Space legs missions are pain in the

So i tried many Ground missions.

When NPC'S start to throw nades with an accuracy that even a cheater becomes jealous. (If i stand still they hit me directly which is almost one tap)
Not only a few. They constantly do this if they force you on roof. (seems they have infinite Nades)
Even a Atillery field is a relaxed walk through the park compared to this.
Problem here is if you try to avoid it still hits you. With a dominator you cannot jump high anyway except on very low gravity planets.

Dont get me wrong but its just based on how much you grind. Not skill related at all except you are really a Casual in shooter games.
I am a very experienced player in shooters as its beside Space sims one of my favourite Genres.
But the heavy input lag on many bases due the low FPS makes this really unfair. Feels like Russian roulette.

I dont ask for making this COD-Like. but it really needs some rebalance.
I even have no problem to get one-tapped but then i expect being able to do the same without grinding for years or asking other players for support.

Its super frustrating as it is now.

When I started Ody ground combat, both ground CZs and non ground CZ combat, I found it difficult not to get "killed", This is not a problem in ground CZs as yhe CMDR respawns, but in other circumstances it is a mission fail and possibly jail.

I started to use a Scarab SRV and that was effective (so were dumbfire missiles), but I started slow and gained experience and skills.

Stick to low ground CZs with G3 gear and keep moving. Watch out for the grenades, sharpshooters and rocket launchers. Do not be afraid to jump away when hit to recharge. Pick your fights, hit from a distance and only fight one on one.

They throw grenades at you... Or at least where you were... You did move, didn't you?

Honestly, never been killed by a grenade. Situational awareness is everything.

The most annoying thing about ground combat is sometimes you try to turn and run, and you walk, and keep walking... Even though you stood for quite a while.

keep at it , it gets easier, (only mission i didn't complete yet, is the guard the cargo missions, usually i am to busy and they destroy the cargo)
get some grade 3 stuff via the great pre upgraded gear thread (say thanks in the thread), and start grinding for upgrades :)
(like the rest of us)

ps. my children think i am a total noob at fps games (they are right) and this game is far to easy.
o and for cz --> ROCKETLAUNCHERS

Start with stealth approach. Do not become wanted. Visit anarchy settlements where killing has no consequences. Start by plundering, killing when necessary using your energy link secondary function, it’s silent. Start gathering mats to upgrade and engineer a Tormentor and Executioner and a maverick suit; and to unlock the odyssey engineers.

Recommended mods:

Mav: extra backpack, battery capacity, and then whatever else you decide, quieter footsteps, night vision will do well to round it out but whatever you like.

Tormentor (upgrade this before the Executioner). At G5: it can 1-shot anyone unshielded, and 2-shot almost anyone shielded. Engineer: noise suppression and audio masking. Some will tell you that having both on a tormentor is overkill but I like the ability to be silent everywhere. Then whatever you want for the other 2 slots; range and mag size are good IMO.

Executioner: audio masking and noise suppression. Same discussion. Some will tell you that you won’t use the Executioner indoors. I do all the time. Then Scope; this is phenomenal on the Exe and doubles as binoculars. Then whatever. Do not add range since it won’t really add anything to its lethality. Without it a headshot at max range will kill anyone unshielded. I like mag size and reload speed.

Once you are at G3 and have at least one gun with noise suppression and one gun with audio masking you can stop worrying about engineering as a priority. With this load out you can do any mission pretty easily.

Then start learning the settlement layouts and the patrol patterns and you will be unstoppable against NPC’s.

This Intimidator is my favorite all around weapon. Perfect for assassinations and clearing out settlements.

Its, well, its different than the other shooters you're used to.

When Odyssey first came out I was the poster child for death in ground combat, and forgetting to turn on my shields...

I've improved quite a lot since then, though I've only done a few assassination, and such, missions. But, I've done a ton of High ground CZs now and I really like them. I'm not interested in grinding for upgrades, so I'm using "as purchased" G3 suit and weapons. I don't want to be overpowered. I'd rather be skilled. To date, I've only added one mod to one suit and not upgraded or modded any other ground equipment.

You did move, didn't you?
I keep moving and watch carefully about my position.

Note that if they're chucking shield breaker grenades, you can just toggle your shield off during the moment they explode to avoid it being broken. The red "taking damage" textures still appear on the screen but they don't affect your health at all.
Thats a good advice.
Thank you.

I have the biggest problem with the Bulletspnoginess and the constant nade throw. I barely have time to kill one once they are all at your position. (even non combat NPC'S)
I tried stealth but once they spotted you as hostile everyone goes directly to your position.

I only have the level 1. My alrounder is the executioner. I prefer Plasma in general on ground.

The key here is to keep moving to avoid their shots from landing on you.

G1 gear is fairly useless...

If you're not already making a concerted effort doing so, I recommend you start looking at Pioneer Supplies for pre-upgraded gear. Pre-upgraded gear resets randomly on Thursday's...

Keep an SRV (either variation) nearby for shelter, restocking, a fast getaway and expressing your road rage, "Death Race 2000" style. The Scarab is lower on protection but higher on accuracy while the Scorpion has better protection and missiles but the main gun takes some getting used to. Both of them will run opponents over with ease...

When you get in a position where you're about to be overwhelmed, run away, repair, regroup, and then reengage...

Have you tried any ground based conflict zones yet? They're a good place to learn how to avoid taking damage...they come in 3 varieties: Low, Medium, and High Intensity...

Here's an example:

Yep, they lob shield disruptor (EMP's) at you but these also do a little damage it seems. Run away.

However, the really frustrating part is when you try to throw a grenade (of any kind) at the enemy. Their ones will land at your feet whereas the ones you throw will go miles off target or bounce all over the place and completely miss where you want them to go. Uncontrollable.

Bit of a failed mechanic. However, if the enemy is inside a building, a frag grenade will have a very satisfying outcome - it might not kill them, but you will hear them shout "Grenade!" is a very panicked voice.

Best tactics in on-foot combat are:
  • At least G3 (or buy) your gear - and add a mod or two to help
  • Duck and cover - the terrain is your friend (and that includes walls, crates or anything that prevents LOS in a base)
  • Fighting from a building top
  • Strafing
  • Don't stand still
  • Enforcers are bullet sponges
  • Sharpshooters are really accurate. Twice. Move or die.
  • An Aphelion is excellent at removing shields. That counts for the enemy as well as you. Don't stand still.
  • If you have to take out scavs on a mission - or do assassinations - have good stealth build. I've never needed quieter footsteps as crouching is quiet anyway. An Executioner with audio masking is great choice for both jobs. Note that if you use a gun with no noise reduction, you can easily alert enemy colleagues.
  • Night vision does help as it feels like 75% of ground stuff is in the dark.
  • Know your binds. Especially the key press for your med kit.
  • Keep an eye on your radar for approaching enemies and which way they're coming at you - use the terrain (including buildings) and don't let them surround you. You will have very bad day.

Additionally:
  • Power on missions give the opportunity to stock up on lots of mats
  • Don't forget to trade for what you need
  • FC CMDR's can sell data you may need but the markup can be... er... a lot.
  • Manufacturing instructions.

Thats exactly what i do but with the executioner level III. But by me they toss infinite nades when i try to escape from roof. When i land then they toss directly the next one. Rinse repeat.
i try to shoot them from the air but once their shield dropped they run in cover. so it repeats over and over again until i get hit too often. No way to use cover as the AI knows exactly what you are doing like a ESP-wallhacker. The only thing i can do it find a building with an ammo crate and cheese them. But you have to get a security key whic is impossible if the whole mob is hunting you.

The horrible performance on many bases doesnt make it easier due the input lags. While my CPU runs at 30% and my GPU at 70--80%

Maybe they should pitch in the MLB World Series. They'd make a whole lot more money than security guard pay, and it sounds like they would be better pitchers than the pros!

Oh, and the weather in Phoenix is a lot nicer than some airless moon!
