Your Pets

Thanks for the Informations. Probably extremely likely that my first Reptile will be some relatively small Lizard. I assume Species from Rainforests need less expensive Basking Lights than ones from Desserts and Savannas?
Not nessecarily, depends more on if they are active during the day or night.
Really hard to say generally, really depends on the individual species

Didn't really think about this yet🙃
Might even be that my first Terrarium Pet won't even be a Reptile because I've also played multiple Times with the Thought of getting a Short tailed Opossum, a Tiger Salamander or some Stick Bugs.
So many awesome Options to choose from 😊

I kept a mantis , those guys are also super fun.
And they only live for like a year, so no long term comittment to start of on

Also got into researching those once. You can even keep at least some Species of those outside of a Terrarium, directly on a Plant. Probably not the best Option though to do that with two Cockatiels 😆
They can sometimes create such strong Winds just by flying. It already happened a lot that some lighter Things went flying🙃

They are. My brother had a spiny orchid mantis. Lovely little guy. Unfortunately, he died one morning and we have no idea why. My brother had him for about 4 months, so he wasn't full grown yet

Yeah you can keep some just on a random house plant, which is pretty amazing. But idk how well that pairs with the birds :D

I had a giant chinese mantis, super impressive.
Oh thats sad. With those small insects its really hard to tell

😊 maybe it would be possible in a separate Room. Might probably even work with Stick Bugs because as far as I know they mostly eat Oak and Blackberry Leaves in Captivity.
Maybe the Birds would even try to eat them someday if they would be in the same Rooms because they also need Protein once per Week (only every second Week for ones over 10 Years old, which means I'll try to change how they get their Protein as soon as I can regularly buy something that I can handfeed them, because the male is 16 and the female is 3 Years old)

That sounds awesome. A Shame that it died that young

I don't think I know that Species. Need to look up what they look like

Just came back from a visit…and I will be taking this little Shiba-inu girl home next month. 🥹🥹 Hopefully my cat will be okay with it. 😅

Today i finished setting up the new home for my knobtail geckos Currant and Apricote, and introduced the new inhabitants.
I made nicely integrated little wet/nestboxes for them to hide and dig in, aswell as for the female to lay their eggs in. Really hoping they settle in nicely :)
Als their first clutch of eggs should hatch any day now

What exactly do you use to make the backgrounds? And how? I'd love to be able to do that...
