Aww no, what happened to the cat?
Yes!!! Was hoping to see a new Post here and then it's one about such a cool Animal. Please continue posting about it. I wonder how tame he will get, considering how intelligent Monitor Lizards are and that you are raising it from such a young AgePicked up my baby pilbara rock monitor today
Ive been dreaming of keeping this species for years, and now its finally time!
And Raising him from such a young age (~2 months) will be especially fun, seeing him grow aswell as bonding with him, i just cant wait.
The third picture is what he will eventually look like.
Currently still thinking of a name. I thought of Waru which means fire in the aborininal language, but im open for Suggestions

ackies
Ackie just stands for ackie monitors or varanus acanthurus. A roughly bearded dragon sized species that is the most common pet monitor, probably also the best choice for most people.which Species does that Abbreviation stand for?
Also would love to See a Picture of the Terrarium![]()
Was also toying with the idea of getting a mini pond. What I also want to do once I can move and if I can get the Home I want, is to make a Mini Pond on the Balcony with Common Minnows![]()
Man i wish i had the space and time for parrotsView attachment 367164

Know his Channel. Didn't know though that he also did some Mini Ponds. Might take a Look later even though I already roughly know what I want it to look likeDo you know Serpa design on YouTube? He made some absolutely beautiful balcony ponds. Highly recommend him
Also need more Space finally, not only because I have way too little Space myself but also because the Cage is too small (even though they don't really seem to mind) and because I also want to give them more exciting Stuff outside the Cage.Man i wish i had the space and time for parrots![]()
Its doing fantastic, settling in quite nice and not shy at all.@Marvinb by the Way, how's it going with the Monitor Lizard?
I'd also like to keep a Reptile someday.
A Lizard would be cool but my absolute Dream Reptile that I really want to keep since a long Time already, would be a Fly River Turtle. But I guess you should have a own House first before getting one because the Tank needs to be so huge and it's probably barely possible to move a Tank of that Size to another Home.
Another Animal I would really love to have but which I would need to have a Garden for, would be Tasmanian Pademelons (weird Funfact about those: despite the Fact that some People keep those as Pets, there doesn't seems to be a single EAZA Zoo that keeps them)
Played with the Thought of getting something like a Green Anole as my first Reptile. But I would also absolutely love to get a Green Iguana but from what I've read, they don't really seem to be a good Starter Reptile. But not sure if i would recommend them as a starter reptile![]()
Honestly? Green iguanas arent good pet reptiles at allPlayed with the Thought of getting something like a Green Anole as my first Reptile. But I would also absolutely love to get a Green Iguana but from what I've read, they don't really seem to be a good Starter Reptile.
Didn't know you can keep those as PetsIf youre really into the big iguanas, definetly chose a rhinoceros iguana
Might be possible to keep them were I live because in Germany (at least the Part of it where I live) there don't seem to be that many Species you can't keep. Would need to look into that if I should decide that I want to keep this SpeciesIf youre fine with something smaller you might wanna take a look at fidji iguanas, although they are illegal to keep in a couple places, the Us for example
There are hundreds of reptile species that you can keep. There is more to tbe reptile hobby than bearded dragons and coDidn't know you can keep those as Pets
Are they more peaceful than the Green Iguana? Maybe even relatively suitable for a Beginner?
Have a lot of Time though to decide anyways because first I need to see how my financial Situation will develop.
Well depends. If you keep a gecko or smaller snake the running cost really arent to bad, a bit up front for the set up but after that is fineKeeping Reptiles isn't the cheapest Thing in the World after all.
Im also german and germany is usually pretty good when it comes to exotic pets. Would be surprised if your actually restricted in what you can keep where u areMight be possible to keep them were I live because in Germany (at least the Part of it where I live) there don't seem to be that many Species you can't keep. Thanks for the Informations. Probably extremely likely that my first Reptile will be some relatively small Lizard. I assume Species from Rainforests need less expensive Basking Lights than ones from Desserts and Savannas? There are hundreds of reptile species that you can keep. Might have to look a bit for the rarer stuff, but you can find most things with a little patience.
Yeah they are alot more chill for the most part.
Suitable for a beginner? Well depends, there isnt anything super difficult about them and from what ive seen they are pretty robust.
You just need alot of space and budget for them

It gets a little more pricy once you get to the stuff that needs a lot of heat and special lighting like bearded dragons, monitors and uromastyx for example.
Well and than you get to the really big stuff like giant Monitor and giant constrictors, like good luck buying a frozen piglet every couple weeks
