No Single Player offline Mode then?

Adept and Pecisk have been working shifts in this thread trying to keep spirits up.

They keep tickling people which is great, and contribute nicely to the threads development.

Personally, I would miss them if they left the thread.

They're really keeping it going well. They might even get us up to 10,000 posts by the end of tomorrow.

The entire "I'm not getting what I want so I want to see it all burn down and nobody get anything" mentality is getting really wearing now.

Folks are just trying to get the company to change their mind. If I were affected by the decision, then I'd do the same so good luck to 'em. I don't think anyone truly wants to see the game fail except for a few folks who can't handle the news.

The whole

‘Hello, what thing would you like to have most in the world? What’s your favourite thing? What?’

‘A toy red fire engine.’

‘Is it? Well, I’ve got one for you. There you are, that’s for you. And that light flashes and the ladder goes up … No, it is, it’s for you, you can have it, really. Take it, there it is.’

*STOMP*

‘Oh dear, it’s been smashed in front of your stupid, crying face.

Don’t ever dream.’

thing was some good lulz though.

thank you stewart lee

if you intend to play on a notebook ? good luck with that !! if you intend to play on a laptop with a decent GPU, and you don't have access to wifi. Why not tether your laptop to your phone ? If you really want to play ED, you will find a way.

Now I know that solution is not practical for everybody. Military on operations usually have restricted internet access. I feel for these guys, wish them a safe tour and some awesome ED adventures when they get back.

For most of the people complaining here though, get over it. Accept the game for what it is and not what you want it to be, if you can't do that, well I'm sorry for you, but no amount of throwing teddies in the corner will change anything

First post after joining. Hard to believe you are not just joining the forum to troll in this thread.

You should go and read through the posts in the Introductions forum, many people who've been testing the game since early Beta have recently registered. As an intelligent and established member of this community, it's hard to believe, that you believe 'troll' constitutes a warm welcome.

My point of view is that most people want all the bells and whistles that being online brings (myself included).
So if they added an offline mode then that completely changes and limits how the game functions.
Then they would also be catering for the minority which isn't going to happen.

The way I see it it cannot be done both ways, a choice had to be made and imo they made the right choice.

btw, I don't expect a refund, although it's pretty clear from the store language that because I have not received the final product, I should, in theory, be entitled to my money back.

But I won't argue the outcome. I just wanted in on record that this long time Elite fan of 46 years old is disappointed, probably more than normal because it's been a string of classic games getting infused with "new blood" that ends up screwing them up because they never understood what the original was all about. I'm thinking SimCity here, among others.

So I'm on record, I want my money back. If Frontier Keeps it, they do so knowing they didn't earn it.

If you bought it from the store and you want your money back you can submit a ticket. If they say no, then you are correct. If they reject that then you are absolutely correct that FD are keeping your money unearned. Nobody seems to have gotten one yet, so we do not yet know what "on a case by case basis" means in actuality.

Finally got on the store website (been having display problems with the store) and ticketed for a refund.

It's been lovely reading how passionate people are for the game on both sides, I just hope that FD honour my refund request - turns out with store purchases and beta access for a game I didn't agree to buy into it's to the tune of £113, expensive for the handful of Beta hours I've actually logged in.

Have fun guys.

Grim out.

Sure this thread is made of extreme postings... what else should it be?

Someone like me wouldn't constantly post in here.

I'm not marching onwards waving the "Frontier" flag.
But i'm not grabbing my torch and pitchfork either.

I told i don't like the decision... so what else should i contribute to this thread?

So most people left in it are the "extremists" which keep on telling each other how wrong they are and how they "don't get it".

The entire "I'm not getting what I want so I want to see it all burn down and nobody get anything" mentality is getting really wearing now.

I don't want to see it all burn down. I just want two things:

1) Either the game I paid for, or my money back.

2) (Optional) An apology for the exceptionally poor way the issue was handled (just casually slip the information in a newsletter entry squeezed between a bunch of unremarkable updates as if it weren't important, or worse, as if they were hoping no one would notice?).

Give me those, and I promise I'll disappear from these forums quietly and wish you all happy exploring/hunting/trading, and best of luck to FD.

Can I point out, genuinely, and with deep concern for the state of your life, that arriving at whatever point you're at in life and having no family, no job, no responsibilities, no car or passport to take you anywhere where the internet may not be up to a continuous connection to ireland, indeed very little experience of anything much outside of how sweet the internet is from your bedsit/parents house, is not, in any way, something you should be proud of or advertise at all.
You missed out the complete lack of empathy, understanding, and the ability to listen to other points of view ;)

That's fair enough, and I agree entirely you should have both.

Yup it seems that you can't regret without being called angry and you can't express your disappointment about offline without hatin' on the game and you certainly can't post any thoughts linked to this anywhere else, the classy handling of this whole thing knows no bounds.
