Zookeper's Collection: Dream vs Nightmare scenario

Dream scenario: Frontier, after 5 long years, FINALLY GIVES ME A DUCK ITS LITERALLY ALL I WANT PLEASE. I’ll take anything else with it.

Nightmare scenario: no duck/ more of the same. Even if I like all the animals, I just want this pack to have something different and unique ya know? Like I get why people don’t like barnyard (I have my own gripes with it) but for me at least it was “different” and surprising. Which actually made me like it more. If what we are speculating from the dictionary is true, and even if they are all awesome animals (which they are), I just need it to be more different.

I recognize a pack with two primates, a bird, and our third habitat tortoise is different than what we normally get. It’s also leagues way more diverse than Eurasia or Arid. I just need it to stand out more IF it is indeed the last pack.

3. An old world bear
4. An east reskin bird that isn’t all that unique
5. A boring easy reskin that isn’t unique enough from what it’s based on
6. Another lesser ape
7. Another great ape
8. Another sloth. Sorry everyone I am not as passions for another sloth and would hate to see a good WE wasted on another type of sloth

They are probably giving us a fourth lémur and a fourth tortoise so why not? As long as they are not southamerican or a bird everything is fair game lol

But those are at least unique species with something noticeably different (maybe not so much the tortoise)

If they put in another Oranguatans or chimp i wouldn’t be happy. There’s a few subspecies, ultimately the new world needs some bear rep.
Considering frontiers weird rep of throwing in uncalled for or unpopular picks here and there.

Everyone chases lots of the high wishlist oddball picks but ngl - my dream would be a pack of the pretty common zoo animals that are still missing. Something like:

  • Ring-Tailed Coati
  • Patagonian Mara
  • Greater Rhea
  • Mantled Guereza
  • Common/Black-Capped Squirrel Monkey
  • African Spurred Tortoise
  • Serval
  • Azara’s Agouti
  • Common Dwarf Mongoose
  • Linneaus’ Two-Toed Sloth (WE)

That sort of thing - which I think loads of people would have tbh.


But a lot of the ‘new rig’ obscure animals that have wishlist momentum just don’t do too much for me. Tree Kangaroo? Sifaka? Hamadryas Baboon? Secretary Bird? They’re alright but imo they’re hardly zoo ABCs. They’re just a load of unique obscurities I might use once in a blue moon.

Just sayin’ I don’t think it’s a coincidence most of the highest regarded DLC animals are the abc filler species that are really common - Capybara, ASCO, Crested Porcupine, Meerkat, African Penguin, Giant Anteater, Red-Necked Wallaby, Emu, Lar Gibbon etc.
They’re just so universal compared to your Platypuses and Kiwis, Saigas and Tasmanian Devils etc whom everyone wants - and then uses only once every now and then once they’ve got them.

Well those specific animals people aren't necessarily chosing because they're on their wishlists (Tree Kangaroo, Secretary Bird and Sifaka ain't on mine) but because those were maybe, kinda, leaked

If the pack turns out to be the one we're expecting with the "leaks", I'd be happy with it. But if we would get additionally another Neotropical monkey and a pelican, I would be over the moon! A pheasant and a duck would make me even happier.

My nightmare would be another really ungulate or carnivore heavy pack, specially if we're talking about domestics (but I wouldn't be opposed to a duck or rabbit). Other than that, I don't expect anything and hope to not end up being disappointed again.

Dream: Golden Lion Tamarin, American Black Bear, and maybe a serval for my personal favorites plus some other good monkeys, a few birds (including a duck and at least one for South America), coati, tree roo, the other bear, maybe more cats, and not too many ungulates (preferably just from the popular trio and/or something unique like a muntjac).

These are the main ones I'm hoping for and would use often.
  • Golden Lion Tamarin: My favorite zoo animal, and a great pick for marketability, conservation education, taxon rep, new habitat design, and regional rep.
  • American Black Bear: My local mascot animal comes in a lot of colors.
  • Spider and/or Howler Monkey: It would be really weird if we didn't get at least one of these. I need more New World primates for many zoos.
  • Ducks: I, like many people, want to build duck ponds. While one duck is way better than none, I think multiple species are needed.
  • Grey Crowned Crane or Secretary Bird: My Safari sections need another cool bird, and there are so many popular ones.
  • Scarlet Ibis or Roseate Spoonbill: South America needs a flashy bird.
  • Serval: I really like this cat and see it often in zoos.
  • Coati: I've seen it in a bunch of zoos, and South America needs more stuff.
  • Tree Kangaroo: It's adorable, and I want it.
  • Muntjac: Red pandas are a favorite, so I would use muntjacs often.
  • Guereza or De Brazza's Guenon: While I don't need them as much as the neotropical monkeys, I still see these guys pretty often and want at least one.
  • More Habitat Animals: Though I wouldn't use them as much as the others listed, the game wouldn't seem complete without a blackbuck, pelican, Patagonian animal(s), spectacled bear, and a baboon. I would love to see some more monkeys, birds, and cats. There are others I'd like, too, but those listed above are the main ones I want/need before the game wraps up.
  • 4x4 exhibit animals: Emerald Tree Boa, Thorny Devil, Chameleon, Cobra
  • WE animals: Birds, please
Nightmare: no New World monkeys, no new bird models, little to nothing for South America, too many ungulates, and mostly Asian and African animals

Secretary Bird: One of my favorite birds, a fan favorite, and a pretty unique looking feathered friend
Black Howler Monkey: My favorite of the South American primates, we desperately need more primates and SA rep
Alligator Snapping Turtle: Something unique, we have habitat tortoises but not habitat turtles. This guy is def big enough to warrant a habitat
Matschie's Tree-Kangaroo: Another unique looking critter, found in many zoos, and more arboreal rep as well
Patagonian Mara: More SA rep please, another smaller creature to add to our habitats
Hamadryas Baboon: Probably the most wanted primate right now, plus we need a baboon
Reeve's Muntjac: An incredibly unique deer species, also fills that smaller creature niche
Burrowing Owl: More birds! kept in many zoos, fits the little to no flying rule
Andean Bear: More SA rep, and I honestly prefer over the American Black Bear
Short-Beaked Echidna: One of the last Oceania critters that I feel we need to have
Victoria Crowned Pigeon: Personal fav bird, probably too many for this pack, but it's my dream so I do what I want
Pere David's Deer: I know, another Ungulate. But this one had a great success story for conservation, and is unique enough to warrent a place to me
Ex: Red Spitting Cobra/King Cobra; We need a cobra, personally I prefer the spitter, but the King is well loved

Nightmare:
No new Birds
No new Primates
Too many clone Ungulates
Not enough SA rep

Nightmare: 7-8 animals with boring clones, "unnecessary" african animals and a lot of ungulates.
Dream: 12 animals, 3~4 animals from South America, at least 2 birds and a lot of animals from the top ranking of the community wishlist
