Latin America animal pack - Dreams vs. Nightmares

I would say

Dream Version
Geoffrey's Spider Monkey
Golden Lion Tamarin
South American Coati
Prehensile-Tailed Porcupine
White-Faced Whistling Duck
Rosette Spoonbill
Sunbittern
(Exhibit Animal) 5 new dart frogs

Nightmare Version (with 1 Monkey and bird to make it more challenging)
Tufted Capuchin
Humboldt Penguin
Guanaco
Andean Mountain Cat
Marsh Deer
Lesser Capybara
Black Caiman
No exhibit

Most Likely
Black Howler Monkey
South American Coati
Rosette Spoonbill
Lowland Tapir
Ocelot
Greater Rhea
Argentina Black and White Tegu
(Walk-Through Exhibit) Hoffman's Two-Toed Sloth or no exhibit

Dream version:

1. Greater rhea
2. Patagonian mara
3. Black and gold howler monkey
4. Southamerican coati
5. Ocelot
6. Squirrel monkey or golden lion tamarin or white face saki
7. Scarlet ibis
8. Green anaconda

I'd be ok with:

1. Greater rhea
2. Patagonian mara
3. Southamerican or white nosed coati
4. Ocelot
5. Bush dog or tamandua or giant armadillo or argentinian tegu or second ungulate
6. Southern pudu or vicuña or guanaco or southamerican tapir or mash deer
7. Spider/Howler monkey
8. Plumed basilisk or mata mata or two toed sloth

Nightmare (unrealistic version):

  • 3-4 ungulates including both camelids at the same time, and specially if we get the white tailed deer instead of something (anything else).
  • Another crocodilian (yes even the cuban one)
  • No birds or birds but are the flamingo and another penguin or just one of those.
  • No monkeys
  • Any of the arboreal oddballs virtually no one asked for: tayra, kinkajou, olingo.
  • Ungulate and carnivore galore
  • No rhea and/or no mara
  • No coati

Interesting to put the spider monkey to nightmare. Why? :)

Dream:

Any return to the diversity of packs like Wetlands/Grasslands. With most Latin American species found in zoos being among the most ignored groups, this region deserves a pack like that and it would be a bit of a slap in the face to get otherwise. I just want to be excited for an animal pack again, Oceania was the last pack I didn’t really have any major disappointments in.

Other dream inclusions would be more than one bird, and/or getting a bird, reptile, primate, and maybe even a rodent all in one pack or even just at least two out of those (which it’s frankly ridiculous that that’s unrealistic in the first place ngl)

Sorry not sorry but I’d prefer not to see a single ungulate here, my want for the pudu has gone down significantly after getting the dik-dik and even that I wouldn’t have taken over so, so many primates, birds, reptiles, and rodents. The same with carnivorans to a lesser extent, with the coati being the only one I’d actively celebrate. While I love the bush dog personally and wouldn’t be upset by it, I can’t really paint it as some amazing addition over so, so many other animals, and the ocelot is… okay. It has a great geographical range but I just can’t say I’d get excited over our third cat in a row, third from this region, and 16th overall.

If we get an oddball, I’d want it to be something a little more creative than the usual “throw a random ungulate/carnivoran at it”; something common but less requested like a chinchilla, Brazilian porcupine, small tortoise, or tegu, the sort of “I didn’t know I needed that” kind of animal.

Something like this would be ideal:
Roseate Spoonbill/Scarlet Ibis (I think the spoonbill is cuter but I’ll take either)
Greater Rhea
Patagonian Mara
South American Coati
Black Howler Monkey
Argentine Black and White Tegu
White-Faced Whistling Duck

Personally I have no major opinion on getting an exhibit animal vs. scenery since I love both about equally.

Not ideal but a pack I’d be decently happy with:
South American Coati
Bush Dog
Pretty much any monkey ngl
Greater Rhea
Patagonian Mara
Any waterfowl or wading bird species
Red-Footed Tortoise

Nightmare:
Another addition to the disappointment fest of animal packs with only one species that isn’t a carnivoran or ungulate. With how many we’ve gotten lately, any more than two ungulates would be disappointing, and even then I’d much prefer zero since there are far more needed groups for this region. No bird, non-crocodilian reptile, or monkey would be a total bummer as well, especially in a region so well known for those groups (though I doubt Frontier would ignore a monkey here with how badly the community has been crying for them… at least I’d hope so). Honestly, I’d be bummed to only get one bird at all here, and it sucks to say that’s a real possibility. All mammals would be ridiculous too.

Staying realistic, a nightmare pack would look something like this for me:
Second Capuchin
Ocelot
Marsh Deer
Southern Pudu
South American Coati
Brazilian Tapir
Vicuña (While I really don’t want either, I just wanna say if we have to get the region's third camelid instead of a bird, reptile, rodent, etc., I’d prefer the guanaco since looking at ZTL it’s significantly more common literally everywhere. The vicuña isn’t even kept outside of Eurasia and South America. Either way, both would be a nightmare, but the guanaco slightly less so)

It is a nightmare to just get South American creatures in next DLC, especially if it is the last one we get. I want Secretary Bird over any South American critter, and the only South American critter I want critically in the game is Howler Monkey, Rhea would be awesome as well, but the other monkey's you can keep, not really a monkey extremist like most as you.
Also as most of you don't care for the Secretary Bird, I don't really care for Coati, don't mind it, but don't care one bit for it, in my opinion we should have gotten Coati instead of Raccoon, I would be happier with Giant Armadillo's and wild Llama's to be honest.

The most important South American animal we got with last pack, the Spectacled Bear, so not really that craving for SA any longer, but a howler monkey would be extremely sweet to get.
In PZ2 I would like to get the Jaguar, Giant Anteater, Maned Wolf, Galapagos Tortoise, a wild Llama species, Any Tapir, Coati, Spectacled Caiman, Capybara, Giant Otter, Spectacled Bear, Small Monkey, Howler Monkey, Scarlet Ibis, Rhea and Giant Armadillo from the get go. Things like Ocelot, Small Armadillo, Spoonbill, Tamandua, Bushdogs, and Mara's would do well in an expansion then.

All zoo's I visited had an Ocelot, NONE had a Mara or Tamandua, you are probably just talking about American zoo's.

What a weird comment.
This thread is about PERSONAL dreams and nightmares, not about the likely inclusion of animals based on commonness in zoos.
But in addition to this, it's completely wrong what you are saying, the mara is much more common than the ocelot in both North America and Europe and the tamandua is not much less rarer than the ocelot in zoos.

Oh no, I did not mean the Ocelot is rare in zoos, I meant that I do not want the Ocelot (mainly because I think we have alot of cats already and I want to take a break from them) and I do not want to see some obscure species, as in, two different separete things.

I am from Europe, I have seen alot of Maras and some Tamanduas.

People on this forum base their entire opinion around realistic animals, I @m the only one who doesn’t care about realism and you attack me for it. What a weird comment indeed.

I can’t travel because my disease, but in the four Dutch zoos I mostly visit are only Ocelots, not Tamandua or Mara.

I also misread Foxy’s comment because of the last line of her nightmare list.
