While the nerfs have been helpful in some aspects, it's hurt in other aspects as merit rates vary by power and activities vary. Some activities are at the point that they can't be countered any longer with the lower merit rates of the nerfed activities. While you are reviewing the grind to reach the various ranks and awards, it'll hurt and seriously slow the actual powerplay goal of gaining and controlling systems and make that a more contentious grind.

Will this also increase the merits for exobiology and exploration data back to what can reasonably be earned by doing other activities per hour? It's been nerfed into the ground, and is not worth the time invested. Even sitting in a station and doing donations gives more merits per hour than exploration or exobiology.
I concur. Explorers are being disproportionately discriminated against in Power Play.

Paul, my question is this: I committed to Pranav Antal due to the Exobiology or Organics Data Sales being very lucrative. This i believe is now nerfed. If my original motivations have been changed by you can i now rather have an opportunity to commit to a new Power? Can i keep the merits i have earned? Perhaps there needs to be a settling down period for Commanders to change to whom they are committed:? OR i guess one can argue it may not matter after the changes tomorrow and that i am being premature for there is a way to go until Power Play II is optimized.

  • Archon Delain Powerplay systems now correctly open Black Markets if they are not already present. OK...here crime might pay.
Excellent.

Now what I really wanna see is these actually being useful for merits. It's even in the lore that people who pirate those who pay tribute to the kumo crew are subject to the Five Strippings. To me that says that pirating outside of kumo space and selling the loot inside kumo space would be an ideal and flavourful activity for reinforcement (showing that being under kumo gets you goodies), acquisition (join us or we keep robbing you) and undermining (your leaders are weak and can't stop us robbing you)

Ideally everyone should have a fancy and flavourful way of pushing their agenda. Can imagine Aisling running some sort of underground railroad where you bring slaves (imperial or otherwise) and liberate them.

THANK YOU! Please look into making baseline activities like the weekly missions and power commodities worth doing - those should be the "old reliable" methods, as the time-gating means they can't be exploited. I would love to feel like the weekly missions give me a healthy amount of progress (like, 1 level per week at a bare minimum - it would still take 2 years to max out that way). As it stands right now they pay so little that they don't even feel worth the effort.

And please buff merits from bounty hunting! - I think I calculated that it would take something like 7 billion credits worth just to hit level 50. I really want to be involved with Powerplay 2.0, but it's gotta fit in reasonably well with just playing the game normally.

Greetings Commanders,

Powerplay 2.0 has been out for a few weeks now and we are really grateful for all the feedback and reported issues you have shared.

Our intent with our balancing is to ensure a diversity of gameplay activities are viable within Powerplay 2.0, and that no activity feels significantly weaker than any other. We are continually closely monitoring for any activities which could be disproportionally more advantageous to undertake than any other, potentially creating a meta that players feel forced to play in order to rank up or participate in the conflict.

Following prevention of several exploits we will now be in a position to improve balance on the overall experience of Powerplay 2.0. We will be closely looking into:
  • Significantly reducing the amount of time/effort required to earn early modules
  • Significantly reducing the amount of time/effort required to increase ranks
....

Update Notes

Powerplay 2.0
  • Fixed an exploit where Powerplay Data could be downloaded multiple times from the same Data Port (Issue ID: 67329)
  • Aisling Duval's Powerplay systems now correctly flag Imperial Slaves & Narcotics as illegal. Crime does not pay.
  • Archon Delain Powerplay systems now correctly open Black Markets if they are not already present. OK...here crime might pay.
  • Pranav Antal now closes Black Markets in Fortified/Stronghold systems.
  • Merit awards for destroying Ship Launched Fighters have been reduced.
...
Thank you for all your continued feedback and reports!

It will be very interesting to see what you recalibrate total merits for when earning them, because Powers defending Strongholds or Fortified Systems from Undermining (particularly Powers that don't focus on combat like Felicia Winters) need to still have a viable way of defending against undermining attempts. Rare trading was the only viable option for keeping pace with what they were doing.

That is why Mbambiva currently is sitting at this for example in Winters space as a stronghold system - both merits for and against are massive (and have been since PP 2 commenced - the Imperials have had a bee in their bonnet about losing Mbambiva to us in Cycle 300):

I still think the ultimate solution is to take out the Power modules (ie Prismatics) out of Powerplay altogether and put them with the Engineers or the traders. That takes away people just joining Powerplay to merit grind to get those items... and leaves the players who actually want to play Powerplay ;)

Please don't overbuff everything, I want something to work towards that'll last, and contrary to what most commanders say, once they have everything they want most of them will just stop playing until the next update. Not only that, even if you triple merit output, it will not stop people from complaining that they feel "forced" to do the most optimal merit earning task, the complaints will just not last as long but they will still be there. So long as you stare at a number on the screen and focus only on it going up, it will always feel like a grind, taking 80 hours, 40 hours, 10 hours, the time spent doing it will be unfun and boring. Stop focusing the number and just do what you enjoy.

I thought Imperial slaves are supposed to be legal in Imperial space? It's normal slaves that are illegal. Only the Empire recognises Imperial Slaves as legal. It's not forced capture, but more like voluntary servitude.

I am sure someone else can explain it better than I can.

Or maybe I do have it wrong and have misunderstood it completely.
