Fall DLC 2023 Speculation

Then all I need is a bit of foliage (which could come in this update/DLC) and for New Zealand on the front-end globe to be made a temperate zone (which, one day, I hope can be modded in, since Frontier has said they're never going to change it after they bowed to the CCP that one time).
Can you tell me what change did they make to front-end globe biomes for China? I wasn't here back then and now I'm curious to know what is the only change they have ever made in that aspect.

NZ and south Western Australia had none at all so,…. No.
Technically south-western Australia did have the emu and common death adder (also the dingo historically speaking), but that's still very barebones of course and those are all species that are widespread elsewhere. Oceania brings the first endemic of the region (quokka) as well as an additional wide-ranging species (little penguin) that makes it feel a lot more represented.

That is it. Not every animal in every Pack will make everybody Happy. And in contrast to the Arid animal Pack there is also nothing to complain about the rooster. This time it is really diverse in my opinion (and I liked the Arid animal Pack nevertheless).
Chicken where? :D

Guys it does not matter, we are all biased towards our favourite animals. It is ok. I think generally people are just happy to have a pack without carnivorans or ungulates after a long time. We were used to recieve max 2 birds a year, and now we have a pack with 2 birds and 2 marsupials. That is great, lets hope we will see more birds and primates from now on, wherever they might be from. I am sure everyone would not mind more carnivorans/ungulates if the overall ratio would be a bit more balanced, which Frontier might just start to react to this kind of feedback. I am sure these kind of animals wont fit in all of the themes, but at least Frontier might be more mindful of them. We will see.

This so much. Of course it's fine for people to have handful of animals they feel they need. I do myself (actually just the Wolverine)...but having a list of like 50 + animals at this point that are all "needed" dilutes the "need" for certain specific ones. Heck, in my own pack ideas, I'd only be getting about half of my top 10 wants. Not because I don't want them anymore but because I logically understand we're not all going to get everything we want, and I'm trying to balance out my wants and what the community as a whole seems to want.

If someone started to play Planet Zoo way back when with a list wish hundreds and hundreds of animals long not only wanting but expecting Frontier to get them all in the game, they were only setting themselves up for disappointment. We have 171 animals now with this pack (130 habitat animals). That's up from 75 in the base game (73 and launch and 2 anniversary animals). That's fantastic. And they're not done yet. We've got at least another pack and an anniversary "gift" of some kind, which is probably but not confirmed an animal. We could end up with over 200 animals if support continues on long enough which would be incredible.

With the weird near-absence of New World Monkeys, I think Frontier has done an incredible job in regards to the mammal roster.

ETA (as a seem to often here): I wasn't a big fan of the Arid roster (the incredible Porcupine excepting), and while I'm liking it more, I was pretty vocal about how I felt about the roster. But I never felt like Frontier was being halfhearted in their efforts - just look at the detail designs! I also never felt like Frontier was ignoring what the community wanted. All but the Damas Gazelle and Sand Cat were talked about quite a bit. It was just that their picks were not what I would have wished for, but I also knew more packs would be coming, and that those packs would surely have animals I did really want in them.

I feel attacked. 😅

I tend to post really long lists. Personally, I'd be pretty happy with my big 3 species wants (GLT, ABB, and serval), as well as a good selection of monkeys, birds, and stuff from South America. I have favorites, but I'm kind of flexible with those goals. I just find it fun to try to come up with paths to completion with stringent and lax constraints or pretend I'm a game dev and try to come up with a varied and exciting roster.

I've learned about so many animals on the forums, and there are so many I'd still like to see in the game.

I know you're kidding because of the emoji, but definitely didn't have anyone in mind when I wrote that. :) We want what we want and we can't always help that, I know that for sure.

to add, you were able to separate your big wants from the rest of the them, and that makes sense. If we are going to keep wishing for certain animals, we may have to prioritize what we really want versus what would just be nice to have in the game. Not everything everyone wants can be necessary, of course what people varies from person to person as well. All fine and good. Regardless of what animals Frontier choose to add or has already chosen to add, making a stronger push for the fewer animals makes more sense to me. I'm sure there are some players that also don't actually have a wishlist, they're cool with whatever is added. I'm not quite like that, but if we were to get the Wolverine I'd almost feel that way.

Since I've given up on exhibit birds as of this pack's reveals, I'm not going to be trying to push that anymore. They're not coming. It's time to focus on what might have a chance to come. Still will be sad about them though.

I need to say that I loved the arid pack xD sand cat and the somali ass where both highly anticipated species for me, and since I am an ungulate stan the pack was a big smash for me. The specie I was most meh about (although the model isabsolutely stunning!) was the porcupine however I knew it was a big ticket animal for other players.

Edit: also the mid east had way more than 3 unless your using some very niche weird definition that excludes a lot of what I’d generally included.
Yeah yeah you always know better. That’s just how it is. NZ is not a region it’s an island

Honestly after this newest pack I’m feeling pretty content with the future of Planet Zoo myself. A lot of my remaining most wanted animals, like echidnas and tree kangaroos, don’t have as high of a chance of making it into the game now as some other species, but as important and essential as they are for me personally I’m just really happy with what I did get. I finally got the animal that kept me up at night with how badly I wanted it (Tasmanian devil), I got my most wanted bird (little penguin) and a couple additions I never imaged we’d ever see (quokka and an Australian bat). My wishlist remains pretty long, but I think I’ll be at peace with whatever comes next for a while.

Another year with no Oceania representation and then I’ll start nagging Frontier again lol

Just saying. We can't expect everyone to be happy and excited for the new pack. This is my first time not so excited for this new pack, everyone have their own likes and dislikes. We can't expect them to must to be happy and like a new pack because of "excellent" animals choice or they "wished" for that animals so they should like and happy with this pack. This is why it's hard for me to express my opinions on Oceania Pack because I dislike it when many people are happy with the pack.

I must say I have only one big wish. The Kirks Dik Dik would be a dream if it comes to the Game. I really Like those guys. But I do not really know where it could potentially fit. Arid Pack would have been the perfect opportunity. Perhaps within a Savannah Pack. And I think it needs a complete new rig compared to the other antelopes. And sadly IT IS ranked around place 40. And I am not sure If Frontier would Put such effort into a high midfield placed animal. Sure I have some animals which I prefer over others. Mainly because I have Seen them already. But I am just happy that we still get new animals every 3 months whatever animals they are. I have No offense against any animal.

It's probably the issue frontier have themselves when thinking of new pack ideas when the community is quite global. It was easy to identify this with the continent around the world theme of packs earlier in the dlc cycle. At some point, a group of people will be unhappy with certain inclusions because the animals are irrelevant to them but the same time people from a largely ignored part of the world are cheering for representation of their country at long last.
