Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

The whole "Halfway through the year without a complete roadmap for the year" thing reminds me of Rimmer from Red Dwarf constantly failing his promotion exams due to obsessively re-working his study schedule until he ran out of time to actually study, every single time he tried to take the exam.

I AM A FISH. I AM A FISH. I AM A FISH. I AM A FISH. I AM A FISH. I AM A FISH. I AM A FISH. I AM A FISH. I AM A FISH. I AM A FISH.

For my space game i simply decided it would have feature imaginable. This nicely sidesteps a ton of questions and the need to do loads of 10ftC videos on YouTube. Everyone can just presume the answer to "Will the game have X" to be yes, no matter how stupid it is.

Now all i need is several billion to get started and a bank account in a non-extradition country.
The advertising tagline could be "your imagination is your limit*"

*actually it's your bank account, but we don't talk about that...

edit; I just thought of another one "THE game for forward thinkers"

Where do I sign up for this?🤪

Roberts should see if the old Lexus motto is open for use.

CI(G?) - The relentless pursuit of perfection

CIG is the biggest real-world example I can think of that represents the saying "Perfect is the enemy of good enough", and Chris' clueless perfectionism is one of the main drivers for the hundreds of man-years of wasted work in all the "refactoring" of assets.

I think you are giving him way too much credit. Chris, or CIG, are not perfectionists. That is just their excuse for their inability to deliver. I would argue that what actually applies rather well to CIG in general and Chris Roberts in particular, is this Oscar Wild´s quote instead:

“Ambition is the Last Refuge of Failure”

Chris is an editorial perfectionist. He expects all under him to deliver what he sees in his mind, but either can't or won't communicate his vision effectively, so he approves something, then thinks of something he wants changed, and has it re-done to chase his vision, even though he couldn't make what he sees in his mind's eye himself.

He is an epic jackass who has stumbled on a combination of a golden goose and a gullible fanbase, though, so nothing more really needs to be delved into in much detail, but I just had the thought and put it out there.

I hear your argument, but i don't see any green pixels in your post!

Feature-complete doesn't mean the features are complete. The list of features is complete.

If memory serves they actually said “feature locked” not “complete”. May be wrong.

Yep, content and feature locked in 2016 ;)

Nah, the idiot Roberts actually used the words 'feature complete' by my recollection...not that anyone with a brain gave the statement any merit :)

So after a decade they've maybe started?
