Just rebuilt my water cooled rig with new bits...
i7-3770
32GB RAM
P87ZZ WS mobo
AMD 7970 (OcUK H20)
2x SSD (waste of money, no faster than a single SSD)
+ 4 port 1Gb NIC
Separate homemade AoE SAN(ish) setup for storage (and general NAS, networky services).

My machine is a bit old, but these are the specs:

Intel Core 2 Quad CPU 2.4 GHz
4 GB Memory
Windows 8 Pro 64 bit
NVidia GeForce 8800 GTS (512MB RAM)

Hopefully it can keep up, was high powered when I bought it and still gets 5.9 on the Windows Experience Index

Hah! I have a Dell Precision 360. Pentium 4 (single core) processor, 512MB RAM, a hard disc, a graphics card. Although oddly it has gigabit networking.

I may need to replace it towards the end of next year although I have just been given a Precision T3400 which is considerably more powerful and might be upgradeable enough.

Thanks for the advice, I'll not get another then; don't want my PC to blue up

I was going to upgrade my PC this month but when ED appeared I decided I might wait until late this year; not sure I can wait though as my reasons for upgrading in the first place are still valid.

Don't think I'll go for a water cooled system though. Last time I tried it took ages to waterproof the case and fill it, and I did my back in lifting the PC on to the desk; it's surprising how heavy 8 gallon of water is. And it blew the main fuse box when I plugged it in.

Current game system spec: Xbox 360.

I use MacBook for home media stuff. Accordingly, i will most likely use some sort of bootcamp solution initially and then switch to the Mac version of Elite.

In my case a perfect gaming system to play Elite: Dangerous would be some sort of next gen xbox console that runs PC games or other set-top box offering a gaming solution that does not require a degree in Astrophysics to set up, configure, maintain and upgrade. i.e. just switch on, pick up controller and play.

Mine even has a nice sliding-out cup holder !

I'm starting the saving now. And considering the building of a Mechwarrior style cockpit like this... :)

We have 14 months before the Game's release (not including alpha and Beta testing phases). Discussing specs now seems a little quick off the mark IMO.

Going to build a high (but not crazy) specced new gaming rig in time for the Beta, and hook it up to a decent sized HDTV that has a low latency. Never really been one for gaming on a PC monitor; started with my C64 and Atari VCS hooked up to the living room telly and never adapted to anything smaller really.

Erm Dual core desktop with a radeon something or another and 4 gb ram, I do know it runs Team Fortress 2 ,but got a year to get a new rig built and a good excuse as its been on hold for about 3 years due to building a new house extension,

Will wait to see what specs are required nearer the time before plunging some money at the machine
