Sorry if this is a bit off topic, but....

As its the 40th Anniversary of the Moon Landings is upon us. I'd just like to say what a amazing achievement is was to put a man/men on the moon.

(Even if I've done it countless times with a Asp Explorer:D)

Always been gutted that I was born 2 years after it happened, I can't imagine how it must have felt to just be watching it let alone being involved directly.

So, congratulations to everyone who was involved in it especially Michael Collins who tends to be forgotten about.

Indeed - and also a moment to think of where we would be now if we had kept going at the same pace - Mars - Pluto - beyond?

I wouldn't be so sure - with people like Burt Rutan at the helm of projects like Spaceship One and Virgin Galactic there is sure to be some private sector movement in our lifetime.

From the sounds of things the US government is starting to make some new movements in the right direction and once these things gain momentum hopefully they will end up somewhere useful :D

EDIT: there is this bundle of fun as a motivator: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google_Lunar_X_Prize

i'd bet Rutan would LOVE Elite IV.

SpaceX, armadillo airspace, ESA, NASA, all the others, wouldn't that be awesome if they were endorsing e4??
