Frontiers Financial Report is Out 👀

That's partly why I sometimes prefer ZT2 over PlanZo. PZ creativity is unmatched, but ZT2 has a charm that hasn't been replicated: its humor. I thought it was hilarious when the guests would sometimes get attacked by an animal and then get mad and leave the zoo. I thought it was funny when cavemen were found frozen in glaciers. When the killer penguin could kill the T-Rex. When guests would randomly walk in the wrong restroom and then run out screaming.

Same thing with Sims. Sims 1 had hilarious interactions (I personally love the creepy breathing of the obsessed fan from the Superstar expansion)
Hahaha that breathing guy!

I didn't like the cartoonishness of ZT2 so didn't play it.

Have you seen ambiguous amphibian's youtubes of the Sims? They're .....something 😂

What's missing for me i PZ is the challenge of management. In ZT2 you had to actually manage your zoo and there were animal tiers, sense of advancement, and actual risk in playing. None of this is in PZ

Spinning the globe and hearing everyone start screaming 🥲

Yes, I do miss specifically the scenarios that popped up like taking photos, meeting certain guest needs, keeping ceos happy etc. And you're right, the tiers list and animals unlocking was great. I'd love to see similar Implemented in depth in the challenge mode in pz, I just lack the stable internet connection for franchise, and would really like more depth and challenge. Even on hard, it doesn't take me long for a zoo that's got millions of dollars and steady cc.

I agree. When I started playing the game I always played Franchise because I was looking for the 'game' aspect. But it quite quickly became apparent that you can spam exhibits and make a huge income at the outset, research everything while the money pours in and then there's not much to do but expand and decorate. But this is limited in Franchise because it then gets too micromanagey. This has gotten a lot better though with the free updates.

I now play on sandbox and see it more as a creative sim than a strategy sim.

The differences between Franchise, Challenge and Sandbox aren't big enough IMO.

Maybe PZ2 should focus on how to make the game side of it more varied, challenging and satisfying with some more specific conservation and publicity challenges? The community challenges aren't working very well I don't think.

I agree, I ended up turning more towards architecture and landscaping to challenge myself, and am now really exploring making my zoos realistic.

The scenarios are okay, I am currently replaying them to get my last three steam achievements, and the times scenarios are okay if a bit repetitive. I can see they tried, but I really would like those randomised challenges and animal tiers.

Yes! Definitely. Animal tiers are great because they reflect real life where zoos have to prove their status through excellent welfare management and conservation programmes. That would be so satisfying, to have to build up from the local wildlife in the area you choose for your map, to more common exotic species, to species with harder needs and more vulnerable conservation status. Frontier would do a really good job of implementing this I expect.

I found the PZ career scenarios unsatisfying bc it's not your 'own' zoo that you're working on, and the dialogue was annoying, but maybe I'll try them again.

I love the building though, it's unparallelled. And the animals are the best looking in any animation anywhere, so so good. I'm nitpicking but it's still my favourite game by far. Just curious how PZ2 could be even better and I think gameplay and challenge are areas that could see some improvement.

Totally agree. Sometimes less is more. My imagination had more space to play with Sims 1. By Sims 4 it was all so glossy and there was too much to do, not enough time to sort of build up your sims characters in your head. Sims 1 was so much more humourous too. God I loved deleting those pool ladders 😅

Makes me wonder what they'll do with PZ2 when it does come around. Will they use VR? AI? I wonder what the animals will look like. I love them so much as they are now. Hard to imagine something better!
Agree, I look at the art style of planet zoo versus other zoo games, and it's just leagues better than anything else. I mean, I don't need it to get better to be honest. I know looking back at past games is both nostalgic and eye opening in terms of comparison, but planet zoos graphics are really really good. I thought ZT2 graphics were good, but I also knew they weren't really realistic either. Frontier definitely has an art style for their animals but there's also some sense of realism there in many cases. Although who knows, 15 years from now some other zoo game may come out that makes me think otherwise, but I'll say it again. I don't need for the graphics to get any better.

Not sure that's a good thing
Frontier said the higher number the better, because with more DLCs this number should obviously overtake base game sales.
If you think about it deeper, base game sales overall brought more money despite there being 14 DLCs (+deluxe). So even if every new DLC from last year was equal in sales with biggest possible input it would put each one on 10% of all revenue. Its pretty much impossible, because old DLCs also had their share in sales, so these numbers are smaller thant that or one DLC flopped (idk).
