Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

Had no idea it was photoshopped or was a beyblade thing. Someone posted it on the refunds stuff. I'll point it out there if someone hasn't already done so.

EDIT: looks like the refunds mods spotted it already and have deleted the post.
indeed, i wasnt blaming you (i did make that clear in my 1st post i hope) it is the plonkers who make the crap up in the 1st place and then post it online.

Yes, they directly said you will be able to raid other people's bases (not sure if that includes destroy or damage, because if so, that would be hilarious).

And remember, they also sold the A2 bomber, so you can do bombing runs on people's bases!

Unless... you paid real money for a land claim.
yeah that kind of sucks then, I love building a base in a game, (its why i definitely have enshrouded on my watch list) but if i could spend hrs makeing something only to go in a few weeks later and it be flattened or all my stuff nicked.......... that will be me out.

there is however an alternative which could work for everyone. maybe players could technically break into my base and loot it, they get to get some stuff and from CIGs POV they are having players populate the world for them........................... i would be ok with that but so long as the stuff players looted wasnt literally taken from my account.

that does not square off the potential issue with literally destroying said base however.
the video above does not promising however........ (from my perspective). ultimately i think the thing i am banking on will be private servers. given CIG have sold (because of course they did) a guide to running a private server then hopefully that will be a thing and i can just run on a private server with like minded folk and just do PvE stuff.

LOL, forget about private servers ever being a thing. With private servers will come the modders who will mod in ships and paintjobs and other stuff, which would kill CIG's revenue stream.

yeah they do seem incompatible but this was a thing (no longer on sale)

now that could be pulled (and presumably refunds given) but well if we go down that logic hole - which is a possibility of course) well then equally all bets are off and it may end up being that player bases end up invulnerable to other players anyway despite what was said in citizencon... closer to home for us for instance, back in the day there was talk of being able to damage star ports and orbital platforms in elite, the space stations even have apparently working blast doors - you can see them if you look for them.

it was never implemented, possibly for good reason, and SC may end up doing the same

"Add-Ons - Engineering Manual for Modders (Digital)" $12,20 USD

Backers who gave money to CIG for modding private servers should get a refund. If not then it's a potential lawsuit.

Chris Roberts said:
Crashes aside, there’s probably not another game that has a prologue that has that much action. Mostly there aren’t movies that have that much action in there. Gladiator has three minutes of battle and eight minutes of prologue. This was an hour of crazy stuff.

They showed lots of scripted in-game cutscenes with average first-person shooter, turret, action gameplay. The graphics and music are good though.

Oh yeah, the famed modding manual. Also not happening. I wonder if they plan on compensating people who bought it. Perhaps in in-store credit.

I bet Chris Roberts charges his own company an appearance fee, I mean he sold them back the rights to his own IP and I can just see him assuming it's "Hollywood standard" to charge for his appearance.
Putting it in the sleeziest way possible.

Chris Roberts as the CEO of a company he created feels its in their best interest to acquire the IP he created. The move secures the rights to Star Citizen and ensure CIG can continue development in case the creator of the IP bails on them and prevents the original creator from suing the company later. I think Chris Roberts short changed the IP creator though since CIG only paid Chris Roberts $1mil for a multi million $ IP.

I'm assuming Cloud Imperium Rights LLC, a Chris Roberts company, is the actual owner of the acquired IP and in turn lease it to Cloud Imperium Games, another Chris Roberts company. The weid thing is Rights and Games are registered in Los Angeles instead of a tax haven. There must be a parent company in a tax haven these two pays their profits to in order to avoid tax right? Unless they're just there to skim miltiple CEO pay. I wonder if there's a Cloud Imperium Human Resoure or Recruitment, Cloud Imperium Utilities, Cloud Imperium Events?

Just had a faithful respond to my pointing out CIG's historical lies. They tried to justify it as a "means justifies the end" since if they hadn't lied, CIG would never have been able to make the game in the first place (the game they still haven't made).

This is how far down the rabbit hole some of them are.

i have no idea of your reference however what else would you call people who use photoshop to fake images and use them to spread FUD that CIG are plagiarizing peoples work?
It's a jpeg on the internet, I'd probably say it's justified satire.

Which is worse, a jpeg for lols or CIG actually plagiarizing peoples work multiple times over the years for massive profit?

(the jpeg works because of precedent)

So SQ42 was supposed to have a beta in 2020, after it was “nearly finished” back in 2016 and then in 2017 (never mind it was also announced for a 2015 release after delaying the original release date of 2014).

Now we have to wait as a minimum until 2026. The excuse back in 2016 was the inclusion of full planets. So, real talk CIG, with 10 years of delays after that, what the truck is the excuse now? Is it that someone made Vanduul assets human size and you had to restart from scratch? Or is it that the lead dev fell from a bike and broke his wrist?

Just looking at the funding chart. Hourly rate isn't that much higher than it has been for ship sales at times. Still looking pretty low compared to previous years.

Time for CIG to release a new concept ship?

Chris Roberts sold his own IP (Star Citizen) to himself which is CIG for $1 million of backer money. At one point Roberts owned 100% of CIG, he is still one of the largest shareholders.

Based on tax filings in 2021 (original source), Chris Roberts paid his own brother Erin Roberts around $350,000 annually since 2017. Chris Roberts got around $567,843 per year, and a similar 6 figure salary for his wife Sandi Gardiner. This is total director remuneration which includes salary + bonuses.

Sandi Gardiner had no previous experience to be the Vice President of Marketing at CIG in Los Angeles. After 7 years she stepped down in 2019, but remains on the board of directors. (source video: Sandi Roberts Interview Part One...How Star Citizen Came To Be)

They should rename CIG to CIN = Cloud Imperium Nepotism. 🤑

I have many questions about this. They thought that all through properly and took player strategies into account, right?
Something something shield tokens across all shards, rapid response hangars in stations and pray to the server meshing jesus to hold it all together. How do defenders join their attackers' shard? What is a shard? A region, maybe. That would still allow simultaneous multi-shard attacks.
