Any reliable way to find Suit Schematics ?

Honestly cant be arsed to look through the thread to see if anyone has posted but currently the best way to get everything suit/weapon related is at Arai's Mine in the IAH BULU system.
Its a settlement on planet A5, you just need a Mav suit, no SRV needed just land near the CMD, cut your way in, clone a level 2 and turn off the alarm which is in the security office on the ground floor of the CMD.
Upstairs are 2 Level 3 folks, clone one and you have access to the whole settlement.
Its a goldmine, Smears, SDP, Manu instructions, guaranteed Suit/Weapon schematics in the upstairs and downstairs lockers of the Power Plant.
Added bonus - pull the power reg before leaving.
NO re-logging required just get back in the ship, shoot straight up and into SC, immediately stop and head back into the atmos to drop down onto the settlement again.

Im sure someone will have done a Vid somewhere but heres my loop of the place, oh and its an Anarchy settlement so no worries if you get trigger happy.

Thanks for the info, you don't know about an alternative site around Colonia by any chance ?

Standard Large Ext cleanup, this is a solid way to get lots of good stuff; I did basically this for a while in Alici, in an identical settlement. Although, repeatedly wiping it clean and removing the PR will pretty quickly send it into inactive. Although probably not for you if you're just doing it for a week or so :p

I stopped taking the PR for this reason. I even stopped killing unless absolutely necessary. And also do missions for the owning faction sometimes to help balance things out.

Just look for extraction settlements and keep looking until you find one that's this size. I don't know Colonia very well but I assume there must be at least one or two.

You can even manage OK in this type of settlement without it being anarchy, although that's more challenging.

Yep this wont last forever the place is crawling with FCs, on a plus side if anyone needs Smears there's a decent stock on the Starpiercer until someone cleans me out again 😜

Just too lucky.
I’m searching for Suit Schematics since months without results.

  • Tried to assault military/extraction settlements and I don’t remember how many times I’m died, get notorieties and moved on penitentiaries…
  • Tried by missions rewards and every time, if available, are kind of covert missions out of my skills (I’m not good to play stealthy in this game, it’s a nightmare every time). I’ve complete the stealthy assault just one time in months of attempts and no found any suit schematics in military base!
  • Tried a lot of power centers when possible, no suit schematics inside
  • tried some reactivation missions on civil war systems, no one suit schematics inside (if mission works, Frontier also have a known bug for these missions)
  • Tried a lot of POI, the same crash sites that factions ask to retrieve Suit Schematics for them. Nope again…SC are available only as mission objects

So, since Odyssey release I’ve collected just 10 suit schematics… the main material for any suit update… embarrassing

Ok, are you tell me there’s only one place in the entire Galaxy to retrive SS? Can I massacre people there with SRV in loop to get this material without get notoriety or bounties?

No other way to retrieve them without nightmare stealthy ways? By my skills I need more than 1 hour just to clean little settlements, if I’m lucky that nobody’s finds me 😅

Anyway Odyssey grind mechanisms are really embarrassing, no make sense IMO 😒

Nope there are 1000s of settlements, these are just 2 i use.

No SRV this is a foot job, just make sure the settlement is in Anarchy (if you are not good at stealth), scan the first npc after cutting into the command centre and disable the alarms.
If you want to go full Schwarzenegger, the whole place can be massacred in standard issue equipment, G3 stuff (off the shelf) makes it trivial if your careful.
Once you have done the loop pull the power reg and head back to the ship.
If you want to repeat just head into orbit, drop back in (no relogging needed) and start again.

NB: you will die if you dont switch off the alarm unless your rambo

According to my system map Trau Extraction base is currently in Anarchy, im a long way from the Bubble or i would check for you.

So no chances for me anyway. My problem it’s trying to disable alarms before they find me 😂😂 I’m good in stealth only on Far Cry 😭

Oh, a necro...

Well, these restore power missions in post-thargoid recovery systems quite frequently have 3-4 suit schematics as payment (and yeah, remember to always check if the mission target is valid, i.e. an abandoned settlement)

Not saying its easy to start with but like anything once you have done it a few times it becomes second nature.
The trick is to always find where the alarm is first before you do anything sneaky, you can use an outside console to find it (unless locked behind L3 access) or just scout around.
Most of the time its in the security office which again most of the time is in the Command Centre.
With this one just cut the lock to the CMD building entrance, walk in and dodge the first guy (or kill him/her) then up the stairs.
There's two npcs here that roam around both L3, kill/scan and leg it back downstairs, running into the security room ignoring everyone and swtich off the alarm.

Yes i make it sound easy but ive done a LOT of ground missions, its about getting experience, i died a few times at the start and spent my fair share of time doing porridge.

The main thing is its an absolute blast!

As of last night, the faction that controls that settlement is Bust. That makes it much harder to farm because the settlement is powered down.

I developed a rather fast farming route at Nkoana Industries on A 7 in that system. Upon landing, I'd grab level 3 clearance through the upper window of the power plant (side closest to landing pad). I then take the rooftops to the command building's back entrance. Once inside, go up the stairs, turn around, and enter the command center. Kill the only NPC there with a noise-suppressed weapon, loot the 3 lockers, then leave the settlement. All guards bypassed, no bounties, no alerts.

This settlement is owned by the same faction that owns Arai's Mine, so it was shut down as of last night. I suggest OP checks it out, just to see the layout. This should work on any anarchy faction's settlement with that layout.

Good call, this is why its good to have back ups, i got lucky with the one in ORRERE as its exactly the same layout (give or take a few data points) so i didn't have to learn a new route.
Plus i spent all my time in that system during Oddy early access so i pretty much knew all the installations before launch.

They come easily from Restore missions in settlements that have the type of CMD/PWR buildings that offer them more often

1) Learn how to find systems that offer restore missions using Inara by searching for factions that are in the required states and own lots of settlements

Even better, do restore missions in Systems that just got into the Post-Thargoid Recovery states - a system that last week was in invasion state and repelled the invasion, that system will be in PTR state in the following week. Dont bother with systems that are in PTR for more than one week since most of their settlements will already be powered on after the first week and the game will still offer missions to the already powered on settlements (you do need to check the sysmap or the navpanel and make sure the settlement is listed and marked as abandoned)
I prefer to prioritize EXT, IND and Military settlements, but Agri and High Tech are not that bad either.
Some more arguments for doing restore missions in abandoned settlements in PTR systems: they do offer usually better rewards, including missions offering 4 Power Regulators as rewards, plus most of the lockers are closed and full of goodies (as opposed to doing missions in settlements that have fires and bodies)

2) Suit Schematics are to be found in locked lockers in:
  • PWR buildings. The standard Big PWR will have a such small locker in the reactor room and another small locker on the floor just above the reactor room). The Small PWR will usually have one small locker with the exception of certain military settlements that will have an additional large locked locker offering extra chances to get schematics
  • CMD buildings. Dont bother with the smaller ones that have a single floor - they usually dont have schematics. However, the big 2-floor CMD building with separated sides for SEC and CMD areas will have a large locked locker in the CMD area that will usually have between 2 and 11 schematics (not all of them suit schematics, but still)

However, dont think you will swim in Suit Schematics after 2-3 missions.
Nope.
I usually do sessions of about 2h - doing about 10 restore missions per session (no faffing around watching the scenery). Sometimes more than one session per day.
After 1 week i may have between 40 and 60 suit schematics (no picking and no relogging in the same settlement)
