I feel some disappointment with update 14

It was expected for the patch notes to keep new stuff related to story etc. a secret, so thats no big deal really.
However I still would have hoped to read about stellar lighting fixes and some AA improvements as these issues still limit the visual quality and atmosphere of the game massively.

LOL!, ITV just ran a program (Jungle thingy) that is almost based on what you can do with Humans and Cockroaches so thats that argument out of the water.

There's cockpit lighting fixes, as well as shadow fixes.
I bought Odyssey on Steam when 50% of the reviews were "negative" or "very negative". Trust me, I trust Fdev more than is sensible.
When U14 comes out we'll see each other again in this forum and we'll see if my "early disappointment" was justified or not.
Either U14's information hides too much, or it is simply not enough given the evidence.
I wasn't expecting new ships or weapons though. That's a big ask for what is mostly a narrative and bug fix update. Although we are getting a new Thargoid interceptor. Admittedly we won't likely be able to pilot it bit it's a lot of work to create a new asset like that.
Jupp, read about those. These fixes are much appreciated, yet every star-type (except for L class) still emits pure white light beyond 4ls of distance, essentially making every system uniform in lighting and also pretty sterile.

I am sincerely "surprised" (actually, human stupidity never ceases to amaze me) at the varied and witty responses that some have left in this post. Let's look at some facts:
-On Steam, EDO currently has "mostly negative" reviews (in red). If the brilliant minds that populate this underworld would bother to read the reviews, they would come up with great ideas to improve EDO and understand why players are so upset and angry.
-In Google, EDO has a 74% approval (that note in Google is equal to a disapproval). In the same direction, I invite you to read the good comments of the army of people who have voted EDO with 1 star.
-In this same forum (which I now consider a useless tool) there are a million ideas and requests to the FDev to improve the game. What do FDevs do? Give us a Thargoid narrative, because of course, that's precisely what everyone was desperately asking for, right?
Frankly, I understand now that writing in this forum is a useless task. Not only does Fdev not listen to complaints, but he is well "protected" by a legion of brainless white knights who also think they are very intelligent and very intellectual writing their stupid answers.

It looks like you missed that small unimportant part coming with Upd 14 which makes only one of game versions ready for further updates. Seems to me that this "small" thing may be quite important for ED future. Thargoids narrative very likely will have interesting stuff too, but personally I believe that decision make 3.8 as standalone legacy version is much more important. Btw, I also would like to see huge list of fixes/improvements to missions etc., but working this on old code and new code at once seems to me as not reasonable idea. Upd 14 may change this significantly.

An overall narrative is what the game has lacked severely since the days of Salome, and FD did great with Azimuth and Aftermath so far IMHO. Still, there are numerous technical issues, with antialiasing/shadow flickering being one of the nastiest for me. So, I'm quite content if the shadows are fixed and there's something developing story-wise. Though I don't expect new ships at this point, IIRC for instance, the T-10 was introduced a decent time after 2.4 and then simply unlocked. And just being glad the days of Horrible September seem to be gone by now, even if they introduced two new ships on that occasion. So better wait until the update drops and then complain later, as stupid or even not stupid people inevitably will do. YMMV.
