Your Minor Faction's Description is not complete?

"More information about the faction and its aims is required. Look at existing player minor faction descriptions in game to see the desired format. "

Without trying to sound "new" where do I look at existing player minor faction descriptions in game? The system they reside does not have anything I can find, inara just has the public statement. What headline points need covering in the minor faction description? I appear to be missing them.... 😲

Any help is very much appreciated, so thank you advance.

System descriptions in the galaxy map.

Here is ours:
"The Imperial Privateers are a group that is actively engaged in the time honoured tradition of privateering. Representatives of this group should be treated with the respect that befits Natasha Lavigny, who is the younger cousin of the Emperor, and their patron. Natasha Lavigny may be young but is ear-marked for great things, so she has been appointed patron to keep the Privateers on task in the service of the Empire as she learns the tools and ways of statecraft."

If you look up the star system of Hruntia you will find it in the system descriptions in the galaxy map as Jmanis has said.

Thanks both, I'll have another look tomorrow.

Remember to be creative, as what you write will be in the game forever. Try to make it sound like history that fits into the Elite universe and avoid it sounding like a gamer-clan recruitment advert; there's already way too many of those that snuck through the process in its early days. Good luck :)

Yes - their advice to look at the existing ones might not necessarily be particularly helpful, given some of the quality there. You might need to look around a bit before you find a good one.

there are some fairly cringe-inducing PMF descriptions out there. from bad grammar to just plain goofy text.

some are so bad that i've actively worked against the PMF just based on their own descriptions.

petty, i know. but my commander is often self-righteously capricious.

Edit: The Imperial Privateers description is very good and a model for how other PMFs should write theirs.

good description of what they do and lore reasons why they do it.

Thank you so much for your kind words! As I started reading your post my low self esteem heart sunk, but then you said such nice things! Thank you!

Given that there are some PMFs that have been added to the game with no faction description whatsoever added to the galaxy map, I find this attitude perplexing. And if they're going to be pointing at pre-existing faction descriptions as a guide for new faction-makers to follow, they really should be tidying up or deleting some of the sloppy ones that don't obey the current rules.

Faction descriptions are only added to the galaxy map during client updates, whereas inserting new factions is a server-side thing and can be done at any time. They should catch up (briefly) when the Carrier update is released. That's not to say that some haven't accidentally missed out on getting their descriptions added in the past.

One faction in particular I'm thinking of is the Sons of Ragnarok, an Anarchist group based out of the Barillian system. I saw their name pop up in my travels and thought "bet they've got an interesting back-story". But the system description in-game for Barillian says nothing. I'm pretty sure the faction has been around for a year or more; long enough to have expanded into seven other star systems.

Now, judging by their Inara entry, they're an Italian group, so perhaps their original system description was sent in Italian and was rejected for that reason. Or maybe they just like the anonymity that having no special system description provides. But shouldn't their entire application have been blocked if, like the OP, their faction description was deemed to be defective?

I've observed quite a few without in-game descriptions now.

There was a point in time where the backlog in the original ad-hoc application process was over a hundred faction applications. At that point FD just pushed them all into the game with very little if any review, then implemented an updated web-form based process. The result was a lot of strange names, dubious (or missing it seems) descriptions and new factions in systems they should never have been allowed in. Not the most smooth solution but it did draw a line under it and allow them to shift to a much better organised process. It now generally works very well and factions usually get processed in just a few days.

It also spannered a bunch of pf's because during the time from proposal to entry in the game, a condition disallowing the entry of the faction happened.

Our faction caused that directly at one point, so a system we controlled had a faction description put in, but the faction got rejected due to our presence
