Fall DLC 2023 Speculation

Good chance that we can get an indicator of what the upcoming DLC is from what's announced in the free update.

1.14 added spitting to the llama, which implied the dromedary and probably a desert pack (ended up being the Arid Animal Pack)
1.13 included fixes to animal sociality and climbing, which kind of pointed to getting a social arboreal animal (ended up being the gibbon in the Tropical Pack)
1.12...did not really include anything relevant to Grasslands.
1.11 included the escape behaviors including trash-eating, which sort of pointed to the raccoon. Piebald skins were retroactively for the fox but that wasn't as clear.
Yeah most were little hints that make sense afterward but are kinda tricky to make sense of at first :)

Im really hoping well get something bigger this time. For the last year or so the updates were rather small with with really only minor things, quality of life changes and gimmicks for the most part.
I can really tell want i want specificly, but im kinda hoping for something more impactfull if that makes sense :)

Off topic but does anybody want a Watusi in game? I got an up close view of em at the Toronto zoo today.

I have to admitt its not my first pick as far as domestics go, id pick stuff like dwarf goats, ponys, ducks and chickens over them.
Their are just not super suited for a petting zoo setting, which is one of the main thing i want out of a domestic. Also the highland cow is pretty much this guy but a little more distinct looking imo, so they are my favored breed of cattle

Watusi are fine but they'd never be my first choice for a domestic cattle breed.

I think my first choice would have to go to Scottish Highland Cattle... but second place would be to Zebu, also pretty common in children's areas and cattle are quite important in India.

Actually they aren’t in the petting zoo at the Toronto zoo, they’re in a regular enclosure in the Africa section.

I really dont believe that this next dlc will be biome themed, like many others have pionted out its time for a scenery pack in the rotation of things and I dont see where you would get much out of Temperate and Tiaga scenery wise to make a pack out of it. I believe it will be one of two things
1. A pack based on an aspect or deed of a Zoo such as the Conservation Pack or a distinct animal behaviour or lifstyle like the Twilight Pack.
2. Something totally different they havent done before, hence the mixing it up comment. Maybe even an animal and scenery pack mixed
My only reservation is that there hasnt been any post of an actual free update which precedes the dlc. I may be wrong but I recall that has always happend the day before the dlc is revealed in whatever way.

Why not? Literally any theme can be built around any pack. It doesn't even take much imagination.

Temperate: Cottagecore architecture. Log cabin. Treehouse. Wilderness lodge. Native American.

Taiga: Arctic research station (a new concrete or metal and glass set). Log cabin. Native American.

Even then, for either you could just pick a country in that biome zone and create a building set around that.

Edit: Even then, you could do what the Africa Pack did; do half a theme which is basically an expansion on an existing theme.

Honestly i think you can make a great scenery pack from basicly anything. As long as there are usefull piece and nice props, the theme doesnt really matter to much imo.
See i wasnt really intrigued by the tropical pack at first because i mostly build modern zoos in the temperate biome, but after breaking the pack apart there was a lot of nice stuff in there. Same with the Twilight pack, couldnt care less about the halloween theme but the individual pieces are good

A Latin America Animal Pack with this roster I think would do wonders to solve a lot of the issues we have rep wise:
  1. Patagonian Mara
  2. Greater Rhea
  3. Black Howler Monkey
  4. Spectacled Bear
  5. South American Coati
  6. Collared Peccary
  7. Guianan Squirrel Monkey
  8. White-Tufted Marmoset, Cotton-Top Tamarin, Emperor Tamarin, Golden Lion Tamarin, Goeldi's Monkey (Walkthrough Exhibit)
Of course this is still missing some animals but I think this covers most of the desired bases.
This is quite possibly my favourite concept for this kinda pack. Also, love how this would technically be a primate pack, with 7 monkeys in it.
