Summer DLC Speculation 2023

Going further with this Pack there is still Not a big mixture of only high demanded animals which again raises my hopes for further content. The best Thing for longer Support is mixture of Higher and medium demanded animals (plus the Most of the time common lower voted surprise animal). I am still pretty sure a Baboon will make it to the game. There are still a lot of pack possibilities for them and it is really a potential headlining animal in my opinion. Bird-wise there is still the possibility of a bird centered Pack (I clearly mean habitat birds, I am sure flying birds will come to WTE if they should ever come) which perhaps would be the most work extensive pack.

I’d like them to announce these playgrounds on one of the days leading up to release date
I remember our first WE and frontier barely talked about it until release which annoyed me as I was so anxious to see how they function.

Can't be too mad, because whenever Frontier are stalling animals like they clearly are in this pack, it means more future DLCs. I predict support will continue until Q2 2025, so EIGHT more DLCs is what we can still expect.
At the Moment I would not Look into 2025 but next Winter would be the 5th anniversary. Half a decade for a Game would be Something Like a Milestone which I Hope Frontier also want to celebrate with us.

5th anniversary would be November 2024, that will be the last anniversary with support imo. Q2 2025 will be final DLC and patch as Frontier tends to cut off support around the half year mark to prepare for their November/end of year release of new games.

2 more 2023 DLCs, four 2024 DLCs, and two 2025 DLCs is what we should expect.

The grand total of animal species will be 220+ if my calculations are correct. Thus, Frontier can market PZ as having 200+ species to new players.

That's highly optimistic but I'd love for it to be the case.

They already confirmed that its build from existing pieces. So no new feature unfortunately

While I'm still disappointed by the fact that the baboon is still not going to be added, I don't want to loose hope yet that we will see some more primates including a baboon.
Maybe after a carnivore heavy pack (twilight) and a ungulate heavy pack (arid animal pack) we will see a pack with more than one primate species at some point. Who knows? I could imagine an Arboreal Animal Pack with three or four primate species, tree kangaroo, tamandua, yellow-throated marten or maybe a squirrell or ocelot.

I think frontier might save the Baboon for Highlands Pack or Mountain Pack,I got my fav animal in the world in the game which it's already my fav animal in the game, obvious. I know there could be a bit better options like African Spurred Tortoise or Secretary Bird but I think it's really good roster. and I still can't believe we gonna have porcupine in the game, It is feeling insane to me. and just because it include this animal it's make this pack being my fav. so I'm the Happiest person in the PLANET

and thanks for everyone who is happy for me, you are the best

I'm slightly disappointed, I was expecting at least one new world animal, and was too ungulate heavy. I am happy that we're finally getting a new snake, Dromedary Camel, ACP, and Sand Cat to me were no brainers, Dama Gazelle is unnecessary, I am happy that we're finally getting a spiral-horned antelope and a wild donkey, ambivalent about the Black Rhino. As of right now aside from SEA, this is my least favorite animal pack.
How can you say they are unnecessary? It’s gonna be our first gazelle from the beginning of the game, distinct looks with their elegant long necks, plus Critically Endangered and very important for conservation projects - I am so glad we are getting those.

There are some pack for everyone - Twilight was not my favorite but I’ve loved the scenery and the fact that it made so many people happy with the racoon addition.

So now only Père David’s deer and I am done 🤩😋

I've never actually seen what they look like. That's so pretty, way different than the ones we currently have

This was essentially the WORST africa pack.

Metawishlist had a template to follow. Just follow it.

Stop with the sand cat and dama gazelle. This is anothet twilight pack....I still haven't bought the twilight pack.

Birds. Aquariums.

Oceania is still massively underrepresented. (Echidna, tasmanian devil, tree kangaroo, bandicoot, numbat, possum, quoll, kiwi, tuatara, inland taipan, kookaburra, cockatoo, perentie, crowned pigeon, black swan, weta).
Give me five or eight Oceanian species ANY DAY.

Central America and South America are still widely underrepresented. (Spectacled Bear, Alpaca, Giant Armadillo, Peccary, Howler Monkey, Tamarin Monkeys, Macaw, Toucan, Ocelot, Tamandua, Green Anaconda, Emerald Tree Boa). Give me five or eight neotropical species ANY DAY.

And if you look at the metawishlist you will see the African Animals that were ACTUALLY popular. Popular African species that were ignored were secretary birds, shoebill, guineafowl, marabou stork, grey crowned crane, and pelicans....African Leopard, Aardwolf, Greater Kudu, Hamadryas Baboon, mantled guereza, Gelada, Nile Crocodile, Black Mamba, any species of cobra, Aye Aye, Sifaka, Honey Badger, Serval (all higher rankings than Somali wild donkey, sand cat, and dama gazelle).

It was almost like someone at Frontier took offense and said "how dare you request anything" I will give you a second Africa pack consisting of 8 animals (4 of which are on nobody's wishlist, do not complain)"

The meta wish list is not necessarily representative of what the player base wants. Looking at it, the most requested animal, the Tasmanian Devil, has 289 votes. According to Steam charts, Planet Zoo had 5,128 unique players last week. Assuming that all 289 devil voters played the game last week and are counted in the 5128, that means about 5.6 percent of the player base has indicated that they want a devil. The aviary Wishlist has had 67 people vote on it, so 1.3 percent of the playerbase here has indicated a preference for birds.

Frontier has a lot more factors than just one forums wishlist when they decide on their animals. The addax and dama gazelle are both huge success stories for conservation and are important for zoos. Small cats are always going to be popular because they're cute, anecdotally the one at my nearby zoo always has a decent sized crowd around it.

Just to clarify OF COURSE "The meta wish list IS representative of what the player base wants."

Surely you understand this forum is ONLY planet zoo player base? So clearly, 5,000 people do not care enough to vote for imaginary animals.

Sounds right.

Only 500 people or 1% actually care enough to vote. Yup. The other 5,000 don't care what animals are added and if they do they stay silent.

If they want an opinion they can add a vote. Otherwise the data shows what is and is not popular.

Your point is 5000 planet zoo "fans" play yet never voted. Sure, same argument. I'd argue if you polled 8 billion people on earth the metawishlist would look different...8 billion people only 500 of them care enough to make an account find the metalist and have an opinion.

I'm sure the vast majority of players don't know the forum exists. I played the game regularly for a year before I knew it existed. Not sure why we're assuming the only reason to not vote on an unofficial wish list is apathy and implying that they aren't real fans.

But Frontier is a business and their goal is to sell as many packs as possible, so they cannot cater all of their decisions to a very small, very loud majority of the player base that's active here.
