3.9 will be deleted again? when is the final headstart without whipe??

i have read something about 3.9 only lasting 2 days???????

why? is that official? or only talking cause of the Event on the 22nd



does anyone know when the headstarts takes place yet???

i have no funn to grind AGAIN just to start over AGAIN

gamma was said to have no whipe ... is that still correct?

i just watched an youtube video this guy says gamma way have AGAIN an whipe just before release .....never heard that before

he should be carefull to forget that too like he did with the offline singelplayer



there was even dev Q/A saying gamma will have no whipe and be the headstart for backers

Incorrect. Beta 3 ended Thursday, Nov 20, 2014, Beta 3.9 began on Thursday, Nov 20, 2014. There was a wipe for beta 3.9

On Saturday, Nov 22, 2014, Gamma starts, this is a preview/prerelease. There is reported to be a wipe preceeding it, to kick off Gamma.

On Tuesday, Dec 16, 2014, Elite Dangerous is releasing in it's full release. It is still unknown if there will or will not be a wipe for this. Early reports were that there was to be no wipe for release, another report came in stating that if there were changes to the database, or significant enough changes due to reports from Gamma, there will be a wipe. So this is still up in the air.

I hope this is clear enough, I don't have the links to the above reports, but if you search the forums, you will find them.

I read a post by Michael Brookes saying they did not intend Gamma to be a headstart, again, you'll have to search the forums for that.

in the features for mercenary edition there was "headstart with gamma for all backers" just like the "instant access to the beta"

another thing they break????

I was expecting an headstart too, they are far too trigger happy with wipes already in a game that requires serious time investment . I am not going to play 3.9 , i already tested the sidewinder fully ...In fact we arent testing much, went up to the cobra then it requires far too much grind and time , we should have been given sample ships if it was really a test .
Headstart was an incentive to preorder and get into beta, if its not so its false advertisement. I can wait and play the 16 of december but then i would like a refund of my extra beta cost, just the 15 euros.

I could care less one way or the other. I like the game to much not to play for 3 weeks. I will trade up to a cobra in 2-3 days, upgrade it, 2-3 days and then bounty hunt and practice my combat skills in solo mode in Freeport for 2 weeks. If theres a wipe i just do that over again, 5-6 days, no biggie, or theres no wipe and i have a head start.

If you read Michael Brookes's posts, then it looks more and more likely that there will be a wipe. Although the likelihood has been increased by certain users wanting a yes / no answer at this time, since FD are not sure of the need to wipe they are going to have to fall on the yes side....

How can there not be a wipe, ive paid for higher privileges on kickstarter. Like starting with 4k and with ship, or start at Lave, or in the founders world etc etc.

It would only be fair too that those are implemented at the same start time as those who cant play until launch.

Seriously (care to link info that lead you to this) guess I'll hold off playing longer than anticipated, I got on last night to test facetracknoir and was astounded how well it worked and realized how much I enjoyed the game especially w/ the ability to simply move head to look around and access systems, etc. Oi guess I shouldn't have logged on to get the bug, now I'm going to have an itch that I can't/won't scratch till 16th. I don't mind wipes and can't fault them for them as its not release/finished game and understand that, a wipe after release would be another story and honestly would destroy the game and the community i believe. So hopefully they've built out the core to the point they can add in features w/o having to wipe, if not, not quite sure how they plan on adding the expansions like fps and planetary landings etc w/o breaking the game each time.

I've gone from go to whoa in this game at the moment.. Best I can muster is a quick fly about, check out the new features and log out. No point in grinding away, trying to get ahead when you have the carpet pulled from underneath you. I can understand why they need to, but in future I think they need to carefully word things so not to get peoples hopes up... just breeds negativity.

Now later in the discussion it's stated that it's not a guaranteed wipe. But the key word from Michael himself is that a wipe "seems likely".

Hopefully we'll have confirmation tomorrow, but nobody should be getting their hopes up of there not being a wipe for release on December 16th. As it was said, it "seems likely".

It's an headache all these wipes, it wouldn't be half as bad if they would let us know way in advance. I understand I mean it still beta for a few more hours ha, but seriously I'm tired of starting again il make millions and then they'll wipe it.

I also want to head off any accusations of broken promises against FDEV as I am seeing a few potential accusations in this thread.

If you read carefully in the KS, you'll see that there are a variety of KS backer rewards to be honoured. Each time you start a new game, you will have the option to start according to the rewards you have chosen. This is separate from the issue of data wipes on major release phases.

Further, I have seen the Mercenary Edition advertising, and can see nothing whatsoever that promises a "head start". They offer additional ship skins upon release, and an additional ship docked nearby and owned by your player. They specifically do not have "head start" as a selling point, nor do they make any promises that a data wipe would break.

Frankly, I don't know what to think of anyone who makes a "they're breaking their promises again" issue of wipes upon major release phases.

I really don't.

In fact, I think such statements have already broken my brain.
