Sorely disappointed

After all this time after release of Odyssey and no improvements to VR, that almost kills it for me too. DOOM!

Well, almost doom. I'm playing it, with VR issues and bugs in missions, etc. Because, well hell, I love playing it, warts and all. I can't get this experience anywhere else, even though I play many other games. I'm not going to get perfection, but what ED has to offer, I'm happy.

My only concern is Frontier middle management (business and accounting degrees) that have no clue to what ED is about turning off the ED servers one day because quarterly stock reports is all they look at. I actually feel sorry for FDev, who are probably under budgeted and under pressure.

But as long as it lasts, ED is the GAME I'll play as long as I can. A screwed up mission or two ain't going to ruin it for me. o7

Frontier haven't said they are definitely not going to add ship interiors to Elite Dangerous. Don't conflate what a community manager said in response to lots of calls in the chat of a livestream asking for ship interiors for Odyssey with the overall development arc of the game. Ship interiors of the sort that people (including me) want were never coming to Odyssey - it was no shock to me that they weren't in the expansion. But Odyssey is the current expansion for Elite and future expansions are still to come, of which ship interiors may be a part of, depending on resources/time/development priorities.
Yep, I'll look into the next update, thanks for the heads up ^^

they arent gona add ship interiors . they sayd it themselfs. with that information jnow can i have your things since you dont need to join again?
Stop trying to mooch, work for your own money and buy your own things. I worked hard for my money and used it to buy this game, which I used to enjoy and might still in the future. I'm just burned out on the existing content and not into bugs in my way.

Sadly I have to agree with the original poster.

I really love ED, and sometimes Odyssey is great. But, well, sometimes it is hard to love this extension...

Since last week I am playing again ED. My current goal is to have the extra backpack capacity for my maverick suit. So I am doing Massacre missions (for materials)... I am doing one mission per day, as it is a long task (at least for me) and it takes time to go back from jail (or whatever else I pop after my last failed mission), repair everything, disembark, choose a mission, embark, fly to the planet, land, and disembark with the SRV.

So each time I fail a mission it is something like one or two hours for nothing...

  • First time, I took the massacre mission, come close to the basement with my tanky Scorpion SRV ... got shot in 30 seconds by 2 or 3 guys. Ok... understood.. looks like the Scorpion is not as tanky as it looks.
  • Second time, I took the mission, shot carefully some guys with the Scorpion, disembark then got shot by two commandos.
  • Third time, I took a scavenger mission, kill carefully almost everybody ...all the lockers were empty (I don't know if it is a bug or if it is as it should) one scavenger was missing... never found it. after 30 minutes I logged out/logged in... and when I was back all scavengers were back again all around me... shot in 10 seconds.
  • And today... took a massacre mission (as the scavengers do not give any loots) fly to the basement, kill 18/20 people, start to loot from lockers... then... disconnected. I logged back on the middle of the basement, no SRV, with my small Maverick suit, all over me commandos have repop... well you know the end of the story.. got shot.
I am a very calm person... but with Odyssey I had rage quit several times.

I know, sometimes it is my fault, I did mistakes... I should be more precise with my FPS skills, wait to pull every commandos... check carefully the shield of my SRS...yadi... yada... But with missions that takes a lot of times, when you get killed because of a network lag or any other bug it is very difficult to keep calm and not feel disappointed.

When I play ED on my space ship (non Odyssey content) after an evening of play, I am always happy because I have finished several missions, maybe I had earn a lot of credits, or maybe I discovered a new planet.... But all these evening playing Odyssey... it was for nothing... only frustration.

I even created my profile on this forum, just because I had to talk to somebody after my last failed mission! :) (and my wife won't understand)

For sure there is a learning curve. I haven't even done some missions as I know they're above my onfoot ability at the moment. My son has experienced similar frustration as you tbh, but he also is a bit yolo when it comes to these sorts of things and that gets punished pretty quickly in Elite, especially if the mission requires some stealth. Best advice I can give if you don't mind me saying, is to find some G2/3 gear and do some CZs. Obviously not great for loot, but there are other missions to take to get some of that or just finding some powered down settlements can yield some good stuff.

The exact same reason I made an account, except I have no wife.

I dunno, I find most missions quick. Maybe because I'm not doing all the illegal things? I think I have done maybe 3 massacres. 🤷‍♂️

They are but I prefer to play lawful. Even the massacres of "pirate held" settlements are considered murder.
What's even more annoying is the "everwatchfull eye". if I kill someone, and no one is there to see it, why do I get a bounty? Who is reporting me? I'm talking one shot-dead kills.
I understand the bounty if it is being witnessed. But completely silent, no witnesses should be a No Bounty kill.

I don't mind it, but they should lean into it. Make it lore. We already live in a surveillance culture so it's not a stretch to believe every settlement has cameras, every suit has body cams and skimmers recording everything. Even ships are narking on you. Maybe I can disable that stuff on ships and armor but it's illegal if caught, maybe the only "clean" kill is a 200m sniper shot. 🤷‍♂️ Just blowing smoke.
