Where's the breadcrumb leading to Ankaa? I'm in Shangdi and can't find anything. What am I missing? Also I can't find anything at Ankaa. Update Ah, I didn't have Points of Interest turned on, just Signal Sources.

In Shangdi should be a
Curious Ship Debris where you can get another message with four system names, one of them is Ankaa.

Speaking of which, we all thought FD goofed when they did the salvation cut scene and saw Nemesis on the screens thinking it was a mistake. It seems it may not have been a mistake at all. In which case, FD, sorry about doubting you on that one.
Look, it would be one thing if was just things. I mean, I can tolerate things, but once they start doing stuff, too... that's where I draw the line, dammit!
I didn't think Frontier goofed. I guarantee they inspected every frame of that cutscene before setting it to autoplay on login for the playerbase. Frontier is notoriously tight-lipped about their game and if the cutscene didn't contain clues they would have only shown it once.
My first thought was they called the new thingy Nemesis based on everyone's reaction to the fleet carrier's name as a sort of reference to that whole deal. Kind of an easter egg in an ongoing story.
I've checked this out. I looked only at 0 population systems as that's what Ankaa had. There's 3: Skemta (41.3) with nothing: just two suns. ICZ JN-S b4-6 (41.05) and Core Sys Sector BQ-P a5-3 (41.55) both have some landable planets. I'm in ICZ JN-S b4-6 now, on AB 1 at a signal source with no name. It's a crashed DBX, trespass zone, with non-hostile skimmers.

I agree with all of this except #3. How were the Guardians xenophobic? They were attacked by the Thargoids and instead of immediately retaliating, they kept trying to communicate/negotiate with the Thargoids. Eventually they broke the language barrier and the Thargoids responded to their peace overtures the same way the aliens in Independence Day did (i.e. "Die.").
Now how xenophobic the AI constructs may be, especially after 2 million years of isolation, I can't speculate on. But nothing in the Guardian records supports the premise that they, themselves, were xenophobic. Quite the opposite in fact. I will admit that is peculiar, considering that the Guardians were predators/carnivores, but that is what the records state.
