Or even just an explanation of the GUI and the new mechanics of thargoid war in last Thursday's stream..A way a lot of this disappointment could've been avoided would've been to do a deep dive preview of the thargoid war mechanic a few weeks before the patch to gather some feedback and answer questions/concerns instead of being so secretive about the feature and developing it in isolation like that.
It wouldn't have had to give away anything important - even the maelstroms, orthus (probably?) and station CZs could've been kept secret as an extra cool surprise until release.
no problem at all. I just wanted to let ya know. It wasn't announced except for a twitter post.My
Ahhh ok I assumed as he was still on the latest frameshift videos talking about Elite he was still a CM on the team .
This is fundamentally unrealistic. In a War (Just turn on Sky news for verification) the Line changes don't reset weekly, the progress in defence continues and stacks until one side or the other wins. Resetting the bar in this way is a really bad game mechanic and is going to drive players out of caring about this aspect. (Maybe that's your goal).Greetings Commanders,
We wanted to take this opportunity to clarify some details about system states within the Thargoid War:
- The UI provides time in weeks: this is how long the system will remain in a given state. If the state isn't pushed back it will progress (Alert to Invasion or Invasion to Controlled).
- If the progress bar is filled at the end of a week, the state will be pushed back and Thargoids will be defeated in that system. If not, the bar is reset for the next week. Players have as long as the time stated in the above to defeat the Thargoids.
With these points in mind, a number of systems are currently liable to remain under attack as progress resets with the weekly tick on Thursday. However there is still time to win them back!

Yes, it turned me, my squad, a lot of our allied PMF allys.wow what a waist of my time. i like the game to be differcult and dangerous, but i like challenges to be achievable.
i get limited time per week to play due to working etc, the time i have had in game has been spent supporting humanity in the war.
and for what, for it to be deleted.
i have no issue it being hard and taking several weeks to win a system, but we shouldnt have our progress deleted each week. it should continue onto the next.
if we dont complete by the end of the 6 or 7 week period, fine we lost.
this is crazy, who dreamt this stupid idea up
this will turn many players off assisting in the war
To be fair, it's not like the 24 hour news channels in FDev's home country have been filled with progress reports on a Small nation defending itself against an invasion by a huge superpower and holding their ground, even pushing back week after week.wow what a waist of my time. i like the game to be differcult and dangerous, but i like challenges to be achievable.

No it won't, if a Thargoid invades the Sol system and no-one's there to see it, did it make a flash? Those of us that are left will all have buggered off across the Galaxy oin our Fleet carriers by then.On the plus side, the last stand at Sol 3 will be epic![]()
I have a feeling they forgot to account for the fact they kicked all the Console CMDRs out with this update...Ending?

The last ED stream he appeared in was in June.My

Honestly, at this point it feels more like the community is desperately trying to keep fdev from burning down their own game...With the stats we put out on HIP 23716 and failed, I personally would Iike to watch the bubble burn and see how the dev goes from there, seems to be far more interesting and rewarding to see dev come up with something to prevent the game ending, lol.
Closing on my fourth decade of being a gamer and that is one of the worst game design I have ever saw. Not even joking.

The entire population of HIP 23716 was evacuated just by Inara CMDRs and still the bar didn't get past 50%Is the progress bar affected by the population of the system, a bit like influence? I.e. a system with a population of 2 billion will needs more effort to progress than a system with 100k pop.
See my earlier post in this thread on this. Spoiler: they're tracking pretty close so far...To be fair, it's not like the 24 hour news channels in FDev's home country have been filled with progress reports on a Small nation defending itself against an invasion by a huge superpower and holding their ground, even pushing back week after week.
Oh, Wait...
I fly better than he does...Why did I read that in a Latvian accent?
Tactics 2, anyone?Wars are not fun, and not suppose to be, for someone that follows World events as much as you do, you should know better.
I wrote RPG's. Elite has a horrid backstory, and a railroading Killer DM.Really, look up what an RPG is. Basebuilding and crafting have nothing to do with that.
Yeah, but still base building and crafting systems are not the fundamentals of a RPG. Which was my point. Just because the recent popular games that have RPG elements lean heavily on those systems doesn't mean RPG equals base building and crafting.I wrote RPG's.
