Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

28 shell corporations make it really easy to hide assets.

We know of about ~15 entities. (But yeah you could probably double that via another bunch without Chris/Erin/Ortwin as director etc ;))

I'm definitely half-expecting some form of 'CIG entity charges CIG entity huge amounts for marketing & rights' style shenanigans...)

(Hell, I wouldn't even put it past them to overcharge for distribution ;))

Does CIG train their public faces in how not to say anything? The question "Is the public roadmap going to reflect all the planned features" was not answered. Bonus points for beginning with "Absolutely correct" and then go off on an assumption that was never made in the question.

Honestly we're still in the dark about what the Calders really want out of this.
Maybe bragging rights for being into SC for some millions and not just another cheap Legatus.

Keith and I swapped war stories about the film industry and talked about how refreshing it is to be able to utilize crowdfunding to create a project that normally would fly against what is currently considered mainstream.
During the course of these discussions it became clear to me that if Clive and Keith joined us as investors in our company, we’d have true partners that respected what we had built, but also fully understood the ins and outs and the patience required with a business based on creating entertainment. Taking in like-minded partners helps us solve the need of funding the marketing and release of Squadron 42, but also stay attuned to what makes us special.

"So that's how we used the German tax loopholes and settled up out of court with every production company we provided no apparent return on investment for lol.. now...who wants to make some serious money from the emerging perpetual crowfunding entertainment whale hunt?"

I think CIG is maybe major training centre for political trolling in the US. The tools and methods do seem often similar. That's maybe the reason for the many companies. Each agenda gets its own setup.

Oh man this has aged well...

As we look towards the release of Squadron 42 [...]

Other companies in a similar situation have normally tackled this problem by partnering with a Publisher for the marketing and sales of their game. As you all know I am not in favor of putting my destiny in the hands of a third party.

Plus a metric ton of 'mainly for SQ42 marketing' messaging. And 'this is fan-boy venture capital, not bad-boy venture capital...'

Y'all are now super accountants.
A galaxy of shell companies is the only exploration game in SC.

Notably not mentioned is the private share sale to Klein, only that the old friend and mentor got a seat on the board.
Apparently(?) these shares came with an option to sell them back to the company with interest.

If I buy shares from the boss' private stash and sell them back to the company for profit, is that an investment, a loan or wot?

It can be a normal investment practice and act like a loan until the money comes in.

Where it would get real shady is if upon selling the shares he then split the profit with the boss.
