I wonder if its an industry thing at this point and if so was if CIG who started it
It’s the result of CIG’s own doing, which will see experienced staff replaced by younger and cheaper developers, who’ll find it difficult to learn from more experienced staff because there aren’t any.
Earlier this year, CIG quietly laid off an estimated 100-150 staff members at its Austin and LA offices. The company had hoped the move would go under the radar because affected employees were told to sign Non-disclosure agreements, which prevented them from announcing their departure on social media. Former employees said those who refused to sign were told they would not get any form of severance.
Earlier this year, Microsoft was given a brief presentation for Squadron 42, CIG’s spin-off campaign of Star Citizen that consists of around 20 different chapters (levels) of various lengths.

Staff describes the engine as Frankenstein, a mishmash of parts that is difficult to work with at the best of times, never mind when features are added, changed, or removed daily.
“They are repeating mistakes that other companies made 20 years ago, which contributes to the shortcomings of their ambitious features,” said a former developer.
“I’ve genuinely been sat in meetings that got derailed for 30 minutes so that the placement of objects that players are likely never to interact with could be discussed in detail,” said one former employee, “there’s just no actual focus on getting the game done,” they continued.
with fans planned to see a demo of Squadron 42’s Chapter 1, which was internally said to “get our community on board with the fact they are getting very close to Squadron’s full release.”
All of this of course totally makes sense given the narrative of record breaking "financials" that comes from CIG. I am still amazed some people just choose to look at, and believe, CIG´s non audited sales tracker figure and conclude all is well
I would totally trust my money to this company to develop the alleged most ambitious space sim ever...
You mean the game that has been getting release date anouncements every other year, only to miss them all, and that was retired from sale a year and a half ago?
I am so onboard! Where can I buy an idris?

hey it's the 4000th page of this thread!
I've been approached by their recruitment team a few times, but our industry isn't very big and if you have a decent network it's easy to find out what a studio is like. Safe to say they have a bad rep in the industry and most of us steer clear of them.
Didn't stop the recruiter from lying through their teeth when I told them everything I had heard through first hand accounts of what it was like to work there. Said what I had been told was not true and grossly exaggerated...evidently not!
All i know is that i downloaded it last night and started the tutorial. Immediately there were bugs with every interactive element in my environment... Everything was set to open and had to be open-close-opened again in order for me to see it activated. I then ate food and drink before putting my helmet on and was blocked by a locked door which said on the doorpad that it was open... Every manner of interacting with that doorpad resulted in 0 outcomes and the door remained locked while saying that it was open... I gave up at this point, looked for a bug report (which i couldnt find) and promptly uninstalled the game
What a mess of an experience
Remember when the old thread hit the 10,000 post limit? I think this forum's backend has had more progress since then than that of SC.hey it's the 4000th page of this thread!
