Your zoo visits

Today the new Rhino Pagoda in Berlin Zoo opened. A major step forwards in comparison to the crappy old house.
Really cool that it's possible to see the rhinos under water. I'm not sure if there are any other zoos with underwater viewings for rhinos.

Can't wait to see the new house myself.

Gotta say that the Valencia exhibit is too small in my taste, take that under account. I think covered aviaries work the best for fossas since you can add more climbing features.
Building covered habitats in the game is too finicky for me. If we had gridded mesh pieces then absolutely, but since the only way to do it is to mess with those prop fences (which have no proper roof pieces either) I find it impossible. I'm not the kind of builder who likes to spend hours on a single part of the zoo.

Visited Chester Zoo yesterday, it was a great and fun there. It has been changed a lot from my last visit to there lots of new stuffs in there. There's a new development at old Africa area (Where Zebra, Roan Antelope and African Wild Dog used to be), next to Black Rhinoceros habitat called "Heart of Africa," set to open in 2025. I took lots of pictures of animals on my camera, saw lots of adorable baby animals in there too as well!

Had a great time at the Fort Worth Zoo the other day! Except it easily got to 105 around noon but the morning was in the 80s so it was nice for a little bit! Here's some of the pics of the animals that ended up being some of my favorites of the visit!

Fort Worth Zoo is on my bucket list. When I was younger I used to just go through the websites of random zoos around the world looking for inspiration for my hand-drawn fictional zoo maps, and I stumbled upon Fort Worth. I've never really had a desire to visit Texas but I'll go for Fort Worth Zoo.

I love it, It's definitely in my top 5 zoos. It was voted best Zoo in the United States I believe in 2020 and also best Herpetarium in the States. It's also got one of the best zoo backstories personally speaking of course. It's basically been non stop construction and everything they've done is amazing. The new Predators of Asia and Africa is beyond incredible! But if you ever come to Texas I recommend checking out Houston as well. The South America's Pantanal and Galapagos Islands exhibits are some of the best the states has to offer!

I’ve been to some of the best and some of the worst zoos ever.

AMA 🤪
wow! I've actually only been to 2 zoos that aren't aza. Ever since I went to a roadside zoo when I was a kid, I just haven't been able to get myself to go to a non aza zoo. I believe you live somewhere on the east coast? Just basing on how many there are on the list lol. The east coast is kinda the last place I have to truly visit in the States. I've only been to a few zoos over there.

In mexico there are only two zoo from the AZA and both are too far where i live zoo if a want to go to the zoo i have to visit non AZA zoos xd
I'm sorry, I meant no disrespect. There are good zoos in NA outside the AZA, it's just most of them from what I've seen just seem to be animals behind bars and chain-link. I've heard Zoológico de Chapultepec is quite nice. Definitely one I'll travel to one day.

Gotta get you over here soon. Stop by, I’ll give you the grand tour!

I don’t necessarily go by AZA as gold standard personally since you have some that aren’t that are incredible (Ecotarium, Maine Wildlife Park) meanwhile Sea World and Capron Park Zoo are accredited. Comes down to what you see for yourself. However, AZA typically is great across the board as you can see from my rankings lol.

I’m just on the search to see as much as I can and I use my experiences to justify going to a place again vs. speaking lowly of it online for mom blogs and Facebook watchers to avoid. Animal Adventures, oof, scathing reviews from me lol

If you're ever in the Pacific Northwest, you should definitely visit the Woodland Park Zoo and Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium, both are great.

I went to Randers Regnskov in Denmark
today. It’s a mostly indoor zoo consisting of three domes representing Africa, Asia and South America.

I was looking forward to it but didn’t enjoy it that much. I am autistic and have difficulties with sensory overload which can include heat, noise and smells. It was just too hot, noisy and smelly for me and being tired as well I just wasn’t able to appreciate it and kind of rushed through.

Outside there are lynx, wolverine and hyena enclosures presented as a journey back in time to prehistoric Denmark which was an interesting concept but I was a bit burnt out by this point.

I wasn’t discouraged though and tomorrow I will go to my 130th zoo.
