What the new secret feature should be

As a person who doesn't really care about PvP, I don't really get this problem..

If they want it, why don't the "pvp groups and pvp discords" just go and do "PvP with their own ships and load outs in the galaxy against members of other powers" then? Are the pvp groups and pvp discords just aligned with one power?

Which one?

As for the new feature, my hope would be on some kind of dynamic population system which would allow (slow) player-driven changes including colonisation of unpopulated systems and growth and decline of (EDIT: unpopulated) populated ones!

The Open Only people claim they are all in open. Power A's supporters claim all their players are in open and that they want open only, but claim Power B's supporters are all hiding in solo or PGs. There are a number of conclusions you can draw from this.

As for the new feature, cockpit cats.

Combat and other interactions with other players and AIs in the internal areas of star ports

This! Please Please Please this!!! The docking bay should be a gateway to adventure, not a volume devoid of gameplay to sprint through to access glorified kiosks!

I want this almost as much as I want THIS!:

Accessing richly detailed planetary surfaces

But I'm a realist enough to admit that the amount of effort required to do so will mean it'll be one of the last paid updates. I have to admit...

Walking around interiors and combative boarding of other ships

... would also be nice, but only if there's actual gameplay to be had, and not merely a volume devoid of gameplay that must be traversed.

Thargoid dating simulator. Final answer.

I don't think the new feature will be anything too big. Certainly no ship interiors or earth-like worlds (seriously, it's not possible to make those happen in a way it's realistic... None should resemble another and their features would need to be generated depending on the star type, location... everything. NMS is fantasy space without any realism, that's why it works there.)
For planets I'd be content with fluids, weather and more volcanism and the like. But I think that would already be too much to expect.

The new feature will be something smaller. If there's interiors, maybe it's the cockpits/bridges of our ships. We could finally use that coffee maker in the Krait MK2...
Or maybe we'll be able to own megaships and stations? That would use mechanics already in the game, but put more strain on the server. So maybe not. :D
Personally I want it to be associated with exploration. There's been combat, Thargoid war and now a Powerplay update, and none of these things were and are for me at all. I'd love this to be an update to the stellar forge adding more features to the nerdily created galaxy we play in. Things outside the bubble. Realistic space phenomena, more variations in stars and so on. Comets, white dwarfs eating their companion stars, acretion discs for black holes for example... Things outside the Bubble.
Buuuut I don't think that's it. Maybe we'll just get an extra slot on our ships for finally fitting spoilers without the use of shipkits... Wouldn't that be something?! ...

What Elite needs is more integration between the space stuff and the on foot stuff. So anything in this direction, no matter how small, would be great news!

Problem is the separation of the versions. If you do that then it starts causing issues for players who only have Horizons. We already have Horizons players complaining due to the occasional mission that tries to send them to atmospheric worlds, the on foot stuff needs to be kept strictly to Odyssey players so that means a sharp demarcation, and trying to integrate them together will cause issues, not may, but will.

Base building. But I've a horrible feeling it'll be locked behind a grindwall of on foot (already some clues as some of the mats allude to it), & ship mats too

Not a new feature, but what would really help, also with player numbers I guess, would be integrating Odyssey into the main game like they did with Horizons, and done.
I mean, sure they are earning on the dlc, but it would unify everything and be a lot less confusing, especially for new players.
In my opinion, separating game versions like that was a really, really bad move. I have no answer on how to do this differently in a better way, since they have to separate features somehow, but well... I wish they'd just throw it together for everyone and done.

The question is do they do it by getting rid of the dead bodies from Odyssey or upping the PEGI rating of Horizons?
