Of course, absolutely fine, go ahead@Villanelle what are the rules for non "hoofstock" animals being included in the herd habitat, such as gorillas for jungle or ostrich for savannah? If allowed I may have to include ostrich![]()

Sure!Is It Fine If My African Herd Is For Rainforest Animals Of Africa? Like Bongo, Okapi, Pygmy Hippo, RR Hog And Lowland Gorilla
All good! In the wild you'll find cape buffalo, warthogs and ostriches in herds, alongside zebra, wildebeest etc, even family groups of rhinos. As long as you have a few different african herbivores together you're meeting the briefAnd I totally missed the herd specific part outside of antelopes and gazelles etc which I would count as herding.
Although ..a large group of animals, especially hoofed mammals, that live together or are kept together as livestock.
So I was thinking buffalo etc .. some of the ones in the major enrichment group for the African animals in the game .. But also threw in warthog and ostrich as well rofl.
And this wiki page ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herd ) says thisA herd is a social group of certain animals of the same species, either wild or domestic.
2 WORDS. Nocturnal House. In between building time, could I please collect your thoughts / wishes / heart's desires for the topic for the next round - round 3? We can keep 'desert-inspired visitor centre' in the mix as that had a few votes, any other suggestions pop them here! I'll get another poll up in about a week's time
The Africa pack added the meerkat, white rhino, African penguin and fennec fox. Based on the rule clarification for 'herd', I guess this now permits meerkats and African penguins as well as the rhinos for 'mixed African herd' species! Although given their need for a very rocky environment and such a specific real-world locale, the penguins are a tricky one to combine. Meerkats though...I am sure someone could do something interesting combining them with an ungulate species - giraffes and meerkats ha! I like how these themes are going to stretch us to think in new ways...which african herd animals come with the africa pack? I don't actually have this pack so will be using african "hoofstock" from other packs! I'm wondering what I'm missing out on! (probably lots of nice scenery too!)
Actually (if I understand you correctly) you can totally do this! Weirdly, the riverboat ride can pass through barrier walls that are in the water. You don't even need to use the airlock gate. You can build the habitat barriers first, then place down your ride track going right through them, and add the water right at the end when you're happy with everything.Although the riverboat option may be out of the window as at least one of the animals can swim so can't use water as a barrier to allow an open water course through the enclosure.
Can confirm just the Rhino .. My spreadsheet ( not totally up to date ) has the following in Africa pack.which african herd animals come with the africa pack? African Penguin |
Fennec Fox |
Meerkat |
Sacred Scarab Beetle |
Southern White Rhinoceros |
I lean towards yes, mostly because i could really use a pelican for this roundHere's something we haven't discussed yet - should mods be allowed in the Zoolympic Games?

Oh excellent news .. The ride will be the last thing to add but I'll give it a test on one of my richer zoos that can afford to lose money on a test.Actually (if I understand you correctly) you can totally do this! Really? People discuss them all the time, but we can just leave it quietly open if that's best.I lean towards yes, mostly because i could really use a pelican for this round.
But i think there might be troubles with frontier if we post it here.
I'm personally in the not worried camp. I don't use them myself as they're not officiated. But I can understand people might want to use them. Here's something we haven't discussed yet - should mods be allowed in the Zoolympic Games?

especially love the habitat located in a cave, slope habitat (these can look really natural and nice!), animal palace sounds like a fun creative idea!, fastastical setting would be super fun and creative too! great list of ideasHere are some ideas:
- A dome building that contains a minimum of two habitats (or at least serves as the shelter/interior portion of the habitat).
- A habitat located in a cave.
- A habitat on a slope. It’d be good for mountain-dwelling animals like ibexes or takins, but any animal is fine.
- An habitat for a desert animal built in a zoo in a tundra biome OR a tundra animal in a desert zoo. You’d have to make it look like the zoo pulled out all the stops to accommodate for the animal.
- Animal Palace - I got this idea from a cartoon that I used to watch as a kid called “Hero 108.” It’s about humans going to the kings and queens of certain animals (i.e. the Elephant Ling, the Chameleon Queen, the Eagle King) to ask to join their side in a war against a trickster warlord. Each animal monarch had their own castle, and I was thinking, “What would a castle made for a specific animal look like?”
- Fantastical Setting - Basically, you pick a genre of fiction (fantasy, horror, sci-fi, etc.) and make a habitat based on that.
- Cartoony - Make it look as cartoonish and tacky as possible.
I haven't got mods (i don't even have all the packs lol) but it all adds to the variation of entries and have no problem at all with people using their mods, totally up to you guys! Here's something we haven't discussed yet - should mods be allowed in the Zoolympic Games?
