what will the anaversery animal be have your say

Since last year we got the Red Deer, which was not a simple "clone", it really could be anything at this point.

I still hope for American Flamingo, but any new bird or primate would also be amazing.

I thought for sure dromedary camel would be an anniversary animal.

My hope would be a ground avian species that still ties in with the latest DLC, like a secretary bird or crowned crane.

Though I would actually be super happy with something like the grevy's zebra instead.

I think we should not expect any special animal which is not comparable to animals which are already in game. Last year has shown that we also could get a DLC animal based anniversary animal.
So something Like Secretary Bird, Guineafowl (possibly the Most likely candidates from these examples) or Tamandua seems very unlikely to me. If we should get a bird, I would expect either another Flamingo species or the Grey Crowned Crane. But I think we will get a mammal and in this Case something Like the Wild Boar, American Black Bear, perhaps Barbary Macaque or an animal similar to the Capuchin Monkey could be Potential candidates. My Personal favourite at the Moment would be the Blackbuck which seems similar enough to existing animals but would also bring something new to PZ (Zoo Classic animals, First Asian antelope, beautiful coloration in my opinion).

Here's my guess. Ones I hoped for Planet Zoo to have. Also reasons why not in some DLC pack ideas.
  • African leopard, in case Planet Zoo designers and creators will run out of or be unable to come up with anymore ideas of DLC packs featuring Africans, savanna-related and tropical-related.
  • Perentie, in case Planet Zoo designers and creators will run out of or be unable to come up with anymore ideas of DLC packs featuring Australians and desert-related (Arid Animal Pack was considered desert).

The two candiates i hope for the most are some kind of squirrel monkey (based on the capuchin) and some kind of pheasant (based on the peafowl), both should be within reason as an anniversary animal. Alternative something like the sandhill crane or white stork, both based on the crane, would be cool aswell.
But as frontier seemingly hates birds and monkeys it will probably end up being something else

After an African animal and an Eurasian-African animal, I think this time we will get an American animal. The American black bear seems to me the most likely option, but if we are getting an Andean bear in a DLC one month before or one month after the anniversary, then it might not be a good idea to release two bears so close (although I would love it!). So I think the squirrel monkey is what we are going to get. Other option, or better said, "otter" option, is a third otter. They might go for a bird to make some people happy, so the rhea and American flamingo are good options. I've also thought of the ocelot, but I think the Pallas's cat will come in a DLC soon, so we have the same situation as with the bears.

In short, I just have the feeling fot the squirrel monkey.

I wish for a WE animal. Is something missing for the base game even though the WE itself is a feature added to the base game. Idk what it could be since i don't think it will be a bat or a flying bird.

As for habitat animals i hope for a bird. Grey crowned crane would be amazing. I'd be ok with a pheasant as well. Doubt we'll get a swan or duck since they would require new rigs. A rhea sounds more likely though and even though is one of my most wanted animals i admit is not the most exciting.

A blackbuck would be perfect though. Is an asian antelope, beautiful, requested and pretty much a clone, so easy to make.

But i think it will probably be something boring like the wild boar or american black bear.

I can also see it being the little blue penguin. Its a nice to have animal but wouldnt be a huge selling point for an upcoming dlc and it should be easy to make, so perfect anniversary material.
Would also finally give us something from NZ, add a real diving animal to the basegame besides the crocs.
On the flip side it would also work as a simple "clone" for a potential islands dlc, something thats usually speculated with alot of unique and more complicated animals like treekangaroos and such, so who knows

I still think a DLC animal clone is outside the realm of possibility, regardless of the red deer. So no penguins, monkeys, fancy birds.

If we didn't get the black rhino, that would be my guess, but now I'm thinking it'll be a bear of some sort. Not sure what, depends on what DLC we get.

Edit: Plus, they won't give us anything for free that would sell well in a DLC. Both the lemur and red deer have this in common. Conversely, when everyone thought the dromedary was an obvious contender for the anniversary animal I knew it wouldn't be; it was too popular of a choice to give away.

To me that narrows it down to a few key species that are still popular without warranting DLC-inclusion. American flamingo is one option, Eurasian brown bear, Sumatran tiger, European bison. I think it will be something like that. (Assuming we get a free animal; that's still not guaranteed. The new content folder could easily be a bunch of shops or something).

Bunch of Shops would be cool, too. But I am pretty convinced that we get an animal as we always got delivered (except year 1). I mean a Bear would be a cool thing as we did Not get any Bear species since over two years. And be it the American Black Bear as a relative "easy to make" and good looking Black Bear model with a bunch of color variations. I would celebrate it. I think the Spectacled Bear and Sloth Bear are so different from the other bears only a few people would be very disappointed about inclusion into a regular DLC.

Well, we've already got a primate and a deer/antelope, so perhaps something other than those. From the habitat animal groups we've already seen in the game, that leaves the following (I'm also including what my preference would be for each type):
  • Rodents - Agouti
  • Canids - Coyote
  • Tortoises - African Spurred Tortoise
  • Crocodilians - Nile Crocodile
  • Bovids - Wild Yak
  • Felines - Fishing Cat
  • Mustelids - Sea Otter OR Wolverine
  • Large Lizards - Perentie
  • Suids - Wild Boar OR Visayan Warty Pig
  • Camelidae - Alpaca OR Guanaco OR Vicuña
  • Pinnipeds - Pacific Walrus OR Harbor Seal
  • Large Flightless Birds - Greater Rhea
  • Penguins - Literally ANY penguin that we don't already have, preferably one from a colder climate so that they can intermingle with the king penguins (Gentoos, Adélies, Chinstrap, Rockhopper, etc.).
  • Bears - American Black Bear OR Sloth Bear OR Andean/Spectacled Bear
  • Monotremes - Short-Beaked Echidna
  • Macropodidae - Matschie's OR Goodfellow's Tree Kangaroo OR Quokka
Feel free to use this template, and try to add something that wouldn't fit too well with common ideas for DLC packs.

Tamandua: I think its a great idea! I'd love to see the second smaller anteater in-game (the silky probably won't be included :(
The only problem I could see with Tamandua is that you could argue the bench is an over stylized Giant Anteater. I think tamandua would bring much needed Central and/or South American representation AND it would be nice to have a second anteater. IMO
So what I'd like to see in Anniversary picks if I limited it to top 10 desires is the list below with similar in-game species in parentheses.
  1. Sumatran Tiger (Bengal or Siberian Tiger)
  2. Sloth Bear* (Sun Bear)
  3. American Black Bear* (Himalayan or Grizzly Bear)
  4. Bat-eared Fox (Fennec or Red Fox)
  5. Greater Rhea (Ostrich or Emu)
  6. Fishing Cat (Clouded Leopard)
  7. Pallas' Cat (Sand Cat? or Lynx)
  8. Serval (Caracal)
  9. American Badger (European Badger)
  10. North American Elk (Red Deer)
*I think the spectacled bear would be saved for a big DLC animal. Sloth and Black bears are still nice to have in game though.
