Facts are hard to face, I know...

The fact is as i said the maintenance used to be take only 10 to 15 minutes when i was playing 12months ago,

Yup. Ignore the server maintenance message in launcher, game works fine.

The main menu screen still also says expected back up at 07:40!

I'm glad you mentioned something, because I was able to get into the game, and do my pre-breakfast check for interesting missions I can use to advance the Neo Abolitionist cause.

Quite the timing on my end
Its my first ever day of trying elite dangerous, and its immediately downtime.
Let's see how long this takes!

I'm envious. Discovering game, it's mechanics, gameplay modes are the best thing for me. Sometimes I wish I had ability to erase all the data I have collected in my own brain just to discover game again. I have even bought another copy and it was fun to do things I consider the proper way now but it also somewhat diminished that feeling from exploring game from the start. I hope You like it

IIRC Elite: Dangerous does not have an offline mode. It does have a Solo mode but that still requires you to be connected to the servers.

A new player might be using the training stuff, which IIRC works even when the servers are down.
