Does Africa Need Any More Mammals?

There’s still plenty I’m actively hoping for:
  • Hamadryas baboon
  • a colobus species
  • a guenon (or guenons, even)
  • Serval
  • Rock hyrax
  • Greater kudu
  • Common genet
  • Naked mole rat (they’d need a new type of exhibit but whatever, make it happen)
  • Nigerian dwarf goat (if you want to count them)
And just as many that I’m not opposed to even if I’m not actively clamoring for them:
  • basically any other monkey
  • Aoudad
  • Black-backed jackal
  • Bat-eared fox
  • Black-footed cat
  • any number of additional lemurs
  • African civet
  • a duiker species
  • Common eland
  • Klipspringer
  • Bontebok
  • Sitatunga
  • Banded or dwarf mongoose
I’m more than fine with Africa being disproportionately represented. That’s generally how it goes in most zoos.

Need is a strong word. Whatever African Animals currently are in the top like 10 or 20 then I'd say yea maybe we need those. But as of right now we just need to focus on other continents outside of Asia and Africa. I've heard a rumor that North America, South America, Australia and Europe have animals too.

Honestly there's only 4 African animals left that are really poular and needed:

Secretary bird
Honey badger
Mantled guereza
Baboon species

Yes... putting limits on anything is dumb to begin with, but the bulk of the African mammals we've been getting are clones... not the many highly unique options that Frontier seems to be avoiding.

I’m personally done with herbivores of africa at this point especially considering that’s the majority of the new dlc
I will welcome
Monkeys
honey badger
Small cats
Bat eared fox

One true baboon, one tropical monkey, and maybe one more lemur. Otherwise everything I could want out of Africa is just birds and reptiles.

There are a couple interesting carnivores--ratel, serval, bat-eared fox, banded mongoose--but at this point I don't feel like they're priorities at all.

I'd do the same except I don't want a lemur nor reptiles. I'll just take my birds and monkeys please. I mean I love reptiles but I mainly just need one's from Oceania and south america.

I would welcome more African animals if they add something we don’t already have in terms of niche… hyrax, monkeys,… plenty more but all of them are lower priority than new species from other continents, most especially South America and (to a slightly lesser extent) Oceania.

I definitely think there is much to explore when it comes to African mammals. Most notably, I'd say we need:
  • Hamadryas Baboon (or another baboon species)
  • Mantled Guereza
  • Rock Hyrax
  • Honey Badger
  • Serval
I also think we can still have more African ungulates, but I would prefer some of the more unique looking antelopes such as the greater kudu, waterbuck, gerenuk or Kirk's dik-dik. An aoudad would also be a welcome addition.

Kind of saying like does Oceania need more animals , some say yes some say no. Of course the right answer is always yes, everywhere needs more animals. Despite having most of the base game and 2 dlc packs catered towards Africa, there is still a good bit of diversity missing from the roster especially in the drier areas funnily enough after getting the arid pack.
  • Klipspringer, rock hyrax and hamadryas baboon for rocky habitats
  • Several kinds of monkey especially a colobus monkey to largely complete the missing chunk of tropical rainforest
  • Another lemur species to boost diversity in Madagascar
  • I would say more ungulates but after the arid pack, this is less of a concern. I would still love to see the kudu or gerenuk of course
  • Dare I say more felines like the serval, black footed cat and african leopard
Edit : ha I missed the Mammals part, removed the non Mammals

Africa suffers from having some very open holes that have not been fixed.
Before the desert pack one of them has been north africa which now has been vastly improved atleast in regards of ungulate variety, but africa in general is still lacking a baboon, small animals (after getting the sand cat and porcupine we got 5 if im not mistaken that are the same size or smaller then the aardvaak, 9 if we count the madagascar animals) climbing animals (literally just the apes + madagascar animals), no small monkeys when ideally we should atleast have one representing the savanah and one the rainforest and domestics which got slimmer thanks to the dromedary but atleast the african dwarf goat is a must with donkeys, watussi cattle and cameroon sheep all being strong contendor.

The smallest number of mammals to completle africa would imo look like this:
  • african dwarf goat
  • barbary sheep
  • vervet monkey
  • mantled guereza
  • hamadryas baboon
  • common gennet (doubles as an arboreal animal and small animal for all of non tropical non desert africa)
  • kirks dik dik and/or a duiker

Would it be perfect? Ofcourse not but atleast it wouldnt have any glaring holes anymore atleast regarding mammals while still being a whole animal pack to fill

I think Africa is complete for mammals. What I mean is that it doesn't "need" more except for birds. Needs and wants are different though. I certainly want animals endemic to Africa. :)
  1. Bat-eared Fox
  2. Common Eland
  3. Klipspringer
  4. Honey Badger
  5. African Crowned Crane
  6. Any Hornbill
  7. Serval
  8. African Civet
  9. Barbary Sheep
  10. Secretary Bird

I want the animal @Aramar mentions. IDK why? They're not a zoo animal... I just think they would add something... :( I really want them.
I also really welcome:

There are a handfull i want (even a couple more ungulates).

The main issue with the arid pack is first the name (is a Sahara pack, call it that) and second the lack of diversity. The animals themselves, individually, were all in my wishlists but put all together in one pack is kind of lackluster.

I still have several african mammals i would like:

Gelada, olive baboon or hamadryas
Mantled guereza o de brazzas monkey
Aye aye
Sifaka
Greater kudu
Gerenuk
Eland
Impala
Dik dik
Any duiker
Serval
Honey badger
African civet
Aardwolf
African lion (i reject the one we have)
African leopard (least priority)
Dwarf mongoose
Bat eared fox
Black backed jackal
Ground pangolin
Rock hyrax
Naked mole rat

So yeah still plenty of mammals left. Just mix them better in the future lol

Mybe not a full "African Mammals Pack" but i would like to have a Baboon species before anything, maybe the Dik-Dik, the Honey Badger and the African Leopard (please don't shoot me!). Other than that i think i would be satisfied with the mammals. The African animals i miss the most are the Secretary Bird and the Nile Crocodile (don't shoot me again ) because the Zt2 nostalgia is strong and would like a croc species to iclude in an African section.

Just a true baboon is really missing for this game, other continents need more attention than Africa (SA crying)

Honestly? Yes. if we are going by biodiversity, then roughly one fifth of all mammals should be from Africa.
