Elite Dangerous | System Colonisation Beta Details & Feedback

If the right power expands into the system, then the benefits given by that would apply.
Agree. I refer this to show it's not a fat effect in just a system. Authority don't scan because they know you. There's not many more convenient ways to show this attitude.

And there's already many ways to leave your name in just one click. It's ridiculous for people to do so much effort just to leave names.

...have milestones as you build it up, rather than just no station at 99% delivered goods and fully functional the second you deliver that last 1%. ...
Right. What a limp letdown. Beta or not I was expecting a short animation of my station being built. Something, anything! Not a cheap Brewer Corp billboard. A nothingburger with no pickles for all this effort?? Thanks, but it's the last station I built. Fdev, champion of missed opportunities for greatness. 🙁

Animations would have meant huge effort in implementing and maybe also asset creation (in-between states, movable cranes, etc.) for something that is only visually stunning but contains no game-play at all, as well as happens only from time to time. So no big return of investment. So they have not done it, similar to the titan explosion situat... oh, wait.

yeah agreed, you get absolutely nothing for your effort, nothing, zip, nada. Except of course the station you just built...

I was trying to find the reference for you, but I can't remember exactly where I saw it - I'm sure I'll have that 'light bulb moment' at 3am tomorrow...

At the very bottom, as I was curious also where they stated it.

Seems like there are some tangible benefits, but they're very modest. I assume my single outpost system won't yield anywhere near 5m credits (which is not much to begin with) and they also state that any outfitting/ships purchases will come with a 'small' (their wording) discount. I reckon 10% or thereabouts - which wouldn't be something I'd strive for if you can just go to LYR instead. Especially since you have to build at least 10 (lol) facilities to qualify. Yeah no thanks.

They stated that the station is not "ours". It belongs to whatever the faction. We are only mules with degrees in architecture. It is still not clear to me how these things can profit ME the player. Stations are everywhere.

It's all in this link

The one thing that still doesn't sit well with me is that by colonising a system I inadvertently helped a player faction expand. Would've felt a sour aftertaste if it had been a faction I don't like (name, association, size, etc.) because I didn't really have a lot of choice in the area I wanted to give things a go. Ended up helping a pretty major Alliance one with an inoffensive name, so not a big deal, but still. I understand why it's like that, but as a PMF agnostic player I feel used and abused a little....

So I get a footprint? Like the one we "left" on the moon? Ok in that case color me impressed. Anyways, how come VistaGenomics and Poineer supplies are all boarded up. Will these open up eventually or do I have to mule some more? At least Apex Shuttle is open for business but the bar needs to hire a bartender. Hopefully a hot gal of Central Europe decsent.

your finished station will go fully online with the next weekly tick.

They don't. They give you the opportunity to actively shape the galaxy, and leave your "Bob was here" signature. Also: People want to build things, so now you can "build" things.
Meh. And where do I see my Bob sign? Even in the mission screen an ugly overtanned 60 old broad introduces herself as the System Architect. Eer, I thought I was the Architect.

If you don't want to expand a player faction, just colonize with a non-player one.

I have zero interest in factions, and limited involvement with PP or major powers but, should my system fall in the hands of something I am not particularly fond of, I would rename my stations accordingly. (I.e., if it becomes a federal system, my stations will be named to celebrate the empire, and so on 😊)
